I would like to announce a week-long friending frienzy in [info]friend_me for those who like Bottom Harry. It begins Friday, March 21st and lasts a whole week long! (All friending memes are open all the time!)

Actually...Memes in [info]friend_me never really expire. That is, they really aren't supposed to have a set ending date. It wasn't in the info (though it is now), but I assumed it was implied with the rule "2. Check the tags (or memories) before posting a meme. If the meme you want to start already has a tag, go browse the comments on that entry and find your friends that way" (bold added to emphasize the pertinent part). Thought you should know...

I'm sorry if that sounded rude...I tried to find a way to put it without being patronizing or bitchy, but I'm not really sure I succeeded, so here's a preemptive apology.

I was going by how the friending meme's develop in actuality.

There is a flurry of activity the day one and it's tapering down the second day. And people who arrive "late to the party" (or so they think :) even post "I am late but here it is" bit in their meme.

I wanted everyone to be sure that it's not "late" at least for a whole week. Especially that we don't have too many bottom Harry people (have you seen the poll results? Ouch!) I didn't actually mean that the meme will be closed after a week, just that it will be very active for that long.

My apologies for any misunderstanding :)

Yeah, it is true that memes seem to fizzle a bit after a week or so. I'm working on a way to fix that within [info]friend_me--can't do anything about it in any other asylums (or at least improve the realistic shelf-life of a meme...).

I initially saw the bit about it being a week advertised in [info]dailysnitch in this post. It, to me, implies that it's only for a week. And, I thought if others could get that impression (of course, [info]dailysnitch also advertised [info]friend_me as a Ginny Weasley friending place because that was the first meme posted...), then maybe that was what you meant.

I think the misunderstanding went both ways, so no fault to either of us. :)

Also, I'd vote in the poll, but I don't ship H/D (H/G, D/G, and H/G/D, yes; H/D, no).

DS cuts the submissions to a few words :) They didn't even include [info]friend_me even though I submitted the asylum name too. I think it's the double-linking rule or something (they only post one link to the same place). Anyhow, I only meant that the "frienzy" is week long, not the meme.

Although, the perceived meme shelf-life is a good issue to address. Because friending meme's never expire. The same goes for my polls: Always Open All The Time. I might, in fact, promote them this way now :D You've given me a good idea here.
