Ven's Holiday Wishes
(slightly modified from my journal version)
Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your IJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Harry icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your IJ, so that the holiday joy will spread. Keep your eyes open for the wishes of your friends.

And now here's the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use—or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free—do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf—to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not — it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

My 10 Holiday Wishes

1. Blessings of good health for all of my loved ones (that includes you) (and me!)

2. Candles of any kind; we use a lot of them here, especially this time of year. tapers, tall and short pillars, tealights, all colours, scented, unscented. I love candles.

3. I need an organizational coach! or just someone to hang out with me while I muck out my home office. I hate going through the stuff, but I could get rid of a lot. Any hand-holders for the organizationally challenged willing to visit? Free lodgings at the Holy Unpredictable Manor!

4. Slytherin Stuff!! I really want a green and silver scarf, and any other Slytherin items would get a loving home.

5. I'd love some help improving my journal. I am unskilled at making good use of tags and filters, and don't know how to add header art, etc.

6. Tea! I prefer oolongs and black teas, particularly Earl Grey and Chai. Any real tea from a Brit grocery store is love! PG Tips and Marks & Spencer Earl Grey are faves.

7. Now that we have elected an American President who appears to be intelligent and caring, I wish with all my heart that the American people will work with him, and pitch in to help make life better. I pray that those people with nothing better to do than attack, criticize and spread negativity will suddenly become even busier than I am, until they think of something positive to contribute.

8. i-Tunes!!!! Eclectic music. Ambient, spacey stuff. Men who sing their hearts out. The playlists you used to write your fics. Sound tracks. Piano music. Anything witchy.

9. Dog toys. tennis balls! Walking buddies for me and the girls. Or, dog walkers for when I am not home.  Affordable doggy daycare near my metro station or office.

10. Make a donation to public radio, the Humane Society or equivalent, Human Rights Campaign, or you local shelter or food bank.

YAY! thank you for the cool disc.. wonderful spacey things I would never have found.

big squishy hugs to you, if you're into that sort of thing!

It always takes me a while to 'learn' new music. eventually I start dreaming it. at some point I may have a more coherent comment!

right now Drone Download is easing my boring day.

You're quite welcome!

I've picked up a lot of that just noodling around or through Last.FM recommendations.

And the Drone Download project is perfect for boring, repetitious stuff. It's a website that offers tons of free downloads, so you can go find other things that you might like more than I did.
