This is utterly brilliant. The entire set-up was so real . . . I live in an area where there are many Holocaust survivors, and there have been several waves of oral history projects aimed at making certain their stories aren't lost before infirmity and death seal that information away permanently. So I could easily see the bright young thing and the grizzled survivor, as she listens - almost too earnestly, then skeptically, then excitedly, as he watches her and decides just what it is he will tell. I love that he relives those memories completely, but holds some back out of respect to Minerva and Severus. The writing is lovely, and I love the way it ends, with all the possibilities one could imagine waiting for the pair. Thank you so much for sharing!
