The Owlery [open]
She wore soft slippers, so that her footsteps on the Owlery stairs wouldn't be too obvious. Sappho feared her legs would give out before she reached the top, not because it was a long climb, but because she was shaking all over. She could do this. She was going to march up there -- or tiptoe, rather -- select an owl, and attach this letter to its leg, if it killed her. Then Severus would have no choice but to acknowledge that she existed.

Well, he could always refuse to reply, but she didn't want to think about that. And even if he didn't answer, at least he would know that somebody fancied him.

She opened the door slowly, peeking inside before she entered, to make certain no one else was in there. She definitely couldn't do this with an audience. Looking around at the owls on the perches, she decided to use a Great Horned owl that sort of resembled Severus, or would have if he were a bird. It was giving her a "you must be joking" type of look, and the feathers over its eye distinctly resembled Severus' eyebrow, when he arched it so adorably.

After attaching the letter to the bird's leg (and he was still glaring at her), she gave it an apologetic smile. "I'd like you to wait for an answer," she whispered. She found that she was too timid even to hold the bird's gaze for long, so Sappho turned and headed for the door, intent on creeping back down the stairs to the dungeons.
