1979 is winding toward its own close. Conflicts between the Order of the Phoenix and the Death Eaters continue as Dark Lord continues pressing for dominion of the Wizarding world, and the Ministry will not stand for it. With the rise of a new administration five years ago, Britain has seen the situation grow more and more tense as all three sides raise the stakes one after another.

Laws prohibit travel without Ministry approval, and increasingly, democracy seems to be giving way to a police state. Muggleborns and their advocates disappear in the night as terrorists spill innocent blood in the streets. Pureblood manors are burned and ransacked as an organization for peace lashes out to fight fire with fire. Chaos ensues.

The loudest question on everyone's minds and lips is the simplest: who will win?

No one is certain, and no one is certain what will be left for those winners when the smoke clears.

[info]lockdown is a Marauder-Era AU roleplaying game, taking the world of Harry Potter and exploring the theme of an extended civil war and its effect on the populace. The themes of freedom, safety, peace and conflict, the opposing forces of light and dark, and the idea of what measures are called for in times of war will all be questioned, examined, and turned on their head. In the end, the work of the characters involved and the ends to which they are willing to go, are the only things that will decide Britain's ultimate fate.

Salazar Slytherin wasn't the only person to leave his secrets embedded in the very structure of Hogwarts itself.

But he was one of the most determined. And after another of his dangerous secrets was used against muggleborn with devastating effect, public opinion turned against Slytherin -- not just the man, but the Hogwarts house.

Three years and a lot of negotiating later, the four new houses of Hogwarts are about to be introduced for the optional summer term of 2021. But Hogwarts isn't just a mundane building that doesn't care what happens within it. And Salazar Slytherin wasn't the only person to leave his secrets embedded in the very structure of Hogwarts itself.

From the quarrels of the Founders to the enhancements of the Victorian Age to the magic added after the most recent Battle of Hogwarts, Hogwarts embodies the magic of the ages, secret lore and forgotten history. And what the reformers didn't realize in their zeal is that a great deal of that magic ties into the four traditional Hogwarts houses.

And what happens to Hogwarts when those four houses are replaced?

Bewitching: A Harry Potter Next-Gen Game

The second wizarding war ended nearly twenty-five years ago. It is currently 2022, and the children of the next generation are preparing to start their next year of school. Peace is the only thing they've ever known, so their days are simply filled with concerns of balancing grades, relationships, clubs, and Quidditch.

Perhaps, however, the peace has gone on too long. Instead of remembering what their parents fought valiantly to save, the students are starting to bicker amongst themselves. Snide comments are being made, blood status is being brought up in the halls, and bullies are emerging to divide the school into four not-so-equal parts.

Headmaster Fardust has no desire to watch the past repeat itself. This year, students will be receiving a letter enclosed with their supply lists detailing the House Unity Project. Six students from each House will form a committee, headed by the Headmaster himself, to plan and execute events, games, and formal dances in an effort to promote House unity.

Twenty-five years after the fateful Tournament, the political atmosphere in Britain and Europe had changed drastically. The threat of the Dark wizard known as Lord Voldemort had disappeared, and in the years following the triumph, governments arose that were much more focused on cooperation and tolerance among wizards and witches at home and internationally. In 2019, a contingent of people led by Second Wizarding War hero Harry Potter and Bulgarian Quidditch superstar Viktor Krum formed, eager to encourage the next generation to focus on others' similarities rather than their differences. Both leaders spoke eloquently of the lasting friendships they had made and the valuable lessons they had learned during the 1994 Triwizard Tournament. They advocated a replacement event for the student population.

With the assistance of the International Association of Quidditch, three years later, the inaugural Junior International Quidditch Tournament is set to begin. Four Quidditch teams representing their schools will compete against each other in a series of matches throughout the academic year, with two finals at the end of the year to determine the overall winner. And alongside all the Quidditch fever that is sure to grip the castle, the typical difficulties of an academic year at Hogwarts must still be traversed: exams, friendships, romance, and antics. Can they handle the pressure?

Feinted is a canon-compliant next-gen role-playing game set at Hogwarts during the school year 2022–2023. Opens 19 August.
