IJlogin 0.0.2
This version doesn't care if you log in or out through the website or through the add-on. Much more laid-back, don't you think?

Tested on: Firefox 1.8.0.9 / 2.0.0.6 on WinXP, FF 2.0.0.6 / Flock 0.9.0.2 / Netscape 9.0b2 on Vista Home Premium (thanks, folks who let me know their OS!)

ETA:

Known bugs: Cannot set prefs, borks when opening a new window.

Bug reports welcome. Bring 'em on!

OMG IT WORKS I LOVE YOU. I've been trying to work on it myself -- I needed to get around to upgrading Firefox for the new release of LJLogin (one of the many reasons I put off upgrading) and did so tonight.

Oh and randomly, I downloaded last night and installed in both Firefox and Flock and it worked like a dream :)

Thank you!!!

Whee! Thank you!

It works on FF2.0.0.6 for me, in case you're wondering. ^^

I was wondering indeed. Thanks for sparing me a testing session!

Its letting me switch accounts for Mac OS X on 2.0.0.6 release of Firefox. Though it won't let me change the password in the Preferences or set a default account. It won't even show my screen names in the drop down for either of them.

Alright further fiddling has revealed it no longer recognizes the user when I open a new window and when I try to log back in using IJ-login says:

IJlogin: Unknown username

Unknown username. Unable to request session close from InsaneJournal. Log out anyway? Cancel or OK

If I click either it'll log me into whoever I was trying to log in as.

If I go to insanejournal.com, it'll just fully log me out.

Again, using Mac OS X with 2.0.0.6 release of Firefox.

I didn't say this before, but thanks for doing this. Its still a lot easier than having to use the website. I just thought you'd like to know what bugs I'm running into.

Oh yes, I definitely want to know about bugs. Now that you've said it, IJlogin is doing the same things on my install. I'll see what I can do. Thanks for letting me know!

And upon further fiddling, I'm getting the same, or similar, issue of getting logged out when a new popup window comes up (say, the "preview post" dialog, or when I'm adding something to my del.icio.us account), under both Firefox and Flock in Vista HP.

So far, it seems to be working just fine in Vista Home Premium, running Firefox 2.0.0.6! Thank you muchly!

Also, aside from the preferences menu bug, I've now managed to install and run it with no trouble in both Flock 0.9.0.2 and Netscape 9.0b2, both in Vista Home Premium.

Will install and test it out on the XP machine later today, as well.

Are you the one developing this, if so I'll keep you in the loop, we are currently in the process of getting the site up to the latest code base. As soon as I get a couple more bugs worked out, I will start an open beta of the latest code.

I'm not so much developing it as tweaking LJlogin's code to work here, but yes, that's me.

Awesome on the site updates. Thanks you.

Hi there, trying to get the login, and it keeps downloading to my machine as a movie file which automatically launches Quicktime when it hits my desktop.

Unless you're trying to sneak me porn, I'm very confused. XD

Heh, no porn here, sorry. (Do I hear a feature request? ;)

That's weird. Try this if you haven't yet: click here, but instead of clicking the "Click here to start download.." link, right-click, Save Link As ijlogin-0_0_2.xpi. Open that file from the Download Manager.

If that doesn't work, let me know and I'll look for some less ad-tastic file hosting.

Ugh. Yeah, still not working. I got it as a .xpi file this time, but Firefox didn't recognize it as an extension and I couldn't open it.

Does this file type not work with Macs? 'Cuz...that's what the 'Danish is runnin'.

It worked for me on my Mac.

What I did was I downloaded it to my desktop. Open Firefox, went to the menu bar, clicked on File, went down to Open File... found the file on my desktop, and selected it.

I was able to install it that way. Hopefully that is able to help you out.

In an effort to be more helpful...

When I try to open it from the downlowad manager, it tells me it can't open the file because it doesn't know the program that created it. When I go to the File menu in FF and select it through "Open File..." it gives me the following error...

ijlogin install error

You need the newer version of the GJ one, then, which is linked in comments in the LJ Login community on LJ (and, I think, at the top of this community?).

I've got all three running fine on Firefox 2.0.0.6 under Mac OS X 10.4.10

tried to download, but won't open it up, saying there's nothing to open it with it...is my computer dumb?

also, is there just a plug-in for the LJ version or is there a way to make it all work with IJ as well?

I'm on Firefox 2.0.0.6, and everything seems to be working like a dream, EXCEPT! When I click the "preview" on the Update Journal page, it logs out to Unknown User. Just wanted to let you know. Thanks again!

I'm sorry to be a bother, but I was just wondering if it'd be too much trouble to upload it to another site? I'm having major problems getting Mediafire to work for me, though I would really love to use IJLogin (I found the LJ one so helpful, since I maintain more than one account on both sites). *hopeful*

This is awesome, btw. I'm really pleased it's been adapted to work over here. :D

Maybe I'm missing something really obvious but I can't figure out how to install it. I've downloaded the file from mediafire but I can't figure out what to do next. If I click on "Open" it says that Windows cannot open the file, and it wants to know what application I want to use to open it with.

I'm using Windows XP and Firefox 2.0.0.6
