What an excellent, very satisfying story! I enjoyed this very much, thank you for putting things right (or rather, telling it like it really was!)

Thank you, hon!
And, as you say, all I did was put things right. ;)
Glad you enjoyed it!

Mystery Author, you managed to hit most of the events in the books and told them as they really were. I think I love you. *hugs gift fic, pets it and calls it precioussssss*

This is fabulous! I love, love, love Aurora being so strong and patient and how she manages to save Severus from himself and their courtship is perfect.

The timing on this posting was incredible. My crappy week was made shining and special with this present. thank you!

Heh. I had to stretch to slip it in, but I knew it had to be in there somehow. *g*

When I first saw your comment I had this vision of you cuddled up to the fic, cooing at it. ;)
YAY that you enjoyed it, sweetie! I did get inspired by your love of Aurora as I was writing this, so thank you for that.
And the fact that I could help you with your bad week? Icing on the cake. ♥

I confess to having a Warner Brothers moment: "I will love it, and squeeze it, and hug it, and I will call it George"

My love of Aurora has grown into me picking out yarn to knit a Sinistra doll.

What a wonderful fic! I loved the pacing of it and the slowly evolving relationship - nice to think Severus might have had friends like this during his ordeal! Just lovely!

Thanks, darling!
And yes, if Severus had had just one true friend I am sure things in canon could have been quite different. *sigh*

What an interesting viewpoint for (almost) canon! The astronomy professor is certainly an underwritten character in canon and it was lovely to have her fleshed out, and very interesting to have her as one of the Slytherins on the side of Light. Her celestial code was a wonderful device and her relationship with Snape was lovely. I'm not usually a fan of either him or het sex, but you managed to convince me. In fact it was pretty hot smut! An enjoyable read.

Hee! Thank you! You should have seen the grin on my face when I read your comment. :)
Sinistra is definitely an under-written character, and I imagine she had to have been interesting in her own right, bless her.
Also? I once had someone tell me that she thinks slashers write the hottest het sex, so I have always tried extra hard when writing it. *g*

A very engaging tale, and one the happiest outcomes I have seen for Snape.

Aurora seems okay with the way things turned out as well, ;

I quite enjoyed this, thank you,
L

Thank you so much!
Yes, I suspect that with just one person on Snape's side he could have made it, which is why I love to do that for him in stories. Aurora was very determined to have him prosper, too. *g*

What a satisfying and interesting story to hunker down with for the evening. A great conceit, and I love the way you've developed Aurora here. Wonderfully done, Mystery Author!

Thank you! :)
Aurora was fun to write, and as I scoured the HP wiki and the Lexicon for canon information, she got more and more interesting. *g*
I may be writing more of her. :)

“Why Albus even allowed that moron [Lockhart] in the school is beyond me--”
Severus, who had been steadily decanting, sighed. “Believe me, Madam, I have asked him.” He rolled his eyes. “From what I can tell, his goal is to have the students be able to recognise a charlatan when next they meet one.”

LOL! I think this is my favorite line.

I can’t believe Father found an Arithmancy formula to turn that around, to look at our planet and see what an observer from space would. With only minor manipulation, I can see what will happen in our future since it’s really the universe’s past!

This is really a rather clever and original idea. I don't think I've seen it in fic before.

Heh. Thank you. :)
I simply had to say something about the constant revolving door of DADA professors. *g*

When the idea for the celestial code came to me, I thought it'd be fun to explore, and, while it obviously doesn't really stand up to scientific scrutiny, I figured if I waved my hands enough people woud buy it. ;)

What a wonderful story! *sighs happily* I never would have thought Sinistra to be so young, and having started so recently at Hogwarts, but it makes a lot of sense and works perfectly. I so love her way to get into Snape's good graces, and become a friend, a lover, and a partner to him, and finally to assuring his survival. This is what he should have had in canon right away, someone really caring about him and what happens to him. Making all this fit so well into canon is all but easy, and you achieved that perfectly. And the part with the Celestial Code was brilliant. I love it when an author manages to introduce a new piece of magic lore and it's fitting so well into canon, and am in awe of the intricacy and logic involved of this one. And I also shudder to think what Dumbledore would have done with it - so good he didn't get his brains on!

Thank you so much!
I did a fair bit of research on Aurora and, this image of her stuck with me, so I based her character on that actress.
Making her young was taking a chance, but seemed to fit with this image, and I decided she would have to be a strong woman to stand up to the stresses of the age. I even pondered making her a Ravenclaw, but decided Severus wouldn't have been as open with a non-Slytherin.
The celestial code was fun to create, although I admit I had to do a lot of hand-waving to make it work in my mind . *g*
*shivers with you* Yeah, Dumbledore with information like that would have been lethal!

Thanks again for the fabulous comments! :)

It's nice to see a different perspective on canon events than Harry's limited view, and I like the clever twist on future-telling and altering fate.

I enjoyed this. I like the way you slot the entire story into canon, and your Aurora is appealing, believable, and interesting. I particularly like the role that Poppy plays; all the cameos, in fact, are great fun, as is Aurora's clever magic and research. Thanks for the good read (and the hot Severus!)

Thank you, my dear!
Yeah, I can't seem to make Severus anything but hot, I'm afraid. ;)
Aurora was a fun character to explore, and I loved giving her great friends in Poppy and Charity.
I felt that I had to make her clever, too, since Severus requires a partner who can keep up with him, IMO. :)

What a lovely take on an underappreciated and underused Canon character! You've given her a terrific and very believable backstory that's definitely more appealing than the limited glimpses given in the original. The strong friendship between Aurora, Poppy and Charity is an especially pleasing addition, and the way you fit your story in with the events of the originals is splendid. :-) And good on her for working to make the future she wants come to pass, and wasn't Severus lucky that she had the determination to see it through? Good work, Mystery Author!

I think Severus was really lucky to have this Aurora on his side, you're right! :)
Thanks so much! She was fun to write and I suppose it is freeing to write a character that doesn't have a lot set in stone. *g*
Also? I have always felt that Severus could have been fine had he just one person to properly support him. Which is wh I love to give that to him in my fics. :)
Thanks again for your kind comments. I really appreciate them!
