On the grounds (open)
Lexine was taking a pleasant stroll through the grounds, taking some samples of bark for a potion she was working on. She hated that in the winter she couldn't collect the plant samples she could in the spring, but the bark samples were enough to tide her over, along with her mail order catalogues.

She had taken out her knife and started to slice the tree nearest to her when she heard someone behind her.

Luna had been looking for discarded bottle caps to make jewelry with when she spied a young version of her mother shaving bits of wood off a tree. She knew that they were supposed to be careful about talking to their parents while in the past, so she had resolved to simply look at Lexine and not talk to her. However, the temptation proved too great. "Hello," she said gently. "Are you going to use that bark for a potion or do you collect it?"

Lexine looked behind her when Luna spoke. She didn't recognize her immediately, but then realized she was the new girl in their dorm. She searched for the name, and then realized that this was the girl with the same name as her cat. "Luna, right? Yes, I do plan to use it for a potion eventually. I don't know what yet, but I like to have stores around just in case." The girl hadn't spoken to her much, but for some reason Lexine was interested in getting to know her. Perhaps it was her peculiar manner of accessorizing.

"Yes, Luna is my name. Luna Lamb, that is," she replied. "It's good to have stores for when the opportunity arises. You never know when you might need something. That's also great that you go out and gather ingredients from nature. It's very self-sufficient and you can be more sure of the quality. Merchants often sell substandard products, claiming they're better than they are." Luna smiled as she stuffed the three bottle caps she'd found so far into her pocket.

Lexine looked at the girl, studying what she was doing. "It's nice to collect thing here on the grounds, but it's sad in the winter when I have to settle for barks and evergreens. You'll probably see me out here a lot more when springtime comes. But I also know many good merchants, should you need anything. In fact, I have a collection of moths coming in soon." She saw her picking up the bottlecaps and her curiousity was piqued. "Are the bottlecaps for a potion?"

She shook her head. "I make jewelry with them. I had a pretty necklace that I strung together, but I wasn't able bring it here with me. So I'm starting fresh. Since I no longer have a ready supply of bottled butterbeer, I'm collecting them off the ground. That way I'll have enough to make a new necklace sooner." Luna clasped her hands together at looked off at the sky. "I feel a little sorry for the bottle caps, too. People think they're rubbish and throw them wherever they land. It's rather sad. Rubbish can be put to so many good uses. Nothing should be tossed aside without getting a chance to flourish and live up to its potential."

	Lexine looked at the girl. She was quite interesting! Lexine grinned; there was nothing like a new and interesting person. "That's interesting. Luna smiled. Her mother was quite a bit like her. Sure, she took after her father somewhat more (especially around the eyes), but a lot of her personality came from Lexine. "I hope so. None of us from the village have too many nice things now. Until Professor Dumbledore arranged to get us donations, we didn't even have a change of clothes. I felt filthy when I woke up after sleeping for a month in one outfit. I probably would had smelled awful, too, if Madam Pomfrey hadn't regularly Scourgified us."
