So very atmospheric and funny and hot and imaginative! I love the library/bookshop setting, and it works just so excellently to bring Irma and Rita – both women of the written word – together. I love their snark (both before and after) and the tension; how could they possibly not resent but be fascinated by each other?
Love shameless Auntie Muriel and her men, dear, understanding Aiken, the elderly books as the sexiest background imaginable, and NOT TO FORGET Irma's and Rita's footwear and legs *fans self*.
Also, you can't possibly imagine how much I adored the inspired Sapphic Scarecrows. Great on so many levels. And good thing Irma tells us that it's “highly important: one of the first lesbian books written for agricultural witches.” Otherwise we just might have been as mistaken as to think that there was a tiny bit of meta in that! :O
