Okay. So the post Alec just made? Pretty self-explanatory. Sunday night truth or dare. There WILL be plenty of rule-breaking. And no, unlikely to be caught. The way the oath of silence works is that you don't get to say anything regarding what went down in the party to anyone other than whoever's present in that room. And if you don't take the oath then you don't get entrance. Soooooooo. Pretty much this is just a chance for you to let your character relax and have fun.

Truth or dare Idris-style? Not tame at all. There WILL be booze and drama and naughtiness happening if Alec has any say in this at all.

Also, when the party thread goes up, it's going to be a different event posting style. In order to make sure everyone knows exactly what's going on, everyone posts a comment in the thread. No one replies to anyone's comment. Everyone posts a NEW COMMENT. This way, everyone reads everything. No confusion. Feel free to ask questions, come up with truth or dare plots/plots in general. Any ugly truths about your character you want spilt? Feel free to out them here. ;)

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand. The booze will be spiked with truth potions. Just enough to make sure no one gets away with making up stories. :P

No. This is not compulsory, but this will be fun. And the mods hope everyone joins in.

Since the mods weren't too clear about this, the section 3 of the Magical Security Act mentioned in the last Daily Tribune article is an act that allows the government to detain characters they deem a 'threat to magical society' and sentence them without giving trial. It is used only in desperate circumstances, so it shows just how desperate the government is! :)

Deke is being evil and giving Viitoria a potion that'll make her nice for three days.

That'll be Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Though, if a lot of people want to thread, I suppose I could make it a few more days...

Hello everyone! We said we would do this, but never got around to doing it.

But before that, a few reminders for everyone:
- The New Years Presents Exchange is still looking for sign-ups! :) Sign-ups will end November 30th, so get yourself in that! It'll be lots of fun.
- Thanksgiving is this coming Thursday for all American students. American students are free to take Thursday and Friday off of school to visit family! Whether or not classes will still be held depends on the teacher! Most teachers will call classes off as well, but Higher Science I & II and Herbology & Potions will still be held! So check your schedules and see if your character has class. :) (Looks like everyone has Potions on either Thursday or Friday, sucks to be everyone, I guess.)

And now, for the part you've been waiting for...

Plot posts are so players can comment with quirky plots they'd like played out (ex: Arion accidentally sneezed and turned seahorse in the middle of the quad, oh noes!) but don't have a particular person to thread with. This would be where other players can pick up on the plot and perhaps have a place to plan it as well (for those of us who are AIM!shy, like Mei.) This is also the place to go if you're just itching for a thread and you don't really have anything in mind!

Comment here with your idea or just a shout-out for general threading action. It can be as detailed or as general as you want! Similarly, if you see something you're interested in or a character you haven't had a chance to play with, please do respond to them!

Your mods are tired and life is mean, so there is no newspaper article (yet?) Not all of this is public knowledge, so please read through everything before reacting. But, here is what has happened this weekend:

Early Sunday morning, Alrick Montague was found dead in his house in Rome. Cause of death seems to be asphyxiation; in fact, all of the oxygen was drained from his body, making this not any normal attack.

Currently, not much information is known. The newspapers have not published anything just yet, because the Magical Governance is withholding information.

All Faie from prominent European families should already know, however, that Alrick is dead. There has been a bit of an uproar in the Faie community, but since the newspapers and media are being suppressed by the governance, details as to why the Faie community is upset is still unknown to those who are not Faie. Feel free to spread rumors. (Or, if you play a Faie, feel free to speculate and announce information to the rest of the school!)

Also, Rome has mysteriously been shut down. Contact to anyone inside of Rome will be suspended until late Monday night and nobody will be able to enter or leave the city. This means that if your characters have relatives or friends in Rome, they will be unable to reach these people until very late Monday night. Oliver and Laura will be detained in Rome until Monday night as well and will not be able to contact anyone from Idris until then. All suspects will be interrogated.

Hey all,

Since a few players are away I was wondering who might be on tomorrow (Thursday) to go with Oli to a concert in Rome. I want to start the thread tomorrow if possible although it takes place on Saturday night.

So let me know if you are available and what charrie wants to hang out with my boy at a rock concert.

Remember that vision Nathan saw a few days ago...? It's all becoming clear... (and it's quite long. This is Mei's brain at 5am. Omg why is it 5am?)

As the newspaper article noted, a fight broke out between two students on the quad. If your character is not listed as a relationship here, feel free to have them know the two students. We couldn't include everyone in the direct plot, so if you're not in it, your character probably wasn't present during the fight, sorry! But don't worry! We'll have plenty of plots in the future!

The tl;dr? Read the newspaper article. Also, the power went out at half of Idris Academy (mostly dorms) around 5:30pm on Friday and didn't come back up until 8pm. The newspaper article came out Saturday morning, but I'm sure it was the talk of the school well before then. Amelia and Sullivan didn't leave for the London hospital until Saturday morning, though.

EDIT: Just a note, the mods decided to replace the NPC Faie with Fionan, who was seriously injured in the fight and sent to the hospital, and eventually home.

Viitoria needs plot... D: I'm not really sure what to do with her. She's got like, 1.5 friends left. And most people aren't really enemies, they're just people she can't bother to interact with.

WHICH IS ENTIRELY MY FAULT. For, you know, making her a total bitch that nobody ever tries to go near.

But yeah. Plot would be nice. Anything, really. Or suggestions for what the Head Girl would do.

Hey guys! :) Mei is in a chipper mood today and is excited, which means she's spamming you with mod posts!

- Some of you got emails a few days ago about the upcoming mod plot! Don't worry, it will all become clear this weekend! The plot hasn't been set in place yet, but we're putting a few things down to get it started. So look forward to that! We'll have an OOC mod post up explaining everything in detail most likely Saturday night or Sunday.

- Halloween, an American holiday, is this Saturday! There's no actual celebration, but the school is allowing school dress code appropriate costumes for students to wear all day Friday if they wish to celebrate. Because there are so many American students at Idris, some townspeople do leave candy outside of their doors Halloween night. And sometimes students like to hand out candy as well.

- We just finished a round of removals, unfortunately, and lost 8 characters. (Sad...) Hunter, Z, Evelina, Shou, Lily, Dick, Eli, and Fionan! (Sadface!) If you had plot with one of those characters and need to write them out for some reason, please let the mods know what you're thinking. For now, Z will remain in school and be NPC'd.

First off, some of you should have gotten an email about an upcoming plot! Please respond to it as soon as you can, so we can get it rolling?

Secondly, the first dragon racing match of the year will happen Saturday (today!) starting at 1pm! The mods talked it over, and here is how we think things will go down:

Thank you to those of you who responded to the survey! (Except the one that Mei had to force...) If you haven't already, we ask that you please do, because your opinions are important to us. And please don't hesitate to email/IM one or both of the mods with any questions, plot suggestions, concerns, etc. that you may have. (There is always the drop box as well! That does allow anonymous comments, if you feel the need to remain anonymous.) We love you all, we love knowing what you think, and we seriously don't bite.

A few things that you guys suggested that we are implementing and/or would like further opinions on:
- Rewards for activity? The mods like this idea, but we are unsure as to what we would reward. If you have anything you'd like, feel free to let us know.

- Looking-For-Plot posts! We are considering posting bi-weekly and/or monthly Plot posts in the OOC community where players can comment with quirky plots they'd like played out (ex: Arion accidentally sneezed and turned seahorse in the middle of the quad, oh noes!) but don't have a particular person to thread with. Where other players can pick up on the plot and perhaps have a place to plan it as well (for those of us who are AIM!shy, like Mei.)

- Plot ideas! The mods would like to include the characters more one-on-one in our plots. We will contact you individually when we come up with something that might fit your characters, but we encourage you to come to us if you have anything that you think might be fun.

- EDIT: Someone made the suggestion of having teachers playable as well. The mods are considering this, and would very much like your opinion. We were thinking of either having an Idris University (either a separate campus altogether on another side of the town, or adding 4 more years to the original Idris plan so you guys could play older characters) or having adults playable (people who live in town, maybe teachers, people who have stayed behind in the town after graduating, or adults who have graduated but are still keeping in touch and visiting.) Opinions? Would you like to play either, do you have anything against either idea. New ideas are always welcomed!

Speaking of plots... the mods are working on one right now! :) It should be out in about a day, so keep your eyes peeled for that!

Hey gang! I'm messing around and Rocky has decided he wants to make a banner for TFU to use when they are promoting the club, so...I did some searching on the internet to see what symbols would be good for representing Therians and Faie. I'm putting the choices behind a cut to save space.

On Monday, an announcement was posted: (Yes, we know we're a little late, please excuse your mods as we run around like headless chickens trying to not die from school.)

Attention all students:

In light of recent international events, Idris Academy feels that it is our responsibility to build a peaceful and accepting environment. With all of the fighting outside, we must remain strong and learn to work together. Because of this, the Fall Formal this coming Friday will be a little different from our previous formals.

The theme will be a Masquerade Ball, and attendance is mandatory of all students. Attire for the ball should be formal, and all students will be required to wear a mask. If you do not come with a mask, one will be provided for you. The ballroom will be charmed such that everyone will be able to remain completely anonymous.

The point of this ball is to build relationships amongst the student body. It is to prove that magical abilities and family history aside, we are all still human, and it is entirely possible to befriend anyone else as long as you look past the surface.

A little bit more information on the formal:

Names when stated will simply vanish into the air and will not be heard. Certain attributes of people (James' stuttering, for example) will be noticed, but will only be registered as, "that seems familiar." (In other words, if Arion were talking to a short boy who stuttered a lot, he would think to himself, "this sounds familiar" but would not be able to pinpoint exactly that it was James.) At midnight, the charms and spells will disappear and the person(s) you have just been spending the entire night with will be revealed to you.

No, you don't have to thread there if you don't want to. But your character has to make an appearance. Meaning, even if you don't thread, you have to assume that your character did attend.

The mods would like to know what you guys think and also how you guys would like to play this out. One method would be to just thread it like a normal event and have the identities of the characters be completely OOC knowledge. The other idea would be to make the thread completely anonymous so that even players don't know who they're threading with. There's also the possibility of either pairing players up randomly or just having players decide who they want to play with. Or, something entirely different. It's up to you guys.

EDIT: Thanks to alex_bristow for reminding me! Monday, October 12th is Thanksgiving for Canadians. It is not a holiday for everyone, but anyone who is Canadian can talk to the Headmaster about it and take Monday off to spend with family. (If memory serves, I think we only have one Canadian anyways.)

Once you finish a scene, comment on this post to let me know! I'll add your respective house points.

There is no time limit to finishing scenes, so take your time and plot this out. For the most part, rule breaking that happens in these scenes will go unpunished (but try not to abuse this.) We wouldn't want to force your character to take punishments, after all. We tried our best to make these scenes as general as possible so you could be creative.

And a few other things to make note of:

- Monday, Oct. 5th is Richard Rhodes' birthday!

- Next Friday (the 9th) is Idris' Fall Formal! The mods were thinking of having a masquerade theme where students go in costumes and masks, and remain anonymous until midnight, when the masks are removed. Thoughts, suggestions, comments, questions? We'd love to hear them!

- Since we have a play rehearsal thread up, we'll just assume that the play itself was a huge success and not have an event thread up for that. If actors want to thread any backstage interaction, feel free to do so in the rehearsal thread!

- Since the school play is next Friday, this is the last call for interested characters or characters who may be interested in switching to a more major role! (Or just a role in general.) Let us know!

- It is that time again! Scene lottery time! For those of you who are unfamiliar, a scene lottery is where all characters that sign up are randomly paired (or tripled; depending on the amount of characters signing up, some characters might end up doing two scenes) and given a completely random (and usually quirky) scene that they can play out.

It will help with character interaction, since some characters might not meet up under normal circumstances. And, for every time your character completes a scene lottery scene (and by complete, we mean that both characters finish writing an entire thread between them!) they earn 10 points towards their house. If you want to sign up just comment here with the characters you'd like to offer for this.

Pairings and scene assignments will most likely come out October 3rd!
