Adith paused then. If the man was going on to another engagement, a dinner then perhaps the vision had been a mistake after all. Adith could have sworn that he had seen him walking alone in the night, back from the street outside but obviously that was impossible. It had to have been a false vision then. He had worked himself up, with the newspaper article and..hadn’t there been something about Lord Edgar opening a new Town Hall? His mind must simply have created a dreadful scenario from those two unconnected incidents.
He took a step towards the door, feeling deflated. It was not that he wanted the man to be in any real danger, but it was the fact that once again his vision had been a false one. It was becoming harder and harder to know what was real and what was something concocted.
He paused at the door, looking up at Lord Edgar. “Yes, I did read it and I think I convinced myself of something that wasn’t true.” He bit his lip, still unable to shake the uneasy feeling in the pit of his stomach. “You will take a cab though, won’t you?”
