WHO: Leah and Kori
WHEN: Forward-dated to June 27, 2019
WHERE: Sing Sing; starting off in the cafeteria
WHAT: Trying to rebuild the sisterly bond.
RATING: Low.
Finding the letter in her room the other day had been a shock, but discovering who the letter was from and the reason behind the letter… was even more of a shock. Her baby sister held resentment for her because she thought Leah didn’t want to spend time with her. Leah couldn’t exactly blame Kori for how she felt, as much as she wanted to refute that point with accusations of her own. When it came down to it… Leah really had no viable excuse as to why she never took the initiative to spend one-on-one time with her youngest sister. At least not before Marigold came back into the picture. That was a partial excuse, but still not a great one. The age difference and Kori’s advanced intelligence had always been factors that made interactions strained between the oldest and the youngest Stones. Even before the outbreak, they’d struggled to find common ground. Leah wanted to fix that, though. She loved her sister with all her heart and it hurt knowing that Kori resented the fact that they never spent time together. That was the whole basis for this Wednesday, though. To rebuild that sisterly bond. They wouldn’t be completely alone all day, no. Leah didn’t plan to shirk her parental responsibilities, but Kori would indeed have a lot more of Leah’s focus than what had become the norm. Lunch was already finished. Marigold was already getting fussy, which meant she’d be falling asleep for voluntary naptime soon. She’d managed to stay awake and mostly cheerful for her aunt, though. Leah enjoyed watching her siblings’ interactions with her daughter. She’d been excited for that back in the day and the excitement hadn’t faded with time. “So now that we’ve eaten, what do you want to do now?” She asked Kori, pushing aside her empty plate. |
