Halloween Gift for Cordeliadelayne

Gift for: [info]cordeliadelayne

From: [info]karasu_hime

Title: The Excorcists
Pairing: Snape/Lupin
Rating: G
Summary: Two men and a haunted house
Notes: Happy Halloween, Cordelia! I hope you enjoy it! Thank you, Lore for the beta and all your help!

The wood was torn, worm-ridden and infested with termites. Black, unnameable creatures scurried along the bark. The house was in a state of decline on the inside as well, wall-paper grey and falling in strips, the rips looking like teardrops cascading down to bare rugs.

Insane whispers, eerie moans and bloodcurdling screams could be heard from behind the curtained portraits of former occupants. Perhaps the windows were the house's worst feature: dusty and murky, casting a twisted view on the world outside.

Snape stood in the middle of the house, eyes closed, waiting for the atmosphere to finish shifting. Hair on his nape prickling, Snape quirked a smile. This was old-hat to him. He enjoyed the challenge, even though it didn’t show the surface.

Remus started unpacking the equipment they needed to begin their operation. He often requested to work with Snape on assignements such as these; it wasn’t often one is allowed to watch the Postions Master really enjoy himself.

Chuckling quietly, Remus shook his head and re-focused on Snape. It wouldn’t do to be caught unawares; sometimes these haunted houses could sense Snape’s cleansing power and fight back. Remus knew it was what thrilled Snape the most, being in combat without worry of harming another living being.

Oh, I can totally envision him dressed as the priest from the movie standing as he looks up at the house. Nice!

Oh, you paint as deliciously with words as you do with colours: I love the two first paragraphs. Well, the rest too. :)

And I can certainly imagine Snape after the war, wanting the excitement, but not the harm.
