When Elliot agreed to her request, Rae smiled, leaning into him a little bit more in appreciation. "Thank you," she said softly, then paused when he spoke of a condition. Truthfully, if he asked her to go to the infirmary, she'd have done it. He could ask her to do pretty much anything and she'd do it. But that wasn't the point. She nodded in acquiescence to the condition, smirking a little bit. "I definitely won't argue with you on that." She wasn't desperately needing warmth, no, but she wouldn't turn down a cup of cocoa, either.
David turned and looked over his shoulder, nodding his head still when he turned to glance back at Eli. "You guys stay here, I'll run to the dining area and grab her some cocoa," he said, returning his brother's smile, before holding his index finger up in a "wait a second" gesture and dashing off.
Rae turned to look at Eli, before moving to stand in front of him, wrapping her arms loosely around his neck and hugging him, leaning her head against his shoulder. "Okay, so I may have taken a tumble into the frigid ocean, but it was worth it," she told him, only half-joking. Truthfully, beyond the terror of falling into the freezing ocean and being bitten by a swimming zombie, this whole thing went perfectly. Just as she'd known it would.
She pulled back from the hug and looked up at him, face showing barely a trace of the terror that had been on it merely minutes ago. Yeah, it was traumatic, and no she probably wouldn't forget it for a long, long time. But reuniting Elliot with his family was worth it. More than worth it, if she was being entirely honest with herself. Everyone deserved some sort of family. Rae had her dad, Sarah had her brother and sister and now Elliot? He had his brother back. She wondered what he was thinking right then, how he felt about all of this.
"How are you feeling?" she asked him, her own well-being a distant second in her mind. Eli's mind must have been racing.
