Despite everything he had said to Lord Edgar Adith had not been completely satisfied that his vision had been the result over an over-active imagination. It had been so real, so vivid and even now when he closed his eyes he could see it all over again, the man's last moments. Instead of returning home as he had promised Adith had waited, pacing up and down the street; pulling his jacket closer to him as the night began to bite.
"Most likely" He muttered to himself, "It was nothing." Certainly he'd been there a good hour and a half. He paused, wondering if he should begin the walk home or wait a little longer.
It was then that he heard the sound, a terrible unearthly noise - coming from the top of the road. He squinted into the distance but the fog was too thick to make anything out properly. Adith didn't need to be able to see it though. He knew that sound, had heard it before. It was the sound the creature had made in his vision. Without a second thought he took off, up the road, running as fast as he could - only hoping he could make it in time or that Lord Edgar was not the subject of the monster's attack.
