As Draco slipped inside the office his father looked up at him. “It’s only polite to knock before entering a man’s office, Draco,” Lucius drawled, putting down his quill and looking at his son with a slight snarl.

Draco didn’t answer at once, but walked over to the armchair in the corner of his father’s office. He threw himself dramatically in it before saying: “I’m bored.”

“Find something to entertain yourself with,” Lucius said, still looking down at the paperwork, the quill again between his fingers.

“I’ve already tried,” was the sulky answer from the corner. “But there’s nothing to do around here!”

“Clever children are never bored,” Lucius drawled, now scribbling away on the parchment before him.

Draco gave an indignant snort, but said nothing. His gaze slipped over the walls covered with book shelves and paintings. He heaved a deep sigh and looked over at his father who was still writing.

“What are you writing, Father?”

“Nothing that would interest you, I’m sure,” Lucius replied, his face calm and concentrated as he signed the parchment with a last flick of his wrist. He put down his quill again and looked up at the child sprawled in the armchair. His eyes glided over Draco, from his chest, down along his outstretched legs to his naked feet.

“And why do you think that, Draco?”

“Well, I already suggested something you could do,” his father replied dryly.
