Ollie felt a little bit of a rush, the same rush that always came with a successful grab. It was muted—this was small time compared to breaking into the Plaza Hotel and Casino in Vegas and snagging over ten thousand dollars with his sister and uncle—but the feeling was still there. He stared at the machete in his hand for a second, and planned to turn and walk away. His supply run was finished, so he could head back to Federal Hall with the knowledge that he'd finally been successful.
But then he heard humming.
He turned his head to glance at the girl that he'd just made the grab from, and he was more than just a little surprised to see her looking straight at him. And she was… smiling?
Ollie wasn't sure what was with people nowadays; no one seemed to get up in arms about thievery anymore. But a smile was not what he'd expected here. Arching an eyebrow, he tilted his head to the side and scratched the back of his head.
He brought his free hand up to his ear to motion for the girl to take the earbuds out. He needed to ask this time.
