Okay, so I'm going to try this again ... I'm looking for a PSL for this character. I put this ( constancy ) journal together months ago and haven't found anyone to play her with and I'm hoping to find someone for her here. I'm looking for an Arthur for her and then eventually a young Henry. |

It had been a harsh, cold winter for many in the small village. But, weren't they all? No matter, it would always be worth the cold and the snow when spring crept back around the corner. The flowers would begin to bloom again. The fields would show green once more. And life would start afresh and anew- at least, for all but one.
Moritz Steifel had failed. Despite working so hard to pass and with all the help Melchior Gabor had offered, the young man found himself in an impossible predicament. Failure was not an option in the Steifel household- or in any household in their small village. It would be a black scar on his families name. One that his father could never erase. He had no choice, but to escape. He had to leave...one way or another. So, Moritz threw away his last bit of pride and wrote to Frau Gabor. She would understand. She always understood 'her boys' as she'd referred to her son and his best friend so affectionately.
Days passed before he received a response. Days filled with anxious passing and darker thoughts. And then, one morning there it was. A letter! The envelope was heavier than the boy had expected but, to his surprise and astonishment, it was because inside was a fulfillment of his request and a letter bearing only six words: Be safe. God be with you.
It was a simple blessing, but it was hope for a new life for the young man. Little could he know, it also meant a change in the winds of fate for all who knew him. He set off to Berlin that very day, stealing away in the early afternoon as his father worked. He did not bid his friends farewell, despite his desire to do so. He would only send one last letter to his best friend, informing him of his fate- a fate that lay across the ocean in a land he'd only read about in books.
New York City. Melchior had to read the letter twice before the reality of what his best friend had done set in. He knew not where Moritz had gained such the means to travel. Nor did he know what fate America would hold in store for him, though the other boy had promised to write as soon as he arrived. A strange sense of sadness and relief filled his heart. New York. Melchi secretly envied his friend. To set off on such an adventure! In a land filled with liberal ideas and free thinkers. He would ponder what sort of men a free society would create. He'd read tales of life in the 'States'...and how, in that land, men could shape their own destinies and truly be equal and free. Where it did not matter what you believed of God or where you were born.
Of course, it was to be expected that his thoughts would dwell to how he might fare in such a place when a voice broke his concentration- a female voice. Melchior turned to find Wendla staring up at him...and he forgot everything else save the innocent child who'd found him alone in that hayloft.
As you can probably assess from the narrative above, this is an AU Spring Awakening game based on a single change to the play and the consequences that follow. Our premise assumes that Moritz was granted the money to go to America by Melchior's mother, and thus never committed suicide. This chain of events will eventually lead his classmates to follow their friend to New York City for the hope of a new life in America.
Both canon and original characters are welcome in game. Because the game will (eventually) be placed in Little Germany, NYC circa 1892, there is plenty of room for all sorts of new characters to interact with our cast- from all over the world, in fact. New York City was a thriving, exciting, and dangerous place that millions flocked to to start over, so the possibilities are truly endless!
Most wanted:Anna, Thea, Otto, and Hans!! We also need OCs! Since this is a game that takes place mostly in the late 19th century, New York, Original Characters from around the world are encouraged. |

The Kingdom of Frell is at peace. Though the so-called Golden Age of King Char and Queen Ella is long over- so long ago now that few are still alive who can remember it- life continues on much as it ever did. Merchants travel the lands far and wide, finding new and exotic goods to bring back to Greenville, the town just outside the royal palace. Greenville's markets are thriving, and most of the town's inhabitants pay little mind to the castle looming in the distance.
That is, of course, until The Gray Death appears. There is no known cure. Sufferers initially feel very weak, and are soon not even able to get out of bed. Overcome by fever, their complexions turn gray and they die. Still, Greenville believes it is safe- there are just rumors of the illness, and being so close to the castle, they're safe, right?
Wrong. The illness knows no boundaries, a fact that is brought starkly to light when the King of Frell contracts the disease and dies a short time later. The King leaves behind a land in limbo- his wife, the Queen, is trying her level best to keep power from the hands of their immature son. Heroes search for a cure, trying to avenge their fallen King. Life in Greenville continues on, if a bit more cautiously. Life in the court, however, is marked by ambition and intrigue. Courtiers' motives are far from pure, and ambitions are on the rise. No one is sure who will emerge victorious.
Happily ever after was never a guarantee. Fair is an original character role playing game inspired by Ella Enchanted, Fairest, and The Two Princesses of Bamarre by Gail Carson Levine. The game takes place in the world created by those books, but no canon knowledge is required or expected. All fantasy characters welcomed!

FAQ // Rules // Application // Cast It's happy hour at the Knife-in-the-Eye Pub. Kit Marlowe tends bar, and Tiberius Claudius Drusus Nero Germanicus is probably in the back cooking the books. The Knife-in-the-Eye is one of the more happening joints on Gropecunt Lane, somewhere in the underworld, where those who have been immortalized in song and story...are stuck.
One for the Books is a semi-structured, primarily comedic LJ RP for historical figures. Rulers, statesmen, scholars, artists, soldiers, and eccentrics from all periods and all places congregate at the Knife-in-the-Eye and contemplate the ineffable -- when they're not at each others' throats, that is. From Will Shakespeare introducing his fellow patrons to the joys of Elizabethan Scrabble, to Ramses II and Montezuma having a pyramid-measuring contest, to Peter the Great dangling things over Napoleon's head, to Nero and the Marquis de Sade throwing the craziest parties history's ever seen, to Vlad Tepes attempting to woo Countess Elizabeth Bathory, it's never boring.

The year is 1525, King Henry VIII is on the throne of England, Catherine of Aragon is Queen, and the religion of the land is Catholisim. It is a time of peace but neighboring monarchs are always eager for the glory of war. The winds of change are blowing through Europe; the Renaissance is sweeping from Italy northward, the Reformation sweeping outward from Germany. Though England has thus far managed to escape the most radical movements that come with them, she won't be able to stay unchanged forever.
This game has been going on for a few months but we DESPERATLY need more people. Almost all characters are still open, but in particular we need a Henry VII as he is being played by another player just to fill at the moment, we lost our first Henry due to lack of participation. We also really need Thomas Moore, Cardinal Wolsey, and Thomas Boleyn, just to name a few.
So, if you love The Tudors tv show, as well as historically, please come check us out at tudorcourt. We want people who are going to particapte and be active. You can find the information what characters are available, and the application at tudorcourtooc. Please come check us out and if you are interested, let us know. We will hold a character for you if you see someone you like and want time to get an application together. But, PLEASE come play with us. We need people to keep the game going. |

Ok historicalrping, I need some feedback. I'm thinking about opening this place up, granted I realize it's a bad time with people going back to school, but I know that there are some of us who are just kind of twiddling our thumbs so hopefully this won't go unnoticed. Anyway I have two ideas kind of kicking back and forth and I'd like to know which if either people would be most interested in joining.
So, Idea #1: A basic medieval game, somewhat in the same vein as comitium and capability where you have a number of preset connections and roles to fill in. For this game there would likely be a King and Queen, their children, several knights and other assorted members of the court and possibly servants and people who live in the village surrounding such as blacksmiths and merchants etc.
Idea #2: King Arthur, the remix in which we have a list of available characters as premades such as Arthur, Guinivere, Galahad, etc. that can be played as you like and not necessarily sticking with their traditional role so long as the basic essence of the character still rings true.
Any takers? Questions and suggestions are welcome. |

We have another player that's been filling in for him since we had to loose our Henry due to lack of particpation. ALTERNATE UNIVERSity PREMISE
It was a quiet day on the campus of E. Paul University as Professor Reed experimented in his lab below Verne Hall Dorm. The teachers and teachers assistants that were a mere floor up and certainly the students living in the numerous floors even above that had no idea what was about to happen. But when Professor Reed's experiment turned horribly wrong seemingly everyone was affected. The tear in the dimensional fabric of the universe sucked those who were in the building into it's vortex dropping them into an entirely different time and space. Now those who were affected must band together survive the shifting of their world and the new cultures and experiences that await them before the next world is the end of them all.
HOW IT PLAYS
So, you say, how does this game work?
The tear in the fabric of the universe will happen roughly one week after the start of the game. The characters at that time will be pushed into an alternate reality where they will have to adjust to new social and cultural climates. What will this mean for you? We, as mods, will give a description of the alternate universe that you will be playing in and you will have to understand and play with the stipulations that universe brings along. In some cases universes will call for a particular social hierarchy (such as the jobs on a pirate ship or the class system in the Renaissance) and for these situations the mods will roll a dice (yes an actual dice) to assign jobs/classes. The idea is that things are always changing and that the characters have to adjust (or not adjust and maybe lose some marbles along the way) and that we're always playing fresh situations- so one month you may be the captain of a space ship and the next you may be a peasant scrounging for food in the Medieval England.
Roughly once a month we will post a vote for the upcoming world shift and you as players are welcome (and expected) to vote for and/or suggest the next AU that we play in.
Despite the movement of game time (which will be in "real time" according to our world, though the years will change depending on the AU) the movement of time in the original universe in which EPU exists will be moving much slower. Characters which are new to the game after the initial shift will start by walking into Verne Hall and suddenly find themselves in the AU that the game is currently playing in.
As we shift worlds, your characters will gain ghost knowledge of where they are. Despite the fact that you play, say, an art major, if we shift into a space opera AU you will have an innate/intangible understanding of how to perform your job as the ship's captain or as we move into a fairytale village you'll know where you live and that the strange elf in your house is in fact your husband, while still being entirely self-aware as well.
The use of NPCs will be greatly encouraged in this game as each world will come with a new set of people surrounding you. Ask your fellow players and mods to play NPCs for you or if you have an idea of a character you want to play briefly, then let the mods know.
Note: For some yet-unexplained reason the blackberries that the school issues to students and faculty members seem to work even in worlds where there are no towers, though only on the school network. This means that your characters can post to their IJs and text each other- but only each other. There won't be any phone calls from home, any emails from your girlfriend across campus, and your friend's page isn't going to show Joey-from-History-Class.
ARE YOU...?
Are you tired of Harry Potter, X-Men, and Twilight? Do you want to try a sampling of different time periods and genres? Maybe you just want something new or love throwing your characters into AUs as much as we do! Alternate U is a community that values creative and friendly players who are interested in character development and trying something new. (Please note AU is NOT a panfandom RPG and the other worlds that will be visited will be genre/archetypes.)
