Kris was more or less to the point that he could do this by memory now. Tweak a wire here, twist it around another one and duct tape them to the receiving end of the solar panel, snip it short and tape the other end to the opposite side, cover it over with a protective case and there was one solar panel down. One down, about fifteen to go. On this side. No wonder this was taking so long. At least he didn't have too far to go before he plopped down and slept when this was finished.
With that thought fresh in his mind, he reached to his right and gathered one of his dwindling supply of Red Bull, tilting his head long enough to take a nice, long pull from it and ignoring the atrocious taste. It got him through this project, and that was what was important.
He set the can down nearby and moved on to the next one, when he felt a kick at his foot. His eyes moved to look at the person and when they didn't say anything, he tried to ignore them. It was hard to concentrate and talk at the same time. But then she spoke to him. He chuckled a little bit. "I'm alive, yes," he muttered, finishing taping the wire to the back of the panel. "And don't worry. Most people know I'm here. Since, you know, I'm doing something important."
