"UP YOURS, HITLER."

The US Army Air Force needs YOU!

It's 1943 and the world is at war. The fate of history to come lies in the hands of a few hundred men and the planes they fly over the Third Reich's war machine, the bombs they drop, and the blood they shed.

Everyone in the small English town of Ongar does their part, whether it be the American Army Air Force and their B-26 Marauders, the nurses who tend to them, the Royal Air Force oversight who just handed their base over to the Americans, or the townspeople who make everyone feel at home.

Nurses, Medics, Pilots, Airmen, Cooks, School kids, Shop-owners, Repairmen, or a camp-following girl desperate for a bit of action with a Flyboy-- It's all up to you!

It's happy hour at the Knife-in-the-Eye Pub. Kit Marlowe tends bar, and Tiberius Claudius Drusus Nero Germanicus is probably in the back cooking the books. The Knife-in-the-Eye is one of the more happening joints on Gropecunt Lane, somewhere in the underworld, where those who have been immortalized in song and story...are stuck.

One for the Books is a semi-structured, primarily comedic LJ RP for historical figures. Rulers, statesmen, scholars, artists, soldiers, and eccentrics from all periods and all places congregate at the Knife-in-the-Eye and contemplate the ineffable -- when they're not at each others' throats, that is. From Will Shakespeare introducing his fellow patrons to the joys of Elizabethan Scrabble, to Ramses II and Montezuma having a pyramid-measuring contest, to Peter the Great dangling things over Napoleon's head, to Nero and the Marquis de Sade throwing the craziest parties history's ever seen, to Vlad Tepes attempting to woo Countess Elizabeth Bathory, it's never boring.

The world just got a dose of the supernatural, and one that it's still reeling from. It's starting to have to deal with the fact that on Halloween, the veil between the spirit world and the living was pulled back--and that veil never got dropped back into place. World wide, opinions are being flung around, rights activits are popping up, and a shadow organization is starting to get their fingers in as many pies as possible.

Which includes 'educational' field trips to haunted locations, to try and educate america's teenagers on the new elements in the world. One such field trip is scheduled for Marquette Senior High School soon.

Praelitis is starting a new plot arc soon, and we're looking for teenagers to join in the fun! Now's the time to join up with them, there's still a little time before it launches so people can get established! We also have three adoptable teenagers that anyone can take over with pre-existing contacts in game, all that's required is a writing sample! Don't like any details on the adoptees? Edit them!

The Kingdom of Frell is at peace.

Though the so-called Golden Age of King Char and Queen Ella is long over- so long ago now that few are still alive who can remember it- life continues on much as it ever did. Merchants travel the lands far and wide, finding new and exotic goods to bring back to Greenville, the town just outside the royal palace. Greenville's markets are thriving, and most of the town's inhabitants pay little mind to the castle looming in the distance.

That is, of course, until The Gray Death appears. There is no known cure. Sufferers initially feel very weak, and are soon not even able to get out of bed. Overcome by fever, their complexions turn gray and they die. Still, Greenville believes it is safe- there are just rumors of the illness, and being so close to the castle, they're safe, right?

Wrong.

The illness knows no boundaries, a fact that is brought starkly to light when the King of Frell contracts the disease and dies a short time later. The King leaves behind a land in limbo- his wife, the Queen, is trying her level best to keep power from the hands of their immature son. Heroes search for a cure, trying to avenge their fallen King. Life in Greenville continues on, if a bit more cautiously. Life in the court, however, is marked by ambition and intrigue. Courtiers' motives are far from pure, and ambitions are on the rise. No one is sure who will emerge victorious.

Happily ever after was never a guarantee.

Fair is an original character role playing game inspired by Ella Enchanted, Fairest, and The Two Princesses of Bamarre by Gail Carson Levine. The game takes place in the world created by those books.

The year is 1525, King Henry VIII is on the throne of England, Catherine of Aragon is Queen, and the religion of the land is Catholisim. It is a time of peace but neighboring monarchs are always eager for the glory of war. The winds of change are blowing through Europe; the Renaissance is sweeping from Italy northward, the Reformation sweeping outward from Germany. Though England has thus far managed to escape the most radical movements that come with them, she won't be able to stay unchanged forever.

This game has been going on for a few months but we DESPERATLY need more people. Almost all characters are still open, but in particular we need a Henry VII as he is being played by another player just to fill at the moment, we lost our first Henry due to lack of participation. We also really need Thomas Moore, Cardinal Wolsey, and Thomas Boleyn, just to name a few.

So, if you love The Tudors tv show, as well as historically, please come check us out at [info]tudorcourt. We want people who are going to particapte and be active. You can find the information what characters are available, and the application at [info]tudorcourtooc. Please come check us out and if you are interested, let us know. We will hold a character for you if you see someone you like and want time to get an application together. But, PLEASE come play with us. We need people to keep the game going.

Ok [info]historicalrping, I need some feedback. I'm thinking about opening this place up, granted I realize it's a bad time with people going back to school, but I know that there are some of us who are just kind of twiddling our thumbs so hopefully this won't go unnoticed. Anyway I have two ideas kind of kicking back and forth and I'd like to know which if either people would be most interested in joining.

So, Idea #1: A basic medieval game, somewhat in the same vein as [info]comitium and [info]capability where you have a number of preset connections and roles to fill in. For this game there would likely be a King and Queen, their children, several knights and other assorted members of the court and possibly servants and people who live in the village surrounding such as blacksmiths and merchants etc.

Idea #2: King Arthur, the remix in which we have a list of available characters as premades such as Arthur, Guinivere, Galahad, etc. that can be played as you like and not necessarily sticking with their traditional role so long as the basic essence of the character still rings true.

Any takers? Questions and suggestions are welcome.

This is an rpg based on the Showtime series, 'The Tudors.' We have been up and running a couple of months now, but we are still missing quite a few main characters, most importantly King Henry, VIII. We have another player that's been filling in for him since we had to loose our Henry due to lack of particpation. Please check out the main journal at [info]tudorcourt and the Out of Character Journal [info]tudorcourtooc to check the list of needed and taken characters. You can send your application to redd_phoenixx@yahoo.com. We are trying to pick up the pace of the game and want people who can be active are familar with the tv show as well as events in history.

ALTERNATE UNIVERSity

PREMISE

It was a quiet day on the campus of E. Paul University as Professor Reed experimented in his lab below Verne Hall Dorm. The teachers and teachers assistants that were a mere floor up and certainly the students living in the numerous floors even above that had no idea what was about to happen. But when Professor Reed's experiment turned horribly wrong seemingly everyone was affected. The tear in the dimensional fabric of the universe sucked those who were in the building into it's vortex dropping them into an entirely different time and space. Now those who were affected must band together survive the shifting of their world and the new cultures and experiences that await them before the next world is the end of them all.

HOW IT PLAYS

So, you say, how does this game work?

The tear in the fabric of the universe will happen roughly one week after the start of the game. The characters at that time will be pushed into an alternate reality where they will have to adjust to new social and cultural climates. What will this mean for you? We, as mods, will give a description of the alternate universe that you will be playing in and you will have to understand and play with the stipulations that universe brings along. In some cases universes will call for a particular social hierarchy (such as the jobs on a pirate ship or the class system in the Renaissance) and for these situations the mods will roll a dice (yes an actual dice) to assign jobs/classes. The idea is that things are always changing and that the characters have to adjust (or not adjust and maybe lose some marbles along the way) and that we're always playing fresh situations- so one month you may be the captain of a space ship and the next you may be a peasant scrounging for food in the Medieval England.

Roughly once a month we will post a vote for the upcoming world shift and you as players are welcome (and expected) to vote for and/or suggest the next AU that we play in.

Despite the movement of game time (which will be in "real time" according to our world, though the years will change depending on the AU) the movement of time in the original universe in which EPU exists will be moving much slower. Characters which are new to the game after the initial shift will start by walking into Verne Hall and suddenly find themselves in the AU that the game is currently playing in.

As we shift worlds, your characters will gain ghost knowledge of where they are. Despite the fact that you play, say, an art major, if we shift into a space opera AU you will have an innate/intangible understanding of how to perform your job as the ship's captain or as we move into a fairytale village you'll know where you live and that the strange elf in your house is in fact your husband, while still being entirely self-aware as well.

The use of NPCs will be greatly encouraged in this game as each world will come with a new set of people surrounding you. Ask your fellow players and mods to play NPCs for you or if you have an idea of a character you want to play briefly, then let the mods know.

Note: For some yet-unexplained reason the blackberries that the school issues to students and faculty members seem to work even in worlds where there are no towers, though only on the school network. This means that your characters can post to their IJs and text each other- but only each other. There won't be any phone calls from home, any emails from your girlfriend across campus, and your friend's page isn't going to show Joey-from-History-Class.

ARE YOU...?

Are you tired of Harry Potter, X-Men, and Twilight? Do you want to try a sampling of different time periods and genres? Maybe you just want something new or love throwing your characters into AUs as much as we do! Alternate U is a community that values creative and friendly players who are interested in character development and trying something new. (Please note AU is NOT a panfandom RPG and the other worlds that will be visited will be genre/archetypes.)

Nocturnality - A Victorian era Vampire Chronicles RPG

You've seen Interview with the Vampire, you've read The Vampire Lestat. But what if things had played out differently? One minute decision made on a whim can change a life or even the course of history.

Lestat de Lioncourt was instructed to live out one mortal lifetime. "To forstall it may be to lose everything," Marius had said. This Lestat did and this story you know. Clauda, Louis, Lestat- a charade of a family built upon secrets and destroyed in a single night full of flames. But what if Lestat- burnt and beaten- had sought solace somewhere other than in one who harbored him such resentment? What if he had been unable to raise his blackened and shriveled hand to knock upon the doors of the Théâtre des Vampires and instead slunk shamed and defeated into the Paris night where his plans of going to ground were once again interrupted by an immortal with pale eyes and kind hands. What would this change?

Well and alive, Claudia and Madeline move on. Lestat, reunited with Marius, travels to find a fledgling that has sought solace in one that hates him. Nicolas, thought to be dead, haunts Paris like a phantom. The year is 1862. Reunions, discoveries, a whole world on the cusp of change- what will you find here? Join Nocturnality and find out!

Nocturnality is an alternate universe plot-deviation game, meaning that the events of the game timeline deviate from the canon events of the series and head in a player decided direction.

Eidolon City [Aug. 16th, 2009|01:20 pm]

justforeverme

When you dream, what do you see?

Welcome to Eidolon City - a place of contrasts, where nothing is quite what it seems and everyone has a goal. For some, that goal is simple: survival. For others: to succeed. To climb over the rest and come out on top. To be the next to rule.

Do you have what it takes? Can you take up the challenge? Where will you place yourself, in the fight where the easy path isn't the path of 'good' and 'right' - in a city where two opposing mob families are locked in an eternal battle for supremacy and think nothing of crushing anyone and everyone who gets in their way, no matter who they are. Being on the side of right can prove to be very bad for your health.
~*~*~*~*~

Eidolon City is a new game that opened recently! We are looking for a range of players, but currently we're mostly looking for members of the two mob factions which form the basis of the game! We have a few, but at the moment, we've got more cops, so mafia people, we need you!! There are lots of players looking for connections with theirs, join today!

We're also looking for general cityfolk and have an active wanted list created by our players looking for in game connections, so it's easy to create characters who'll have an automatic in!!
