She could have pointed out that there was a reason people had invested time and energy into figuring out how to make candles since the apocalypse. She could have pointed out that books were the oldest pass time in most of the world and before that there was oral storytelling which had the same intended purpose. But she exercised a little restraint for the sake of the brunette girl. Well for both of their sakes really, she wasn’t really feeling like an argument today, just some peace and quiet with a good book and the occasional moan of one of those couples in the darkened closets.
Her eyebrows furrowed at the mention of watching a dramatic scene unfolding on screen. There was a reason people were gifted with imaginations and when it came to most book adaptations the cinema fell short of what she’d seen in her head. A little hard to be swept away when her own imagination was proving better than that of the people working on the movie. Sure she was aware that some of it probably had to do with safety issues and budgetary concerns but the point still stood. “I don’t know I always felt that they fall a little short in the end.” She murmured in response.
“None of the above.” An eyebrow quirking as the girl searched for names. The importance was escaping her. It was three syllables that only had real meaning to two other people. Most other’s just sort of smiled at her while their eyes said ‘I feel bad for you’ when her full name was provided. Truth be told George felt sort of bad for herself too sometimes it was a very unusual name to come across in America. “You can guess forever and I still wouldn’t tell you so you might as well give up. It’d save us both a lot of time.”
It wasn’t so much that she was bothered by the suggestion as she was surprised this obvious girly-girl brought it up. In her experience in the states girls like her very rarely entertained the possibility of bending the gender binary by cross-dressing. They tended to be pretty self-involved and couldn’t give a care in the world about that sort of thing, so she was a little surprised but it didn’t last very long as the conversation turned to governments being crazy controlling.
Shrugging her shoulders George sighed, “Probably. I mean we’ll have to start making more babies than people turn if we want to avoid extinction by zombie. Or at least I think so, something to that effect was covered in a geography class I took, well minus the zombies at the time.” She blinked for a moment as the words passed her lips. Heaven help her she actually just flashed back to her freshman year of high school as she was trying to make friends with one of the popular girls in geography by attempting to explain to her one of the many topics she hadn’t understood. Here she’d thought these moments were reserved strictly for Danny. It felt a little odd having someone else witness even the briefest moment of sincere enjoyment in a conversation.
