Failed attempts is a Harry Potter displacement game set in an unknown location run by unpredictable magic, in an unknown time. Canon characters (from the Founders through Next-Gen) appear from any point in their natural timeline and are forced to co-exist while everything around them remains uncertain. The opportunities are truly endless.

Culture. Blood. Friendship. There was a time when the lines were clear and the boundaries firm. That time died with Voldemort. Now, a generation who thought they'd already won the war are finding out that the war was a symptom, not the disease. Arguments over blood status have shifted focus but remain no less heated. The internet lives forever and travels faster than any owl, even without the help of magic. In the technology-saturated world of 2006, wizards are in danger of finding out first-hand what the consequences of that might be. It's getting harder every day for the Ministry to protect its citizens from exposure and the old tried-and-true methods haven't kept pace with muggle advancements. Without hard work, sacrifice and maybe a miracle or two, life as everybody knows it is doomed to change forever and they're running out of time to stop it. There are those who don't believe revealing magic to muggles would be such a terrible thing, however. Among them is a shadowy new group whose methods are unknown but whose motives have recently become clear. They want the Statute of Secrecy overturned, regardless of the consequences, and they aren't willing to wait forever. They've already started taking steps to force the Ministry's hand and although they seem unwilling to break the masquerade themselves, nobody knows if or when that might change. If you're not with them, you're against them - an "enemy of wizard-kind" whose name has been posted on a list of others like you. It's a list that's growing smaller as threats are made, blood is spilled and names are crossed off once and for all. | |

The Golden-trio is only marginally closer to solving the puzzle of victory than they were immediately following their beloved Headmaster's death. Muggleborns have been rounded up and held in cells at Azkaban. Those under the spell of the Complacens potion remain content with the government, but there are those who are beginning to fight it; those few that are beginning to build immunity to the potion and are assembling secretly underground. Where will you be when the world as we now know it burns to the ground? Will you continue to live under the draconian rule of the Dark Lord? Game opened on July 30, 2010. Epic battles are on the horizon, as is the battle between Harry and the Dark Lord, between good and evil.  CHARACTER LIST • PB LIST • APPLICATION • RULES • WANTED CHARACTERS Liberalis A Post-Warts, Non Deathly Hallows Compliant Game By the spring of 1999 the Trio had collected and destroyed all six of the Horcruxes and they set out to find the Dark Lord hoping to end it once and for all. At the climax of the duel, Harry gained the upper hand and Voldemort, knowing he had seconds left, used his last lifeline: a time turner. With the fall of their Lord, the Death Eaters abandoned the battle and it appeared to the wizarding world that their greatest enemy had been defeated. Unknown to them, the time turner had brought Voldemort into 2002 where he was already gathering his followers and one more Horcrux still remained. Voldemort had unknowingly created another when he had killed Harry's parents and attempted to kill Harry. The newly shattered part of his soul was transferred into the infant when the Dark Lord cast the killing curse. The New Year of 2003 would be marked with tragedy. The Dark Lord would announce his return at the Ministry’s Annual New Year’s Ball where innocents were attacked and dozens were slaughtered. In the aftermath of the battle, accusatory eyes turned to the once celebrated hero; Harry Potter. Overnight the news spread and people began to feel again the terror that had yet to fade completely. Over the next few months the Ministry worked around the clock to assure the people that this time wouldn’t be like the last; this time they should place their trust with the government and not in the hands of an adolescent hero. The Ministry’s demeanor became one of confidence. He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named had struck out twice already and this time the situation would be handled properly. Voldemort had other plans. On June 23rd the Ministry of Magic fell. Trust and security was shattered when Voldemort and his army entered the Ministry building, having been given access from within. Death Eaters and dark creatures alike swarmed through the structure, destroying everything in their path; among the dead was found every member of the Wizengamot including the Minister of Magic himself. Once and for all the Dark Lord proved what he was capable of. With their Headquarters in ruins, the Ministry has been forced to relocate and is scrambling to come to terms with their losses and what it meant for the future. Wizarding Britain looks to the future with little hope while the Trio desperately search for the missing piece, knowing that if the Dark Lord had returned that their mission had not yet been completed. The wizarding world fell into peaceful times following Harry's seventh year at Hogwarts. Unfortunately, peace doesn't last forever. Painswick University is the oldest wizarding university in the United Kingdom. Nestled in the hills of England, Painswick has been home to the academics of the wizarding world. With a vast program of studies in a small town with a personal feel, Painswick can offer incredible opportunities to witches and wizards looking to further their educational journey. We see Painswick University as a fantastic opportunity for more adult character development and a chance to put the Harry Potter canon in a new environment. But what would happen if the Muggles found out about the wizarding world? And what if, among the Muggles, there was a group keen on causing a stir akin to the Salem Witch Trials? In 1975 the Dark Lord and his Death Eaters conquered the Ministry and placed themselves at the pinnacle of society. In 2000, life remains the same. The old Death Eaters and their descendants make up the elite. Corruption is rife and, anyone foolish enough to question their actions, will find themselves dead or charged with treason. Blood is all important. Everyone in society is forced to register their blood status, which is the critical measure of how they can live their lives. Muggleborns are exiled and purebloods are heavily favoured in every aspect of the new nation. The once effective Order of the Phoenix is only a fraction of its former self and has no influence. The old members are now on the run or attempting to merge into society, while their old leader has been dead since 1980. However, there are cracks appearing. International condemnation for the Dark Lord’s government is rising with tensions looming over a confrontation with France. War seems almost on the horizon and, the once abandoned Order, view it now as their opportunity to fight again against an enemy it has been unable to fight effectively for decades.
