10.7.00
WHO: Open to All
WHAT: Canceled Quidditch
WHEN: 10.7.00 - Afternoon
WHERE: Hogsmeade
STATUS: In-Progress
RATING: R
TAGGED?: Yar
F-LOCKED?: Not yet

Clint was annoyed. He'd woken up early to check the pitch for the Hufflepuff versus Slytherin match to find bloody flobber-worms everywhere. They'd infested the field overnight as some student thought it'd be hilarious to dump the stock and spread lettuce everywhere. They'd destroyed the field and the match was canceled. There wasn't a way to get the field in repair and it seemed everyone headed to Hogsmeade to enjoy the sunny afternoon. Clint sat out and stared over the field. He missed Quidditch. Missed playing it. Missed feeling the wind on his face and even the cold rain.

There wasn't anything like the feel of perfectly timed play that led to that perfect goal. The air was crisp and the weather fair. He could hear the students and teachers walking to Hogsmeade but was content to sit here, alone. There hadn't been news in ages from his publicist. Falmouth seemed to have abandoned him. Leaning back, he looked at the cloudless sky. A perfect day for a game. He was a fantastic athlete and he'd been fucking reduced to this. He should be playing. Should be out there with his teammates and enjoying the promise of a win. He should be on the list for the English national team. This was supposed to be his year.

"And I fucked it up," he muttered, standing up. "Fucked it up because I fucked the wrong bird."

Disgusted with himself, he headed down the stairs and off the pitch. The gate was a short walk and unable to bear the chatter of students, he apparated quickly to the center of town. The Three Broomsticks seemed to be the best choice as they closed it off to students. "Thank God," he muttered, pushing the doors open.

Nothing like a pint for what ails you.

Oliver had closed up his shop for the day, ready to head to the pitch to see the match. There was something unique about a school matches that the professional clubs didn't have. He was waiting inside the Three Broomsticks, getting a snack to go in case the match went long, though not expected with Slytherin against Hufflepuff.

He was just about to head out the door when the rumors spread like fire. "It's canceled?" He could already sense the change in the energy in the pub. Hogsmeade would soon be full of teachers and students looking to entertain themselves. And without a match, they'll fill my shop and whinge about it.

Wood knew he needed to get back. He didn't want to miss a sale or for his potential shoppers to break down the door. Hurrying to the exit, he nearly ran into Clint Warrington, bumping his shoulder roughly. If it would have been anyone else he would have apologised and moved on. To Oliver, this wasn't anyone else. "What happened to the pitch, Warrington?" Oliver didn't try to hide the accusation in his tone.

"Bloody fuck," he muttered, rolling his eyes towards the heavens. He continued to walk, ignoring Wood for the most part. "Wasn't me," he called over his shoulder. "Student prank." He stopped and turned around slowly. "Reeks of Gryffindor."

He nodded towards the bar. "Drink?" he asked, feeling mildly charitable ant not particularly in the mood to be alone.

Not quite what sure to drink he stared at the wall for a moment. How could Wood bloody give up Quidditch. What did he get out of this shit life? He was a shoe-in for the English national team. He could've led the bloody team to victory. But no, he was here. In Hogsmeade, shagging Bell and fucking around as a shopkeep.

"Why'd you leave, Wood?" he asked. "Why'd you give it up? You. Of all people." He looked over at him. "Just don't understand, mate."

Oliver drew in a deep sigh. He wanted to believe it was something Warrington was responsible for. He wanted the opportunity to lash out and be irrational but the truth of the matter was that it likely was a student prank. As Captain, he'd turned his back enough times when Fred and George were at their most creative. "You would say that when Slytherin was going to lose anyway."

The offer surprised him but she shrugged. He could spare a couple more minutes. "You're buying." It wasn't a question.

In the awkward silence he racked his brain for some topic that wouldn't bring them to each draw their wands. The subject Warrington picked wasn't going to be it. Oliver shook his head. "I don't see what it matters to everyone. It's my business, my life. Everyone acts like they had some stake in it. Like their bleeding happiness was dependent on if I played Quidditch or not." His exasperation was obvious.

If anyone would understand, it might be Warrington. "Think about what you got suspended for. Not that what I'm saying you did is right, but did it have anything to do with your abilities as a player?" Wood went on and answered for him, not even really needing Clint there for this argument. "No, it was about politics and perception and the almighty galleon. How long has it been since it was about the actual sport? Not about getting the stands filled or pictures in the Weekly?

Clint snorted and ordered a round of firewhisky for him and Wood. "Open a tab," he said. Sitting on a stool, he glanced over at the door, wondering if Penny would be coming in. He saw Bell and Spinnet walk in and turned back around.

Wood was right and that irked him more than anything. There was truth to what he said. It wasn't about the game anymore but he'd enjoyed many of the perks that came along with being a great athlete and a top player. He had liked the woman fawning over him, enjoyed being on the cover of magazines and having witches lust after him. He recognized that it was part of the game. Of course, he grew in a family where a person wasn't worthwhile unless they provided something, unless they were a commodity.

Nodding, he shrugged. "Nothing's like that anymore. It's all image. No matter what you do. You, me, Spinnet...we're here for on reason and one reason alone and that was to make the sell." Glancing at his...whatever Wood was, he sighed. "You're a bloody brilliant Keeper. Easily could've captained the national team."

He threw back his drink. "People are mad because of your talent. No one likes to see talent wasted. Even if you are a git."

Oliver climbed onto the stool, hooking his legs around the rungs as he accepted the glass of firewhiskey put in front of him. It had been too long since he'd been out, cutting loose with friends. Like we all used to after a good match. He sighed and looked away, not wanting Warrington to catch a whiff of his melancholy. It didn't help that his gaze went directly to Alicia and Katie. Bloody fucking hell. If this isn't going to be uncomfortable.

He agreed but disagreed, shaking his head emphatically after finishing his drink in one swallow. "And I'm not something that's going to be sold. I'm not there to make them money." Oliver heard the compliment and it cut deep. Warrington was right. He could have Captained national. That was more the true essence of the sport, not all the publicity and product advertisements. Wood shrugged but it still hurt.

Oliver snorted. "I'm a git?" He looked at Warrington and chuckled. "Who were you shagging? The owner's wife? The trainer's daughter? All of them? Tell me that wasn't a waste, to get you ostracized here to teach ickle kiddies how to ride brooms. Aren't you better than that?"

Clint ignored his wistful gaze and glanced in the same direction. Bell and Spinnet were looking chummy. He grinned. "Well, what it must be like to date friends..." He shook his head. Clint was fairly depraved but he'd never really shagged two best friends and expected. Well, not separately at least.

"Tell yourself what you want mate," he said, shrugging. "I still think you'd have taken England to the finals. Money's just part of the business. Besides, your shoppe, it's pushing Quidditch items which, in essence will make money for the teams." He glanced over at Wood. "It's what we do. We may not like it but it's the price you pay to do something you love."

Clint just grinned at Oliver's response. "Owner's daughter. Sadly, it wasn't worth it in the end. Bint wasn't even that good." He hated that Wood was right but he was. "No one expects me to be better than that. I'm just a pretty face who can play a bit of Quidditch. I know what sells." He couldn't help but feel they'd bring him back. A losing streak was a losing streak and when you suspended your captain... "Think you'll ever go back?"

Oliver shook his head and grimaced. Seeing Alicia and Katie together, and companionable, was alarming. "We're not even going to discuss that. I can't deal with the idea that Spinnet's back yet."

He shook his head and pushed his empty glass toward the bar keep. "That could have been but we'll never know now." God this conversation is depressing. Wood turned to Warrington and raised his brow. "So I'm a hypocrite, obviously." He sighed heavily.

Wood rolled his eyes. "It was the owner's daughter this time. Who will it be next? It's not like this little time-out is going to change you, right? Like you just said, no one expects you to be better." Oliver shook his head. "I can't see that happening. Too much has changed. Even in the short time I've been gone."

"Well," he said, laughing at Wood's obvious discomfort over his ex and current girlfriend. "They haven't killed one another yet. One of 'em is bound to swing. My bet's on Spinnet but Bell seems like she might have some fight in her." He shrugged. "Who knows," he said, leering at the two women who had just been joined by George Weasley. "Maybe you can get them together."

He was sure the comment would piss off Wood but, it would be worth it. Glancing over at his...whatever Wood was today, he said, "You should've waited til after the World Cup." Snorting, he took a drink. "Though, they'd probably offer you anything you wanted just to get you back."

Wood was right. Who would be next? What if he couldn't change? He wanted too. A certain witch had him head over heels but he wasn't sure he could even make a commitment without disappointing her. Was too easy to slip back into old habits. "Birds are nothing but trouble," he grumbled. "Pain in the neck, the lot of them."

Oliver snorted. "I'm not really concerned about them killing each other. It's more likely going to be me they're aiming for." He shook his head and glanced over again, watching Alicia throw back her first shot. "My money's on Alicia too. She's already took a swing at Katie. 'Course Katie might be wanting some payback about now."

Returning the harassment, Oliver smiled smugly. "And you should know better than to get caught with your dick where it doesn't belong." He went on. "How's that working out for you lately?" Warrington was right, he'd received the sealed envelopes and just sent them back. Oliver was fully aware what was inside and what the cost was to open them.

Once his drink was finally refilled, Oliver finished that one just as quickly, reminding himself he didn't drink like this, especially not with all the shite going on lately. "Tell me about it." He actually clapped Warrington on the shoulder. "But then you can tolerate a lot when you're getting shagged."

He shrugged. "Is that so," he said, throwing his head back and laughing. "Spinnet hit Bell? I'd have paid galleons to see that." He glanced over at Bell, she was laughing. "I dunno, Bell's a bit taller. Course, she hexed the holy hell out of me in school." He shuddered. "What're you gonna do about them?" He didn't know Spinne that well but she didn't seem the type to give up. "Spinnet still lusting after you?"

Again, Wood was right. "Well, you know. A good shag and all that. Course, I should've not done it in the owner's office desk." He shrugged. "Can't do a thing about it now." Glancing over at Wood, her wondered if he should spill about Clearwater. "I'd say my current pick is working out very well."

He raised his glass in toast. "To good shags and sexy women. Life really would be boring without them."

Alicia's search for a flat near Hogsmeade wasn't going well. Of course, that was possibly because she wasn't even sure where to begin asking about vacancies. In addition, after the whole Oliver/Katie incident, Alicia was starting to think that moving into the area might not be the best idea she had ever had. It wasn't even in the top 10.

She began to wander slowly through Hogsmeade, happy that the place didn't seem to be especially full of people, when Honeyduke's caught her attention. She had always loved that place. Sugar rushes were almost as good as getting drunk. The only thing better was having a sugar rush WHILE drinking. And with that thought, her evening plans were decided on. She'd stock up on a ridiculous amount of sweets to be devoured during her heavy drinking that would follow later in the evening.

As she browsed the store, trying to decide what to go for first, a loud group of children entered the store, breaking her concentration. Behind them was another even louder group followed by even more groups of obnoxious kids. Children drove Alicia bloody mad. She quickly exited the shop, doing her best to avoid touching any of the brats. She took a deep breath of fresh air once outside but nearly choked on it when she realized that it wasn't just Honeydukes that was infested. All of Hogsmeade was full of students. "Fuck," she said under her breath. It was definitely time to leave.

Katie was disappointed the match was canceled and found herself on her way to Hogsmeade. She, evidently, wasn't the only one who had the idea. It seemed as though most of the school had let out and everyone was Hogsmeade-bound. She smiled at a couple of students and waved at a few of her co-workers.

Thinking she might head to the Three Broomsticks, Katie glanced towards her favorite spot but caught sight of someone else just ahead. She still hadn't met with Alicia and wondered if now would be a good time. Her friend looked rather frustrated, actually.

"Alicia," she called, hurrying over. She literally had to push her way through the crowds and heard multiple students groaning over the No Students rule that Rosmerta seemed to have taken up.

Finally making it through the crowd, she gave her friend a small smile. "Quite a rush. Isn't it?" she asked, looking around. "How are you?"

Alicia looked up at Katie, slightly surprised to see her there. Alicia had spent so long not running into people she knew, that it was taking a while to adjust to being near where friends were again. "Rush? It's bloody mass chaos!" she said looking around at all the students. So maybe Alicia was being a little dramatic....but kids. They sucked. And she had really just wanted to get something to eat or drink in peace.

As students continued to walk by, she could hear them talking about a cancelled quidditch match. So that's where they had all come from. "Why was quidditch cancelled?" Alicia asked Katie, sure that her friend would be in the know. After all, it always seemed that their Professors had had a special ability of being in the know on all happenings. Now that Katie was a Professor, surely she had that same freakish ability.

Katie smiled at her friend and looked around. Well, chaos was a bit dramatic, but that was Alicia for you. Wrapping herself in her sweater she looked at Honeydukes. It was quite packed. "We could head over to the Three Broomsticks if you'd like. No students." She thought her friend might prefer that to being hounded by kids. It wouldn't be long til someone recognized her and she might hex them...

"Come on," she said, nudging her towards the pub. "I believe a student decided to take a vat of flobberworms and dump them on the field. Apparently, they tried spelling out Slythern Sucks but the flobberworms weren't feeling up to staying in one place."

Katie smiled. It had to be a Gryffindor and they were going to be in loads of trouble if found out. "Should've used the lettuce to spell the words out..."

Alicia walked alongside Katie towards the Three Broomsticks. No students sounded absolutely amazing. As Katie told the story of what had happened to the field, Alicia couldn't hold in a laugh. "Brilliant!" she said, very much enjoying the picture the story created. Other than quidditch, house rivalries had been her favorite part of Hogwarts. It was always interesting to see what each house would try to do to prank the others. Of course, she had always associated pranks with the twins. They had been masters at it! She took a moment to wonder what George had been up to. She hadn't really kept tabs on him like she did with some of the others. Whenever she thought of him, she couldn't help but get incredibly sad.

As they continued to walk, Alicia started looking through the students. She couldn't believe it hadn't occurred to her that her brother might be in Hogsmeade. She hadn't seen him in years and it would make sense that he'd be there. To fifth yeas, Hogsmeade was practically the coolest place you could go during the school year. None of the kids she walked by, however, seemed at all familiar. At least it was worth a shot. "Oi, how's your face?" Alicia asked, looking up at Katie as they reached the entrance to the Three Broomsticks. She opened the door for her friend, allowing her to walk in first.

Katie couldn't help but grin and nod. "It was rather ingenious but not quite up there with Fred and George." Smiling she waved to another student and went into the pub. "My face is alright even if it is a little tender." She touched her still swollen cheek. "The bruising is quite lovely but I'm not going to give you the satisfaction of taking a look at it."

Heading towards the bar, she caught site of Warrington and Oliver in what looked like a heated debate. "I suppose we should steer clear of that," she muttered, heading towards an empty table in the back. Making herself comfortable, she waved towards the barmaid and leaned back, listening to the idle chatter surrounding her.

Sometimes she wondered why she didn't feel strange in here. This is where it had all happened. Where she'd been taken over, corrupted and then cursed. Shrugging off the dark thought, she turned back to her friend. "I'm quite glad you're here. Plan on sticking around?"

Alicia stopped in her tracks for a moment upon seeing Wood and Warrington. Warrington she didn't give a shite about, but Oliver on the hand....Alicia's first instinct was to grab the glass on the empty table next to her and throw it at his head. But this time wasn't supposed to be Oliver/Alicia!fight time. This was a good time to try to patch things up with Katie. Or at least, be civil with her. She finished following back to the table she had picked and took a seat across from her

Was Katie really glad Alicia was there? Or was she just trying to say what friends were supposed to say in these situations. "Really?" she asked, shocked if Katie was actually glad. "Well, erm....I had been thinking about it? But I don't know....Shite's fucking crazy, you know?" she asked, still on the fence about moving.

If she was going to have violent urges nearly every time she went out, this probably wasn't the best place for her. It was so much easier to just live in a small town in Wales where she didn't know anyone. If she wanted to have contact with people, she could just get a hold of teammates and meet up with them. But if she wanted a quiet day in town without bumping into someone she knew, she could have that as well. If she took a place near Hogsmeade, seeing old schoolmates would practically be unavoidable.

Alicia's pause was noticeable and Katie wondered if she really did have feelings for Oliver. She imagined there'd be a lot of passion between them. Sighing softly, she hoped, truthfully, that they'd get through this. She really did want Alicia around. She missed her friend.

Surprised, Katie looked at her friend. "Of course I am," she said, sincerely. Confused, she shook her head. "I don't understand. Why wouldn't I be? You are, or, were one of my closest friends." Leaning back, Katie quickly ordered a butterbeer and stared at Alicia.

"What's so crazy that makes you think I wouldn't want you here?" she asked, genuinely confused. "It'd be quite brilliant, you know. Angelina is here as well...and, well, I know things have changed a lot but we were all such good friends once..."

Alicia ordered a firewhiskey from the barmaid. It was never too early to start drinking. So Katie really was happy? Weird. "I cause problems," she said with a shrug. Who would want someone around that just made their life more difficult? "You were there the other morning. Saw firsthand. I didn't even mean to start shite up then. That was me trying to be nice on a good day," she said with a laugh.

Alicia wasn't sure what to respond when Katie brought up Angelina. She had heard about her accident of course. Who hadn't? It broke Alicia's heart to know what had happened to her. But Alicia had had even less contact with Angelina than she had with Katie. Who knew how she was handling life these days? Everyone seemed to be so different and Alicia wasn't sure there was a really a place for her anymore.

"How've you been, Katie? I mean, generally. How's life? And.....things?" she hoped her friend was happy. That school was good and everything with Oliver was good. At least one of them deserved happiness. Alicia felt guilty that it had taken her this long to even ask.

Katie glanced towards Oliver, a frown tugging at her lips. How were things? She wasn't sure how to answer that. "It's different," she whispered. She glanced back at Alicia and forced a smile. "Everything has changed but, it's getting better. "Of course, things aren't supposed to stay the same? Right? But, it's different."

Taking a sip of her drink she wondered what it was that made her feel sad all of a sudden. "Every picture things one way and they turn out completely different?" She shook her head. "I sometimes still feel like that same first year who was terrified of the sorting." Giving her friend a small shrug, she leaned back. "I really am sorry about Oliver," she started... "I mean, if it bothers you and hurts you too much..." she let out a sad sigh. "I'll stop."

Biting her lip, she felt nervous. "It really did just sort of happened..."

Alicia raised an eyebrow as Katie spoke. She didn't sound happy at all. "So how'd you picture things then?" she asked, curious. Honestly, the only "future" that Alicia had ever seen was playing Quidditch. And that's exactly what she was doing. Everything else was just nasty little filler. It made her sad to know that Katie wasn't where she thought she'd be.

Alicia was a bit shocked when Katie offered to stop seeing Oliver. She would really do that? "Yeah, all right. You should stop seeing him," she said, tone completely serious as she took a sip of her drink. After a moment though, she couldn't help but smile. "You can see whoever bloody well makes you happy, Bell! Don't let people try to make decisions for you!" Honestly, as much as it sucked seeing Katie with Oliver, she was just going to have to get over it. Alicia had had her chance with him and she'd blown it. Why would she make Katie pay for that? Alicia wasn't that much of a bitch. "Are you happy with him? That's all I care about," she said with a small smile. Well, that wasn't all, but she wasn't going to continue to make her friend feel guilty about following her heart.

Propping her head on her hand she let out a small sigh. "I'm not sure," she said. "I mean, I guess I never really thought about it? Well, that's not true. I always thought I'd play Quidditch or at least work for a team. But, things change my last year...I changed."

Looking up, she gave Alicia a smile. "I'm not unhappy or anything, actually, the past couple of weeks have been amazing...but, you know, that's mostly because of him."

Eyes widening, she nodded but when Alicia's smile broke over her face, she let out a sigh of relief. "He makes me happy," she murmured. "It's a bit scary isn't it? Letting someone have so much of you. Things are just better with him. Life seems brighter..." Blushing, she looked towards the bar. She was in love with him.

"You know I had a crush on him in school...never expected this though."

"You know, it surprises me that you're not doing anything with Quidditch. Angelina, I get. George, I understand. Wood....I don't get even a little bit. And you...I always thought you'd be playing still. Why aren't you?" Alicia asked honestly. It was weird to her that she was the only one of the Gryffindors that was playing professionally. Everyone had been put through hell at some point, but why let that stop you from living out your dreams?

As Katie began to go on about Wood, Alicia couldn't help but let her eyes glass over as she took a rather large drink. Just because she gave her blessing didn't mean that she wanted to hear about her friends' new found bliss with Alicia's ex. She held up a hand to stop Katie. "Bell, I love ya. And I'm super happy you're happy. But I don't think I'm quite to the acceptance point of being able to hear you gush over him. Sorry." Alicia only accepted Oliver and Katie because she was pretty well aware that she had no chance with him anymore. But with that acceptance did not come endless patience to hear about how what she lost completed her friends life, or some equally over-lovey sentiment.

Katie shook her head. "I'm not entirely sure I understand Wood either, to be honest." Nodding in agreement. "It's very odd. My reaction wasn't quite as...ahem...volatile. But, I was probably just as shocked." Frowning, Katie thought about the multitudes of reasons why she shouldn't play but, there was only one reason why she didn't. "I black out. After the curse...well, nothing was quite the same...inside. Headaches, nausea, moments of forgetfulness." She shrugged. "The blackouts can be the worse but it's getting better."

She grimaced. "Oh Merlin," she muttered. "I'm sorry. Wasn't thinking...not at tall. She glanced at her friend. "You know, us, you and me growing apart. Well, it was my fault...I let him come between us." Sadness seemed to come over her. "I shouldn't have let that happen."

"I just don't get it. He's bloody fucking stupid is what it is," she said regarding Oliver's leaving Quidditch. He had managed to completely avoid actually answering why the other morning and through her anger, she hadn't realized that until afterwards. Well, if he wanted to ruin his life and grow old with lots of regrets, it wasn't any of Alicia's business.

Upon hearing about Katie's problems with playing, Alicia's brow furrowed. "You should probably go get that checked out, yeah? I'm sure you could get some potion or some shite for that. Just got to keep trying!" It honestly baffled Alicia when people wanted to do things other than Quidditch. And to let something stop you from playing when you loved it was just incomprehensible to her. She took down the rest of her drink before signaling for another from the barmaid.

When Katie said their growing apart was her fault, Alicia had to hold in a laugh. "Aha! So it was you who kept me from writing owls!" Honestly, it was both of their faults. Katie could have tried to stay close and Alicia could have sent at least one owl. Oliver had nothing to do with it, at least from her side of it. She hadn't even realized Katie'd had an interest in him until the other morning. She'd always been too busy with her own fascination with him to notice that other people were looking as well.

Katie could kind of understand where Oliver was coming from but she still found it rather shocking. It was different for him now. She shrugged. "If he's happy doing this, then I suppose it's not a problem." She finished her butterbeer and waved for another. "I think he was just worn down. You know how he is. He wants to play. That's it. He's in it for the purity of the game and professional leagues...well, they're so much more than that nowadays." Oliver was too modest to be made into a commodity.

"My healers are aware of it," she shrugged. "Not much to be done, unfortunately. Though, it seems to be getting better. Haven't had an episode in ages." She met Alicia's eyes and smiled. "I'm quite happy with what I'm doing. I feel as though I have a purpose now. If that makes sense." Shaking her head, she thanked the barmaid. "I like teaching. Though, if you'd asked me, I never would've began to believe I'd be teaching Muggle Studies. Well, teaching at all really."

Biting her lip, she looked around the pub, wondering if George was still around. "I really am quite glad you're here. Nice to be able to talk to someone."

As soon as her second drink was delivered, Alicia nearly downed the whole thing. She heard once that you were supposed to drink a lot of water everyday to stay healthy. She secretly hoped that alcohol counted. If so, she had to have been the healthiest person around. "Oh, is that how those professional leagues are?" Alicia asked sarcastically. Honestly, it was like her playing professionally was some sort of big joke to her friends. "Hard to love the purity of the game if you're not even playing it."

"Good for you for liking your career. If I was stuck in the castle with those brats all day, I'd go fucking bonkers. Actually, I'm surprised Warrington over there hasn't done anything to the kids," she said, motioning towards Clint. From what she could remember, he wasn't exactly roses and sunshine all the time. He especially didn't strike Alicia as someone patient enough to work with kids. She was happy that Katie was enjoying it, though. Someone had to do it, after all. And Katie seemed nice and patient enough to be good at it. "How's it going with those Durmstrang fuckers? I heard you all got the lot of 'em after what happened?" Just because Alicia was never around, didn't mean she didn't keep up with what was happening.

And once again, Katie was expressing happiness at Alicia's return. She must have been really lonely or something to be that excited to have her back. "You don't have to keep saying that, you know. I know you're fucking thrilled I'm back. Life was practically meaningless without me, I'm sure," she said with a smile.

Katie watched her throw back another drink and raised a brow. She was drinking an awful lot. Or, at least it seemed that way. "Did you want to order some food or something?" she asked, carefully. "I think I'm going to have the cornbeef."

Shaking her head she looked at Alicia. "I didn't mean it as an insult to you. But, there's more to just playing. That's all he wants. He's doesn't want to be a huge star, a commodity. He just wants to play." She stared at Oliver, her lips in a slight frown. "I suppose it wasn't what he expected. He's quite modest and all. I can see how the limelight would get to him eventually."

Shrugging, she leaned back. "As for the Durmstrang students...they're alright. Course, I'm being harassed by a student or students but it's nothing. Just silly pranks. Makes me feel a tiny bit guilty about pranking my teachers with Fred and George." She grinned. "Life was not nearly as colorful without you Ali."

The sound of food was completely unappealing to Alicia. It usually was these days. "I think I'll pass, but I hope you enjoy what you order," she said as she finished off her drink. It has been a while since Alicia had had much of an appetite. And she still sort f had her heart set on some sweets once the students headed back to the castle.

"Still. You would think if you loved the game enough, you'd put up with the other shite," she said with a shrug. Not that she minded all of the extra stuff that came along with playing. She liked the attention and the free shite and the screaming fans. Not all of the time, of course, but for the most part it was actually pretty enjoyable.

"You're being harassed?!" Alicia nearly shouted as she sat up straight, clearly upset at the news. "Are you fucking kidding me?! What are they doing to you? Need me to put those bastards in their places?"

Katie loved food and if she didn't start exercising again, it'd begin to show. She ordered her sandwich and stared towards the bar, genuinely interested in what on earth Warrington and Clint could possibly be talking about. It was odd. She would not have expected to see those two chatting with one another. Of course, they had more in common then they thought.

"I suppose," she said, referring to loving the game. "But, if those things cause you to lose your love...than what?" She didn't really expect an answer but she was quite sure she'd get one.

Katie shrugged the harassment away. "It's nothing. Just some kids, being kids." Though, dead animals and the like weren't exactly funny. "It'll work itself out." She gave Alicia a reassuring smile, though, really, she wasn't sure if it was harmless at all.

She decided to change the subject as she waited for her food. "What places are you looking at? There's a couple of flats for let in the building next to Quality Quidditch Supplies. I think some across from Honeydukes as well."

Alicia couldn't help but turn to look at the bar when Katie stared in that direction. Warrington and Wood had been sitting next to each other civilly a little too long. It was unnerving. Of course, if they were to start fighting, Alicia wasn't sure which boys side she'd be on. As much as she disliked Warrington, it would be pretty fun to watch Oliver get his ass kicked for a bit.

She turned her attention back to Katie once she began talking again. "Wood hasn't lost his fucking love. He opened a bloody quidditch shop for fuck's sake! What's that stupid shite phrase? Everything worth having comes with trials worth withstanding or some shite. You're never going to be 100% happy with life. You have to put up with the shite to get the good," she responded, clearly impassioned about the topic. That, and she was still shocked that Oliver Wood had become such a pussy.

Alicia wasn't sure she believed Katie when she said the harassment wasn't a big deal. "Well, if that shite keeps up, you'd better tell me. There's a difference between a harmless prank and bloody fucking harassment." The Weasley Twins were prank masters. They had always known just how far to take it so that it was still amusing. Clearly, the current students weren't of the same jokester capacity.

Bringing up finding a place again, Alicia ran a hand through her hair, clearly stressed about the situation. "Honestly, I didn't even know who to talk to about it. I've just sort of been...wandering." A flat near Wood's store sounded fun. She had a feeling it would piss him off which meant endless hours of entertainment for Alicia. But so near Honeyduke's sounded like heaven. "Erm, I don't suppose you'd want to go look at a few with me sometime soon? I don't even bloody know what to look for." All Alicia knew was that she needed a bathroom and a place to throw a mattress on the floor. Other than that, she was awful at figuring out what she needed from a flat.

Katie shrugged and leaned back, propping her feet on the bench. "You know him a better than I do," she said, neutrally. "He's not said much on it and I haven't pushed him about it." Katie probably never would, either. She'd become much to accepting over the past few years. Her laissez-faire attitude aggravated her friends and her godmother wondered where her fighting spirit had gone.

Sighing, she took a sip of her drink. She still felt like she was fighting for something good, something better but she'd be the first to admit that she'd had the spirit beaten out of her. Idly wondering if she could ever be the girl who had a passionate outlook at everything, she took a bite of the sandwich that had been placed in front of her.

Katie still felt quite guilty about Alica and Oliver, especially since it seemed Alicia might still have feelings and she was sure Oliver probably felt something. "Well, I'd love to help." She eyed her friend warily. "Perhaps you should stay away Honeydukes...you'll eat the shoppe out of stock." Frowning, she quickly chewed her food. "Is something wrong with your current flat?"

Another drink appeared in front of Alicia, replacing the one she had finished. She loved it when it got to the point that she no longer actually had to order to get a refill. "I wouldn't say I know him better. I know he loves Quidditch. And that he's at least okay with constantly arguing and bickering. That's about it, really," she said with a shrug as she took a small sip. Of course, Alicia probably knew more than just that about Wood. But she didn't want to make her friend feel bad. Especially since it was Katie who was in the relationship with him, not Alicia.

Alicia smiled when Katie said she'd help her find a flat. "Oi! I'm not that bad about sweets!" she said laughing. Katie had a good point. Alicia was pretty bad. She could live off of their fudge for every meal if it was an option. And then have a various assortment of their other sweets for snacks. She would probably end up fat. And with bad teeth. Of course, the journey to that disgusting point would be fucking amazing.

"Is something wrong with your current flat?" "It's in Wales? And I don't like being so close to home. It makes me feel even more guilty for never visiting," she said, taking another drink. Since her dad's death right before the Battle, Alicia had had minimal contact with her mum and brother, save for the game tickets she had sent to them. They'd never understood her passion for quidditch and once her dad was gone, she had no one on her side to defend her career choice. It just didn't seem like a pleasant situation.

Katie just gave her friend a look. "Don't be ridiculous," she muttered. She wasn't some overly-sensitive bint. Well, maybe she was but still. "I'm not so naive to think that you don't, Alicia. You've had months. I've had maybe two weeks." Katie wasn't quite sure what brought that waspish comment on but she ignored it, hoping Alicia realized she didn't want to treat it like they'd never been together.

Though she was quite pleased to see so many smiles from Alicia, they were rather nice. It really was quite wonderful to have her friend around. If Katie were to live above Honeydukes, it's be quite a mess as well. But, Alicia was much worse.

Nodding, Katie could understand that. "Wales...well, it is Wales." She didn't hate Wales but she really did prefer the Scottish highlands or the city life of London. "Well, we'll find you something and if not, you can stay with Oliver." Her eyes twinkled. "I'm sure that'd be a perfect solution."

"Yeah, well, that was a long time ago. And months really aren't that long. Especially when you both play professionally and aren't always in town," Alicia said honestly. Oliver and Alicia had worked well together, but their timing had been absolutely terrible. Both were so preoccupied with their teams that their relationship had taken a backseat. Of course, Alicia felt a twinge of regret for not trying harder and letting it just...end. But it was too late to change it all now.

"I like Wales. It's....quaint," she said with a shrug "I just grew up there, ya know? Time for a change." Alicia took another sip from her drink. However, at Katie's suggestion of staying with Oliver, Alicia nearly choked. She had a feeling that he wouldn't be thrilled that Katie had just offered up his place. And honestly, she wasn't sure what seeing him every day would do to her psyche. The last time she had been around him for long amounts of time, he'd been hers. There hadn't been much in the ways of boundaries. Alicia would hate it if she tried to fall back into old habits with her friend's new boyfriend. Not that he'd let her. Which would actually just make everything worse. "I don't know....I wouldn't want to cause a problem. With you, anyway."

She liked the idea of being around to annoy the living shite out of Wood. But she didn't want to add any unnecessary strain to her friendship with Katie.

She wasn't surprised her suggestion shocked Alicia, it had shocked her a bit as well. Of course, she wouldn't want any of her friends to stay somewhere if they were unhappy. That was certainly never fun. Oliver and Warrington were still chatting and the two hadn't come to blows. Quite impressive. He was quite wonderful, really. Wood, of course. Warrington was an arse. A soft sigh escaped as she thought about how much she enjoyed him. He made her laugh. Laughing was always nice. "I dunno," she started, looking back at Alicia. "Wood has this way about him. He's there if you need a hand, ya know? It's always good to help friends." She waved her hand and went back to her sandwich. "You'd have to get his approval, though."

Katie thought about what Alicia said and knew she was right. She wasn't quite sure what happened to them. They'd always seemed like they'd been happy. Of course, papers liked to spin tales but her friends had said they worked well together. She looked down at her glass. "Do you mind if I ask what happened?" She nodded towards Oliver. "We haven't really talked about it that much...just you know, me feeling quite shitty about it and all."

"Somehow I think that want to help out friends changes when the friend in question is your crazy ex with an anger problem. Just a thought," she said with another shrug.

"Why should you feel shitty? Fucking get over it already, Bell. It's not like I own the git or anything," she said, taking another quick look at him. She hated his face. She hated his face for being so dorky and attractive at the same time. She really really wanted to punch it. "You probably haven't talked about it because there's nothing to talk about. You've seen us. We argue. We argue, we bicker, we occasionally have a good moment. Then he'd go out of town. Then I would go out of town. Then a week later, we'd both get back and we'd argue some more," and shag like crazy. "The timing of it all was just terrible. You don't start a relationship if neither of you are ever going to be around." Of course, Alicia had a feeling that Oliver would have a completely different story. But that's exactly what had happened from her perspective.

It had taken a while though, to get used to coming back from games and not having someone to bicker with. It had been lonely. Eventually, Alicia had stopped even going back to her flat after matches. If she didn't return, there wasn't anything to miss. And this, of course, lead to her terrible habit of moving around all the time. Damn, he'd had more of an effect on her than she thought. She was really starting to regret not having saved that punch for Wood.

Katie watched her friend closely. She'd changed. A lot. She seemed very unsettled. Alicia's face was quite fascinating. The arrange of emotions that passed over her friends face was very insightful. An almost tenderness for Oliver than in the same instant annoyance and pure fury. Katie wasn't sure she'd felt that much in a long time. Propping her head on her chin, she watched her closely.

Alicia was definitely telling the truth but there was something else there. Regret, perhaps. Sighing, Katie just shrugged. "I'll probably never get over it. To me, he was always yours." Katie wondered if he'd expect the fighting and bickering from her. She hadn't half the passion Alicia did.

"Oliver wouldn't give up on his friends," she said, knowingly. "No matter how much you drive him crazy."

Katie's smile brightened when she caught side of a certain red-head. "George," she called, waving him over.

George grinned and headed towards the table. "Well," he said, sliding in next to Katie. "Spinnet! Heard you were in town, darling. Apologies for not giving a hug. I like my face just the way it is, thanks."

Alicia was about to respond to Katie when she waved George over. George fucking Weasley. Alicia just stared at him for a minute. She hadn't talked to him since the Battle either. Of course, at this point it shouldn't really be surprising. The moral of Alicia's life is pretty much that she hasn't talked to anybody in forever. It was still weird, seeing people she used to see all the time. Almost like no time had passed. But if this had been a few years back, Alicia definitely would have been more excited and less awkward feeling. And she would have gotten a hug.

And what was that about his face? Alicia's brow furrowed. Did he think she was going to punch him too? She automatically looked at Katie. She must have said something. Fucking fantastic. How hard was it to take one little punch and an awkward following conversation and just brush it off?

She forced a small smile as she looked back to George, still really unsure about how she felt about him being there. Being confronted by all these people from her past was not the easiest thing in the world. " I like my face just the way it is" "Yeah, well, that makes one of us," she said jokingly, trying her best to hide the crazy for as long as possible. She had a feeling she was already failing pretty badly at it though.

Katie had become something of a connoisseur of looks. Perhaps it was her knew found quiet nature but even in school she'd been adept at reading peoples emotions. George was uncomfortable and it seemed as though Alicia was the tiniest bit hurt that she'd gotten a somewhat cold greeting from George.

George, on the other hand, was feeling rather awkward. He'd actually prefer being shut in whatever debate Warrington and Wood were in. Of course, he'd never sat down at a table where a friend happened to be between them. Glancing from Bell to Spinnet. He shook his head. Poor bastard.

Rubbing his chin, he gave her a wink. "Yes, well, I'm quite lovely. Even if you don't appreciate it."

Katie laughed and quickly finished her sandwich. Was it bad she wanted another? Swallowing the last of her butterbeer, she turned to George. "Alicia's thinking about settling in Hogsmeade."

Raising a brow, he looked at Spinnet. "Indeed. Well, the old gangs nearly back together. Harry's busy becoming an Auror or some nonsense. Fred's running the Diagon shoppe."

He waived the barmaid over. "More drinks, love," he said. "Another sandwich for the little piggy over here and I'll take the soup."

Looking back at Alicia, he studied her quickly. She looked...tired. "Well, I for one am bloody glad you're here Spinnet." It was quite good to have old friends around.

"She's looking for a place to stay," Katie said, eying George. "You found a place yet?"

George shook his head. "Not quite. The place above Zonkos is a disaster and infested with pixies and the like. Take a while to get it in shape. It's the floo for a while." He looked back at the two girls. "Care to help me get the little buggers out?"

It was weird. Everyone kept saying that they were happy Alicia was back. But she still couldn't shake the feeling that they weren't all being honest. After all, if they had missed her, wouldn't they have tried harder to keep in touch? She just felt like now that she was back, they felt obligated to be nice. Because, after all, they were all such genuinely good people. Not a mean bone between the lot of them.

She listened to their back and forth for a minute, not really sure what to say. Katie was talking ABOUT her, not TO her. And George was trying to be nice. But he seemed not quite comfortable. If you had been an outsider looking in, the three of them would have looked like they were comfortable and fine like old times. But actually being at the table, it felt so different. Tense, almost. "It's erm, good to be back. Weird. But good. I've missed you lot."

As he asked for help with pixies, Alicia scrunched her nose. That did not sound like an amusing time. Pixies were annoying little buggers and were sure to raise Alicia's temper. Although, perhaps getting rid of them would be a good way to release some anger. As long as she could keep it confined to just the pixies, anyway "I could help, I suppose," she said with a shrug before taking a drink of her firewhiskey. "What do ya say, Katie? Could be fun?" she said, offering a smile to her friend.

Katie smiled, glad to hear that Alicia had missed them. Raising a brow, her smile broadened. "Removing pixies could be rather interesting...I'm fairly certain it shouldn't be too hard." She cringed. She'd had to depixiesd a room before and it could be fairly annoying if your spells weren't timed properly.

"I suppose I could help out."

George grinned. "Brilliant. Two bright witches at my beck and call. Fantastic." There was sure to be loads of swearing. Mostly from Alicia but, it'd still be quite amusing. "I'll bring the alcohol."

"What for?" Katie asked, drinking her butterbeer.

George looked at Alicia and grinned. "To get quite pissed. What else?"

Alicia couldn't stop the grin that spread across her face. George had practically spoken the magic words. "You really know your way to a girls heart," she said, winking at him playfully. "Or her knickers, I suppose, depending on the girl," she added on as an after thought. She let out a small laugh when Katie asked what the alcohol was for. She quickly brought her hand up to try to cover it, however.

Katie was such a soft spoken, easy going person. Alicia wasnt really sure why she was surprised that Katie had asked what it was for. It was kind of refreshing being around someone so....good again. You didnt get much of that with the crowds Alicia spent her time around. She was definitely going to have to get Katie to let loose a bit.

Alicia started to think about what Katie would be like drunk. She seemed like she might be an emotional, sad drunk. But Alicia really hoped she wasn't. It would be amazing if a louder, more confident Katie emerged. It was definitely going to be Alicia's goal to discover which it was. This was going to be epic.

Or her knickers. Katie blushed when George nudged her. She'd given in quite easily to Wood after a few rounds of firewhisky. Glancing back him she smiled and shook her head, lost in silent thought. She really was quite a lightweight. Alicia was still coherent and Katie had been tearing her clothes off to get into bed with Wood after three.

George just laughed at his friends uncomfortableness. "You and me Spinnet. We'll drink and let Katie deal with the mess."

Snorting, Katie shook her head. "I believe I'm off liqour for a bit. Apparently, I become quite friendly."

George grinned. "So, lovely ladies, when's this blessed event to happen?"

From what Katie was saying, it only made sense for Alicia to assume what had happened with Oliver. So he had gotten her drunk, eh? That was awfully classy of him. And Katie found him charming why? If she had hooked up with because he got her drunk, she would not be such a fan of his in the morning. Not that there was anything wrong with drunk sex. Alicia loved the hell out of that. But to originally get together under the pretenses of alcohol? That never lead to good things.

Alicia couldn't hide her disappointment at Katie's declaration of sobriety. That just made Alicia want to get her drunk even more badly. "All right, George. You're on!" Well, even if Katie was going to be a challenge, at least she knew she could count on George for some fun.

"I literally have nothing to do for...a while," she said with a shrug. Katie was the one with a serious job and responsibilities. It was whatever was convenient for her and George, really. "Just let me know whatever works for you two and I'll be there," she said with a small smile. She was starting to really look forward to hexing the fuck out of some pixies.

George was excited. He'd loved hanging out with these two crazy birds. Of course, they were both a bit different now. Katie supremely uptight and Alicia as wild as they could be. Somehow, they needed to find common ground.

"Sounds quite settled to me," he said, raising his glass in toast. "I get to be surrounded by two lovely women and the lovely lady alcohol. I can't imagine how this could possibly go wrong."

Katie laughed and glanced back towards Oliver and Warrington. "How on earth are they having a civil conversation. I'm not sure I quite understand what's going on over there," she said, waving towards them.
