Seeing potential in the boy after having murdered his parents Voldemort staged Harry Potters death and ran with the boy. Wanting to see if the boy had the potential to be his protege` Voldemort gave him to his most faithful followers: Rodolphus and Bellatrix Lestrange with the orders that they were to raise the boy as their own, just as they would any other child if they had any. He was to be raised as a pureblood and a dark wizard. Not wanting to disappoint their Lord the Lestrange's took the boy in without a second thought and set about changing him and shaping him as their lord saw fit.
After finding the house destroyed, and the Potters dead, including Harry the Order became distraught, wondering what would happen now in the case of the prophecy. The child it spoke of was now dead. Their hope they clung to so tightly now gone.
Using the Orders grief to his advantage Voldemort began to slowly take over the Ministry, implanting his most faithful followers into the Ministry with orders that they were to begin making way for him to take over. In May of 1983 he did just that. Quietly in the middle of the night Voldemort murdered the current Minister of Magic and declared himself the new one, naming Rodolphus Lestrange as his second in command. The world was never the same again.
Fast forward to 1991. Now elven years old Harry Potter and the other children of his generation are ready to start Hogwarts. But will things go as smoothly as Voldemort hopes? Will the Order realize that their hero is not dead but walking around the disguise of a Lestrange? And will Harry be the protege he's been trained and brought up to be or will a new environment change everything....
Change is inevitable. What will you do with it when it happens?

| Welcome to The Retreat, a rehabilitation center specializing in Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome for war victims. It is funded by Saint Mungo's hospital and set within the beautiful woodlands of the Kamchatka Peninsula. We proudly boast a well trained staff of nurses and doctors specializing in psychological counseling while, at the same time, providing a healthy and nurturing sense of community and family. What our pretty brochure won't tell you, however, is that our head doctor is a bit of a bored masochist with a god-complex, magic within The Retreat has been nearly nullified, the grounds are charmed to heighten emotional responses, and there's hidden cameras set up everywhere, even behind the two-way mirrors. So won't you join us in our pseudo-quest for mental wellness in a post-war world, where even though the Dark Lord is dead, the victims of the second war can't escape the fact that they'll always be someone else's pawn and plaything. |

It's been a year since the Final Battle, and the Wizarding World is slowly rebuilding. During that time Kingsley Shacklebolt has stepped up as Minister and quickly put to rights most of what the Death Eater regime wronged. Muggleborns are slowly filtering back into society, though fear of the same thing happening again is high.
Trials have been held and Death Eaters sentenced to Azkaban. While Azkaban is no longer guarded by Dementors, the prison is as cold and forbidding as ever. However, some Death Eaters have escaped and although they haven't made any overt moves since Shacklebolt and the Order came to power, neither has the overwhelming aura of fear abated much. Some Death Eaters escaped by turning in their associates; for others there was little evidence. Still others went on the run and are hiding from the Aurors and the Wizengamot.
There are whispers of an isolated group of Death Eaters still bent on seeing the rise of Purebloods and the annihilation of Muggles and Muggleborn alike, but no trace of this group has been seen. But their presence is felt, and it's only a matter of time before they strike.
But for Harry Potter and his friends, their lives are just beginning. Most of Harry's year chose to continue on for an 8th year at Hogwarts, under the Specialized NEWT Program. Having successfully completed that, they took their NEWTs in May of 1999, along with students in Ginny's year, and spent the summer (or longer) job hunting. With Auror and Healer Training to start in October, Quidditch to begin again after a year-long hiatus and new shops opening all the time in Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley no one wants to think about a third war.
But it's coming, and this time the aftermath will be epic. Is the Wizarding World ready for a Third War? It's time to find out in The Aftermath.
