Harry meets with Dumbledore
It was a familiar path, one that he was sure he wouldn't forget for the rest of his life. He could walk it in his sleep, he was absolutely certain. Muttering the password that he had been told the last time he had to go to Professor Dumbledore's office, he made his way up the staircase. Knocking on the heavy door, he waited for the professor to admit him in. It was different knowing that this was going to be the conversation that was going to set everything into motion. The last time he had been in this position he had been trying to absorb all this information, now he was unsure of how much Dumbledore knew and how much they needed to cover. He would find out soon enough though.

"Come in," Albus said, smiling over his shoulder toward the door as he put his calcination apparatus away on one of his shelves. He had to admit that he was quite looking forward to this visit. Harry was quite obviously the leader of his little Band of Time Travellers (as he had come to think of them collectively), even if they hadn't consciously elected him such. Regardless of his official status in the group, Albus was certain this meeting would be informative, if nothing else. He moved back behind his desk and sat down, just as the door swung open. "Good evening, Harry. I trust that you are quite well?"

	He nodded, "Indeed, sir. And yourself?" It wasn't really about idle chatter, it was truly about what needed to be done and when they needed to start. "Horcruxes?" Albus asked, his eyebrows rising quite high on his forehead. He knew a great deal, of course, but he was surprised Harry that had ever heard of them. After all, Albus had single-handedly removed every book from the Hogwarts library that so much as mentioned the subject. "I fear that I know more about them than I would like to," he said quietly, finally answering Harry's question. "Why do you ask?"

He should have assumed that Dumbledore would be surprised to hear the word, but he hadn't realized that it had become an almost taboo subject. "I believe, well, you told me before that Voldemort had created Horcruxes to give himself a form of immortality. Seven of them, to be exact." Harry readjusted himself in the seat, the weight of the topic hitting him. "We're going to lose this war unless we can destroy all of them."

Horcruxes -- in the plural. Well. That certainly explained Tom's appearance the last time they'd met. "Thank you for telling me this, Harry. It does seem that we have our work cut out for us, does it not?" He gave the boy a small smile, but he frowned a second later. "Forgive me -- I do not mean to be glib, but in such a case, it is better to smile than to despair. Now." He took a deep breath and nodded, resigned. "Did I happen to give you any indication of what these Horcruxes might be?"

	The thing was, Harry realized suddenly, was they they were back to square one. The diary hadn't been destroyed, nor the Gaunt ring. Nothing. "I know of two of them, Marvolo Gaunt's ring and Voldemort's own diary. But that still leaves four Horcruxes unaccounted for." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

"Two, however, is better than none," Albus answered, and he was certain that his eyes were twinkling. Taking a deep breath, he clasped his hands together on the desk in front of him. "I imagine if I told you all this, Harry, it will not surprise you to learn that I have been watching Lord Voldemort closely for a number of years -- his movements as well as his methods. With a little research, I do believe I may be able to track down any other Horcruxes he may have made soon enough, although I must express my gratitude that you have put me on the scent. Now, is there anything else that you wish to tell me this afternoon?"

	He had forgotten that Dumbledore didn't know too much about the room, it was hard weighing what this Dumbledore knew against what the other Dumbledore knew.
