Little Scamp Scampered Off... [Ancient Egypt] (tag: Hermes)
After This.
When Thoth heard that young Hermes had come to see him, there was no hiding that it pleased him. The boy was smart, clever and rather anxious to see and learn new things. Delightful qualities to have. He was very, very fond of the boy. He'd been told there was an extension of xenia so it might have been a bit before he'd actually see the kid.
Except that several hours passed, enough that he noted the change in the set of the sun and still Hermes had not been brought before him. Perhaps he fell asleep. A full stomach and having thirst quenched with beer could have understandably caused a certain degree of drowsiness and the Greek was more than welcome to stay and rest.
But come the next morning, Hermes still did not come before him. Strange. Seshat had made a reference to something having been unusual, but Thoth had been -as per usual, distracted and missed most of what was said. Ah well. She obviously hadn't been offended or he would have heard more on it, he was certain. Then at questioning some of the staff it seemed that the young Greek had fled abruptly the day before. Perhaps the boy had been summoned back to Greece. He was a son of Zeus, after all. It was possible.
Well, if Hermes had made the long journey to see Thoth, he must have wanted something. So Thoth would go to the boy.
Which led him to the Greek countryside, which Thoth enjoyed walking in very much. The lush greenery and the shift in temperature was a nice change from the slightly more arid parts of Egypt. There was a silent invitation sent so that wherever the amusing little scamp was, he could come join Thoth for a walk and they could discuss whatever it was Hermes had originally wanted.
Or talk about nothing in particular at all, if that was preferred. He really did like the kid.
