"Do you think so?" Ellie felt her cheeks color slightly. It was nice to have someone agreeing with her for once, instead of dismissing her. It was certainly people's prerogative, to dismiss others; she couldn't fault them for having their own ideas, even if they made her feel strange and antsy. Maybe it was because it brought back how she had felt, going out on her own. Then again, she hadn't been feeling much of anything at the time.
"People don't change unless they have to," she told him. She couldn't think of herself as particularly understanding -- perhaps ambivalent would be the better word. That had certain connotations in use, though; left over meaning from their previous lives. "I'll help you, though, if it turns out you do need something."
