.jpg
or
.png
?
Which do you use? Why? Is there a difference (that you can tell) between the two?

I switched to .png long looooong ago! I have the feeling that even on the top settings, .jpg has a certain compression/loss of colour which png doesn't, but I don't know for sure.

.png! I noticed once upon a time that with .jpg my icons were turning out absolutely terrible so I asked some people and they convinced me to use .png. I think that .png better preserves the pretty. It's like, .png cares more for how the picture literally looks when you save it, rather than with .jpg which damages the colours and stuff for the sake of compression.

.png! I even cap in .png, though sometimes I then convert the caps over to .jpg. I've seen some people use .jpg and the icons still turned out awesome, but it's not worth it for me. Icons take up so little space as it is, I'll sacrifice a little bit of space for better looking icons.

I've been using .png for years now. While jpg may make the files smaller and load faster, .png preserves the quality of the image more.

I use .png for everything that I've capped myself, because I use .png for the actual caps. If I'm using an image that someone else has capped as a .jpg (like the Tarty Doris pics), I'll generally just leave it as a .jpg, because the image quality is already a bit poor, so turning it into a .png at the icon stage doesn't seem to make much difference.
If I were using text, h/e, I would alwaysalways use .png.

JPG compresses images in a way they lose the life and color
I usually SAVE FOR WEB > PNG not just saveas, this way i can control the compression and make sure they're the right size.
