You don't romanticize here, but your characterization is compelling nonetheless. I am fascinated by Gregory's process of coming to terms with his interest in Rabastan, with exactly who and what he is, with his own strength and limitations. He's just so comfortable in his own skin, and this makes him very real for me. For that matter, I accept your plot and characterization without reservation and am impressed by how engrossed I was from the opening scene of your story—which is unflinching in its depiction of cruelty and rightly so. And, while I don't like either Gregory or Rabastan, you make me root for them because of your exploration of what passes for Gregory's understanding of decency. "Enjoy" is the wrong word, but I appreciate this story so much for its commitment to the characters; I can't imagine seeing them any way other than you've drawn them, now. This is excellent; I'm so impressed. :)
