Update

Hey. Just dropping a note to let you guys know what's up. Things have been a little hectic around here, but I've got a weekend off to work on the IE stuff.

I've tested the dropdown menu schemes... not very many problems, mostly dimensional stuff and those tabs acting up in 5.01 and 5.5., 6.0 is pretty much behaving itself except for a few issues with extra whitespace. I'll work on them this weekend and see what I can do.

P.S. - IE 5.01 doesn't display any of the Google ads. Is this a known issue, or is it just acting up?

ETA: The tiny comment font thing from the comments: Ok, so I was looking in the CSS and found that the comment fonts are tiny due to this rule:
#IJ-smallfont .talk-comment { font-size: 80%; }

I changed it to 100% and it looked ok in Firefox, so if Branch or someone can change the stylesheet, that should take care of it.

Comments

Hi,

I don't know if anyone knows about this... I couldn't find anything around here... But in Worksafe (I use the non-dropdown layout), the font for comments is consistently small (8pt at the most), while the font for everything else stays a little above normal (maybe 12 pt?).

It's just my opinion, and I'm only one person, but I'd prefer everything (even comments) to be in 10 or 12pt.

I'm sorry if I posted this in the wrong place. Thank you for letting everyone comment here!

I came to this journal to see if I could find anything about this, too. It's nearly impossible for me to read comments that are more than a sentence or two long without changing the preferences in Firefox (therefore making every other website's font HUGE) or using my mac's Zoom preference.

I see there's been an edit since this has been posted, but both of the sidebar layouts, the fonts are still ridiculously tiny (I have my firefox font preferences at 12pt). I hate using the dropdown versions since if I sign on from a phone, I can't access anything.

The comments should be better now, since the new style has gone live. Please let me know if they're not.

No, this is the right place! Hopefully the comments, at least, are better now. The small font is supposed to be a separate option from the regular font sizes; it's just that we've been testing it on Worksafe. I've asked Squeaky to try and run up the separate template for it soon, because I know a lot of people do want the normal sized fonts, but he's working on the server right now so it might take a little while.

I have a question and I hope this is the right place to ask it. I recently changed - with much glee I might add - my viewing options to the work-safe drop-down menu. I was thrilled to death with this VO because the fonts for both the actual post as well as the comments were much larger. All of a sudden, the comments font is tiny. I can't read my comments page without getting a headache. Is there some reason this happened? Can I adjust this for my journal somehow? There isn't another VO that has a font I can actually read without problems, and as I am trying to make IJ my main journal, being able to actually read the comments would be a big step forward :-)

Working on it! The comment size, in particular, is being sticky, as different operating systems and browsers seem to be following different sizing rules, but I think we've got that mostly ironed out.

The general smallness of Worksafe lately is just the smallfont option being tested. I've asked Squeaky to see if the separate option for this can be done up sometime soon, but he's shoulder deep in server issues so it might be a little bit before that can be done. It will be, though!

Thanks for the quick reply! I view in FF and now the comments font looks PERFECT! So that did fix it and I am eternally grateful :-)
