Bennett had never once thought that Lucretia was cowardly. That was not one of the words he would have used to describe his partner. And he wasn't one to prod, so she really didn't have to worry about that. Bennett was respectful of her privacy, even now. What she wanted to worry about and think about was her business. But, yes, he'd be there for her, no matter what.
Bennett smirked and gave a look over at Lucretia, "I knew it," he teased, "Let's see, it's taken how many years for you to admit that?" He shook his head, "don't let it. Shanghai was one thing. This is another. We weren't having to worry about the bloody undead in Shanghai. Jumping out of nowhere," he cringed just thinking about it, "taking a bite out of whoever's in their path." Awful. "My point is, Lucy, you'd better not wander off. Because if you do, and you survive," which he had no doubt that she would, she could take care of herself most of the time, but, "you'll have me to deal with when you get back. And you don't want that."
He nodded, walking along with her, "well. We'll get you another one. Nicer. They you won't have to worry about it." And they definitely couldn't afford for her to get sick. Bennett always felt bad for those that passed away because of sicknesses and illnesses, these days. Though, if you were going to go, that was sort of a more pleasant way to die than to be eaten alive.
"I'm sorry I didn't notice sooner," that she needed a coat! It was so obvious. But he hadn't exactly been on his game, lately. "You should have said something."
A map? They didn't need a map. They'd be fine. They had been all over New York City together, countless numbers of times. They should know the place like the back of their hands. Bennett hoped and prayed that the streets to the department store stayed relatively calm. "Of course. Where else would I be? I'm your partner. We stick together."
