 Life can change in an instant. One second, one inch makes all the difference. 25 March, 1998; everything changed. After breaking the taboo on Voldemort's name, Harry, Ron and Hermione were captured and taken to Malfoy where they were only saved with the intervention of Dobby, the House Elf who was tragically killed. What if not everything went according to plan? As Dobby gripped Harry's hand, Bellatrix Lestrange hurled her knife across the room, one second earlier. It struck, one inch to the left. As Dobby collapsed, Voldemort arrived and Harry Potter was plunged into the hands of the Dark Lord. Now, it is nearing the end of 1998. Life has flowed on with little to disrupt Voldemort's puppet Ministry. For a time things seemed calm, as the Ministry slowed changes and life started to return to normal. Yet, rumours have started to circulate that Pius Thicknese is about to retire from the post of Minister and will soon be replaced by someone so much more sinister. Voldemort would only sit back for so long and that time has now passed. It will not be long now. Welcome to Inimicum! The wizarding world fell into peaceful times following Harry's seventh year at Hogwarts. Unfortunately, peace doesn't last forever. Painswick University is the oldest wizarding university in the United Kingdom. Nestled in the hills of England, Painswick has been home to the academics of the wizarding world. With a vast program of studies in a small town with a personal feel, Painswick can offer incredible opportunities to witches and wizards looking to further their educational journey. We see Painswick University as a fantastic opportunity for more adult character development and a chance to put the Harry Potter canon in a new environment. But what would happen if the Muggles found out about the wizarding world? And what if, among the Muggles, there was a group keen on causing a stir akin to the Salem Witch Trials? In this AU Harry Potter generation RP, Painswick University shows us just what can happen when the wizarding world as a whole comes under attack. |

It is the year 2000, the Wizarding World of Great Britain has been under the Dark Lord's rule for four years. The Golden-trio is no closer to solving the puzzle of victory than they were immediately following their beloved Headmaster's death. Muggleborns have been rounded up into camps or held in cells at Azkaban. Those under the spell of the Complacens potion remain content with the government, but there are those who are beginning to fight it. There are few that are beginning to build immunity to the potion and are assembling secretly underground. Where will you be? Will you continue to live under the draconian rule of the Dark Lord? Game opened on July 30. Most wanted characters by other players include: Severus Snape, Hermione Granger, Horace Slughorn, Amycus Carrow, Tracey Davis, Angelina Johnson, Alicia Spinnet, Kingsley Shacklebolt and Neville Longbottom. | In 1995 the world is changing, and not everything is the way it has been in the life of Harry Potter or his friends. Fifteen years ago the Potters placed a Fidelius Charm upon their home with the help of James Potter’s best friend Sirius Black. It was because of this that Lord Voldemort never discovered the location of the Potter home, thus, Lily and James Potter were very much alive. Also hidden, the Longbottoms avoided their own ghastly fate. Harry grew up in a loving home under the protection of the Charm and is far from the poor boy that he once would have been at Privet drive. With his parents around, Neville was not coddled, but loved and became well balanced early on in life. Upon entering Hogwarts, Harry soon learned the world was not exactly as his parents and uncles had made it out to be. Neville was pleased that everything was what he had hoped for. In the years since Lord Voldemort’s disappearance the Wizarding World had become a place of tension and strife. Wizards that were Pure-bloods were looked upon with suspicions, Half-bloods were being shunned by both sides for not being on one side or the other, and Muggle-borns were vanishing before they had a chance to even attend Hogwarts. In this world the Order worked to protect the Muggle-borns and get them out of the country for their own safety. The Aurors arrive after the attacks and have the gruesome job of cleaning up. No one is sure who leads these attacks, but everyone suspects the socialite Bellatrix Black Lestrange and the fair Lord Lucius Malfoy. The Ministry of Magic is split in two. When the current Minister, Bartemius Crouch Senior, came into office he led the largest dark wizard hunt of the century. Unfortunately, his wide nets caught up the blundering or the stupid but allowed the slipperiest of the Dark Lord’s followers through, including the Minister’s own son. Barty Crouch Jr, still firmly in under the direction his Lord went on to work for his father at the Minstry. At the beginning of the 1995 school year he was inducted as the current Defense Against the Dark Arts professor. The Ministry is rife with the corruption of the Death Eaters lying in wait for their Lord’s return. Their day is here and now. If the Order cannot handle it, if the Ministry is too subverted to control it, then what are the two Prophesied Children to do? It is up for Harry and Neville to hopefully rise to the occasion, for the sake of the Wizarding World |

 A poltergeist who randomly switches furniture from one flat to another, even (as in the case of a bed) while it's still being used. A caretaker's skeleton key charm which goes awry and passes the effect onto random building inhabitants, giving wayward sorts like Lee Jordan a means to "break into" other residents' homes and generally make a nuisance of themselves. A scraggly but oddly attractive bum who adopts the building's entrance as his own and tells tenants, such as Luna Lovegood and Anthony Goldstein, that they are the reincarnations of Nimwe and Merlin respectively. And that's just what's been happening recently. Welcome to Euterpe's Corner. Whatever else it may be, it's never boring. We are an experienced and fun (if dubiously sane, much like some of our characters) collection of players looking for some new blood to flesh out a comprehensive cast and contribute a few key characters. Those characters would be: OLIVER WOOD: We had a fantastic Oliver with a great dynamic within his flat (dubbed the pro Quidditch flat) but the player sadly had to leave us due to LJ accessing issues. Wilda Griffiths and Meaghan McCormack would love a new Oliver to tease, and their respective players would open their arms to you. Plus Oliver gets to live in a cushy upper level flat! DENNIS CREEVEY: Some more characters in their late teens would be good to balance out the comparitively geriatric 20-somethings, and a wizard who lost a sibling during the war would have a lot of good material to work with characterisation-wise. It is a lighter game set in 2002 and things have settled down since the war (Slytherin even had its first Muggleborn student!), but some scars remain and there are residents who were incarcerated during the war, so he wouldn't be out of place. NEVILLE LONGBOTTOM: Another character whose progress after the war would be interesting to track. Our fantastically played (but rather lonely) Luna currently has no flatmates, so she would welcome either Neville, a Dennis, or a HANNAH ABBOTT.  On 2 May 1998, the Second War finally came to an end - and with the death of Harry Potter, a new era of peace, stability, and the return of purist rule and wizarding superiority over Muggles has begun. It has now been over a year since the Battle of Hogwarts and the Ministry of Magic under Pius Thicknesse has continued to thrive. Pure-bloods once again hold positions of power. The misguided students of the perversely named Dumbledore's Army are being reformed into well-behaved citizens who dutifully serve their government. Promising young wizards from the old families are recruited into the new Knights of Walpurgis to foster political and social connections among the elite. More Muggle-born criminals are safely locked away each day to protect those worthy of magic. The balance of freedom between the wizards and Muggles is finally tipping back into the favour of the magical world for the first time since the International Statute of Secrecy was passed in 1692. Despite all of the current regime's successes, however, there are still terrorists - such as the Order of the Phoenix - and dissenters who would betray the Ministry and everything it stands for from within and without. For most, the war is over - and for others, it never ended and will not until the world has descended into anarchy once more. --- The REPUBLIC is a dark AU Post-warts game that follows canon up until the end of the first half of the Battle of Hogwarts. In the AU-verse, Voldemort succeeded in killing Harry Potter in the forest, and the Ministry of Magic under the control of the Death Eaters has continued to become more and more powerful with each passing month. Harry Potter didn't think he'd be boarding the Hogwarts Express for his final year, but the events of summer 97 made it all possible. The trio, with the aid of the Order, managed to find and destroy each horcrux. It had been the most difficult three months of their lives, but the Wizarding World was safe once again. Safe does not mean peaceful, however. Some argue over the imprisonment of Death Eaters. Others cannot believe Voldemort is dead. And still others are boastful over the Light's win. The Ministry is rebuilding itself, but at a price since the people of the wizarding world are distrustful toward those in charge. Meanwhile, Hogwarts is not the place all once knew. Minerva McGonagall is headmistress while Severus Snape, his name cleared, has taken over potions and Slytherin Head once again. Snape's old nemesis, Remus Lupin, has returned as DADA professor and Gryffindor Head. Yet, no one can forget the attack on the school. The Malfoys, saved by Narcissa's lie for Harry, have regained their fortune, but are relative outcasts now that most of their partners, friends, and acquaintances are either imprisoned or deceased. The world is learning to operate as one, but old loyalties and beliefs die hard. Who will embrace a life where all blood is good? Who will attempt to fight the changing tide and uphold the values of old? Only time will tell, but no one expects a bump free road either inside or outside of Hogwarts. As a lighter post-Hogwarts game set in 2002 and interested in developing the lives of characters several years after the war, we already have over 30 taken characters but are looking for some key figures to further flesh out our cast. If you are looking for a game with an experienced, creative and a friendly collection of writers who have a good grasp of how interpersonal dynamics between characters work, and a couple of mods who encourage player-initiated plots and who aren't totally inflexible and nitpicky and won't make you replace your PB because your character is 23 years old and the actor looks more like 22 years and 5 months or has appeared in a film maybe five people watched once and is therefore too famous and so forth, you may be interested in checking us out.
We're due to start on July 1, 2008 and still have many colourful characters up for grabs. The post on current flats (though this can be negotiable) can be found here, with more on the premise and the different styles of flats available here. Below is some information on characters we're actively looking for and ideas of how they could work in the game.
