In the Library [open]
Amber had spent more time in the library during the past week than she had during the last three years combined. It wasn't that she had a lot of homework. In fact, she had finished her assignments days ago. She was really starting to regret that now. There was nothing to do when classes weren't in session and the majority of the students were at home.
Home. Amber was supposed to be there now. She would be there if it weren't for her mother's latest "friend." He had persuaded Mrs. Anders to spend the holidays with him in Spain. "You'll have much more fun at school," her mother had written. Amber found that hard to believe. Anything would be better than reviewing her notes for the thousandth time.
Amber dropped her knapsack onto an empty table and rested her head on top of it. She supposed she could use this time to start reading ahead. Or, she could actually look for something to read for fun. Amber nearly chuckled at that idea. Somehow, she doubted she'd find any books here that would hold her interest.
