1979. The situation is precarious and the battle is just beginning. Who will make it to the turn of the century, and who will be lost along the way? On one side, Voldemort and his Death Eaters are infiltrating the Ministry of Magic on all sides, working up intelligence and support. On the other side, Albus Dumbledore and the underground group of freedom fighters, the Order of the Phoenix, work discreetly and under a strict code of honor. Harry Potter didn't think he'd be boarding the Hogwarts Express for his final year, but the events of summer 97 made it all possible. The trio, with the aid of the Order, managed to find and destroy each horcrux. It had been the most difficult three months of their lives, but the Wizarding World was safe once again. Safe does not mean peaceful, however. Some argue over the imprisonment of Death Eaters. Others cannot believe Voldemort is dead. And still others are boastful over the Light's win. The Ministry is rebuilding itself, but at a price since the people of the wizarding world are distrustful toward those in charge. Meanwhile, Hogwarts is not the place all once knew. Minerva McGonagall is headmistress while Severus Snape, his name cleared, has taken over potions and Slytherin Head once again. Snape's old nemesis, Remus Lupin, has returned as DADA professor and Gryffindor Head. Yet, no one can forget the attack on the school. The Malfoys, saved by Narcissa's lie for Harry, have regained their fortune, but are relative outcasts now that most of their partners, friends, and acquaintances are either imprisoned or deceased. The world is learning to operate as one, but old loyalties and beliefs die hard. Who will embrace a life where all blood is good? Who will attempt to fight the changing tide and uphold the values of old? Only time will tell, but no one expects a bump free road either inside or outside of Hogwarts. Severus Snape hated the Marauders since first year. Names and hexes flew on both sides with some actions crueler than others. Throw in competition for a certain spunky red-headed muggle-born and all bets were off. Lily Evans had been shocked at the language her best mate used against her. Pride wouldn't allow her to show hurt so she snapped at him before rushing back to the dorm to cry her eyes out in privacy. She thought she'd never forgive Severus Snape. He sat outside Gryffindor until she relented in seeing him. She refused to accept his apology. He couldn't have both her and the likes of Mulciber. Severus gave up and the pair separated for a long, miserable summer. That summer finally came to an end and the Hogwarts Express raced toward Hogwarts. Pride be damned, Severus again attempted to reconcile with Lily. This time? She accepted -- but with a price. Severus needs to try and steer clear of the Dark Arts he loves so much. Will he succeed? Will Lily still fall in love with James despite it all? Will James try to mature for Lily's sake or be pushed into even more jerky stunts? The story of how the UK was taken over is one passed down from person to person in the shadows, carried by a whisper and a hollow gasp. No one can understand how finally, the noble Harry Potter could have won, and then lost so quickly. A room full of people got to see the last of Voldemort, and no longer are scared to utter his name, even if most do so quietly. Now theirs is a word much more horrifying. The Mortvi are a ruthless lot, Death Eaters renaming themselves after the fall of Voldemort. They used to be his closest of slaves, rather then minions. Many scorned and angry they disappeared into the darkness after their master's fall. Nobody knows how they could return and sweep the ministry building in one night, and foil the Order in another. Not even the Order can figure out how it happened. There is no Prophecy to hold them back, and only a new world order of terror to set them forward. Who's going to stop them? The United Kingdom is in peril. Lawbreakers go unpunished, Aurors and defense go without deploy as they are sent to other places during times the government itself is breaking laws. The Queen herself, as an unseeing Muggle is second to the rulers of the new Wizarding World. They blind the fools who chooose to believe with the thin sheet that they make the UK a better place. The Lestranges are the Ministers for Magic, each of them, without The Dark Lord to hold them back on their escapades, the British island and it's people are pawns to their tests of society. It is almost as if they're free to kill and terrorize at their own will, being so bold as to not hide their own crimes. They have even fooled the new generation of wizards into doing their bidding as they once did the bidding of the Dark Lord. Umbra Populus, the young brigade to the Mortvi. Voldemort? Dead. War? Over. Repercussions? Are seemingly endless. Welcome to the Wizarding World circa 2001. It's still a messy system of secrecy and dogmatic tradition - and whilst prejudices against Muggleborns and Half Bloods are no longer tolerated, British Wizarding Society was not magically improved overnight. Choked by the subliminal takeover and downfall of what were once perceived as its strongest institutions, the new Ministry, helmed by Kingsley Shacklebolt, are undertaking a new mission to resurrect, renew and revolutionise with Big Dreams and Ideals. Amongst others, there are two main issues here:
