When Rae argued that she was fine, Elliot looked at her dubiously. She wasn’t displaying any signs of hypothermia, but that didn’t mean a dive into freezing cold water wouldn’t have any repercussions. At the very least, she’d be nursing a cold, which would be bad enough if the island’s infirmary didn’t have any cold medicine in stock. Worst case scenario? He didn’t want to think about it at the moment.
Elliot pursed his lips, exchanging a look with his brother. As much as he didn’t want this reunion to be interrupted, Rae’s health was equally important — if not more so. When he’d been helping her change clothes on the boat, he’d noticed blood on her calf, most likely due to the swimming zombie. It hadn’t looked like a deep wound, so he hadn’t made a big fuss over it, but he’d made a note of it. That, and the whimper of pain he’d heard when Rae moved her arm.
Rae was stubborn, though. Elliot watched her expression while she tried to talk him into not taking her to the medical station. She wanted to be a part of this, and she had every right to be, considering she’d brought him to his brother. She was also an adult and fully capable of making her own decisions regarding her health. It would’ve been a completely different story if she were standing in front of him, bleeding from severe injuries.
With a heavy sigh, he conceded her request with a nod. "Fine. On one condition," he said, holding up an index finger to emphasize his point. "We have to at least get you something hot to drink. Stave off some of those chills. At the very least, you’ll have one hell of a cold for the next few days..."
Elliot turned back to David, half-smiling. "Please tell me they have hot chocolate or coffee or something like that around here."
