You do not need to be a member of hogwartsrising to vote on sorting applications. Non-member comments are, however, screened. If you are a member, voting on an application earns 1 house point per application. There is a +1 point bonus for using a sigtag (no less than 500 pixels in total dimensions) or house pride icon and another +1 bonus for an elaborated vote (more than one sentence explaining why you are voting the way you are). Top sorters will earn a personalized sigtag and 10 extra points for their house.
Be respectful when you sort. From time to time, we'll have applications posted that make you want to roll your eyes and say something snarky. However, to minimize drama, we ask that your be courteous and friendly when you sort.
Don't respond to comments, whether it's your own application or someone else's. Having a ton of extraneous comments makes it difficult to count the votes and there should really be no need to comment to anyone else in a sorting application, anyway.
Try your best to find a house for the applicant. If you absolutely cannot place them, you are free to issue a no vote, but be sure and (politely) explain why you are no voting them. Applicants who receive a majority of no votes will not be placed and will be invited to re-apply.
Applications will generally be stamped on Sundays of Mondays. The sorting manager will count up all the votes and stamp the application with one of the following banners, depending on which house that applicant is being placed in.
If you feel we have placed you in the wrong house, you are welcome to appeal your sort by filling out and posting the appeal application (coming soon) to hr_sorting . We do, however, ask that you give your house a fair chance before appealing. Appeals will not be grated to any member who has not both posted an introduction to their common room and participated in at least one activity and a member must have been sorted at least one month prior to his or her appeal.
Community Guidelines
Save the drama for yo mama. In short, we are all adults. Drama will not be tolerated. Not only will creating or perpetuating drama lose your house points, but repeat offenders will eventually be banned.
FUN. That's what we're here for. There will be competition, of course, but again please remember to be adults about it. Remember that we're here to have fun. Don't make us be the bitchy mods. We want to have fun, too, and if you're ruining our fun with drama, you can definitely expect to face some consequences.
No house bashing. This goes along with the first two guidelines. (Are we sensing a pattern, yet?) Making generalizations about any one house in a way that could incite drama is not going to be tolerated. One again, we're all adults. If you don't like/don't get along with someone, ignore them. If you can't ignore them, at least be civil. If you can't do that, approach one of the mods to have the situation mediated. Any house/member bashing will be dealt with and will result in loss of points for your house.
Be excellent to each other. Seriously, guys, we want this to be a pleasant and fun place. We don't expect everyone to be BFF to everyone else, but we do expect you to treat one another with respect within the confines of the community.
