1. My username is ______ because ______: ~texmas, because "Texmas" was my nickname in Boston. Everyone teased me about being from Texas, because as we all know, people from New England think that people from below the mason dixon line ride horses to school. And that our dads are all named Bubba. Wait...
shit.
Anyway, one girl there would call me "Texas," then she started calling me "Texmas" while pretending to be unsure of the proper pronunciation. So I called her "Massemachusetts." Anyway, we all got to be good buddies, but they still call me Texmas.
2. My name is _____ because ______: ~'Lesbian Yellow-Sour-Fruit,' because I love 30 Rock, and that's the author's name that Liz Lemon's book was illegally published under in China. I thought it was pretty amazing.
3. My journal is titled ____ because ____: ~'Wish On Space Hardware,' largely because of the song, "A New England," by Billy Bragg. I adore that song, and it's such a good Matt/Becky song. Hell, it's a good Snape/Lily song. Also because it reminded me of Doctor Who, and because nothing else would fit in the space provided on my layout. I thought about making it ~Gynecologist Wotsit in honor of CM's Sirius Black, but it didn't fit as well.
4. My default userpic is ____ because ____: A cool icon in which Four is going all WTF? Before that, It was my icon of Eleven, because THE ELEVENTH DOCTOR IS SECRETLY REMUS LUPIN. It is decided. |

It was a single word that changed the fate of the wizarding world- just one slight change from a magical object that would later lead to the early death of the Dark Lord and save the lives of hundreds- but also stop one person from being born.
Ravenclaw.
Little Lily Evans was never sorted into a house that would force her to be around James Potter, and instead ended up in the house of the witty students who could be friends with all the other houses without issue. After seven years of schooling she would date Severus Snape, and marry him only a few months after leaving school. Without the birth of Harry Potter, the Dark Lord’s attention would be passed to Neville Longbottom instead.
With the Fidelius Charm placed upon a tucked away home, the Longbottoms entrusted Arthur Weasley as their secret keeper and survived in secret while Dumbledore discovered the truth of Voldemort’s Horcruxes, and was able to defeat him in 1981- but at the cost of his own life.
As the dust settled, the survivors slowly stepped out into the light and found themselves finally safe from the Death Eaters. Some were thrown in jail, some died after their Lord perished. But families were rebuilt and it seemed that finally life had come back to sanity.
But no calm lasts forever, and slowly the Death Eaters reformed under the guidance of wanted fugitives Bellatrix and Rodolphus Lestrange who have found a new hiding place in wizarding London. And on January 1st of 1998 the Dark Mark will be looming over Number twelve, Grimmauld Place. |

1. My username is ______ because ______: morgielefae because my name is Morgan, which Morgie is sort of a diminutive of, I suppose? I don't know. People called me that and I eventually grew to accept it. And also, Morgan le Fay from Arthurian Legend. Except with more fairy. So Morgie le Fae!
2. My name is _____ because ______: Lo Haze because my nickname is Lo. Lo is one of the many, many nicknames of Dolores Haze, the title character of my favourite book, Lolita.
3. My journal is titled ____ because ____: It doesn't have one because I'm lazy. However, at my livejournal, it's "You know I ain't no Juliet", which is a lyric from my favourite song by Amanda Palmer, Ampersand. Let's say I personally identify with the song thanks to a crazy ex.

1. My username is ______ because ______: kitten_patronus because we were making fun of the lamb patronus way back on GJ, so I made the journal "kitten_patronus" there as a joke, and then ended up using it as a CDJ when I split my CDJ from my icon journal. And then when we migrated to IJ, I decided I loved it too much to switch.
2. My name is _____ because ______: "brandi should wrap herself in bubble wrap" ... I think I changed my name field to that after I fell up the stairs and bashed my arm something good last summer, and I was mimicking our name fields at FTH.
3. My journal is titled ____ because ____: It has no title. :(
4. My default userpic is ____ because ____: my "... hello." kitty! I made this icon years ago and I just absolutely loved it (narcissism, thy name is occasionally Brandi) and so ever since I started using kitten_patronus on GJ, it's remained my default icon.

1. My username is ______ because ______: amor_remanet; Well, back at the end of ninth grade, when I got my first livejournal, I'd been using Duanya as an online alias (still seen in my email address) and various forms of Sailor Moon-themed silliness as backups. Duanya came from a D&D character who got shot in the face and died; the Sailor Moon stuff was just me being an obsessive fan-nerd. Anyway, when I got to LJ, I wanted to do something ~different~ and ~new~… so I put my four years of Latin class to work and made up a Latin username. It translates to "love remains," which I thought was being Poignant And Cool… and then it just stuck and I'm too attached to change it.
2. My name is _____ because ______: "Kassie: a wild tl;dr monster" because, for ages, it was "Kassie, guardian angel of emo angsty boys" courtesy of something sherlock said on some snaps cup meme (I think it was a snaps cup meme anyway?) a while back, and as much as I loved that name, I thought a change was worthwhile. Also, I talk too much.
3. My journal is titled ____ because ____: "no, not the young people. they shall be spared." This is one of my favorite lines from the translation of Strindberg's The Ghost Sonata I read for Theatre History in my freshman year. Mostly, it's because I just really liked that line. Likewise, the subtitle is, "it could be worse! we could be stuck in the audience!" from one of my favorite lines in Muppet Treasure Island. (Statler and Waldorf are the figureheads on the bow of the ship. They're discussing how much it sucks to be stuck on said bow.)

My inner Lexi is getting very uncomfortable with this experiment in the video we're watching in class. It's talking about being in an absolutely dark room with no light at all, and whether you'd still be able to see anything or not.
My poor little claustrophobe is freaking out at the thought of being in a completely dark room without even the barest hint of light.
*pats her*
(These middle schoolers are so cute that they think that your eyes can just adjust to absolute complete darkness. Even after six minutes in the dark, this one girl was still adamant that your eyes would adjust ... even if "it might take a few years" ........ wtf)
ETA: WAIT, OMG, MY MIND IS BEING BLOWN RIGHT THIS MOMENT: CHILDREN HAVE MINDS OF THEIR OWN!!! |

To answer questions! No, I have not died! No, I'm not sure I'm alive, either. D: I've not yet started to crave any odd foods, so that's at least a good sign! Whether this will last though the rest of the Christmas season has yet to be seen. I would like to warn you if I start to mumble about "braaaaaaaiiiiins", I would have wanted you to do the humane thing and put me out of my misery. Although I'm hoping that the future weeks, until the week of Christmas, won't be as physically and mentally draining as this past week was.
...I've just pretty much invoked murphey's law by even typing that, haven't I? |

I really, really, really want to play Alastor Moody at a First War RPG. And because it would probably be the best thing that ever existed, I really want to use this man as his PB:

Yes, yes, the book was better than the movie, Diet Coke is bad for you, Snape kills Dumbledore, I know. I know. But I thought the movie was good, and Rorschach is awesome. I couldn't help but be reminded of Moody when I was watching the movie again this weekend, and I think Rorschach would make a great First War Moody.
Even though he kind of looks like a grown up TS!Benjy, which makes me feel a little weird, and Dedalus feel really weird.
I thought about picking him up at TS before the vodka wore of and I realized that this would be exceptionally difficult. Is anyone looking for a Moody? |
