Charlie's wide fingers were better suited for wrangling dragon chains than changing bandages, but Neville was in no position to complain. He reclined in the infirmary cot and tried to relax. He hadn't felt this weak since his first year at Hogwarts.
"Should've warned you about tourist season," Charlie said as he roughly taped thick layers of gauze at Neville's throat.
"Tourists?"
"Vampires. They swarm Romania this time of year - you know, Transylvania, Dracula, Halloween- all pissing themselves for a glimpse of their hero, wandering around here in the mountains looking for his castle," Charlie smacked a kiss on Neville's jaw as he completed his work. "'In Search of the Dark Master' tours, that sort of shite."
"I was...?"
"Bitten? Yeah."
Neville met Charlie's blue eyes and choked out his next words, the punctures in his neck throbbing. "I'm...one of them now?"
Charlie grinned. "Nah. I knocked the bloke off you before he could do much damage. Luckily for you my unspeakable desires made me follow you out today. I was a bloody hero." He let out a snort. "No pun intended."
Neville was slow to process Charlie's last comments. "Your...unspeakable desires?" he murmured with a stir of interest.
"Just get better quickly, Longbottom."
