Who: Joe & OPEN.
Where: In the library.
When: Late evening, day four.
Rating: Low.
Status: Active

The day had been an “ordinary” one for Joe, he had met scarce others and most of the meetings hadn’t taught him much about the situation at hand; this house. He was happy to learn all of the other things from the various beings he spoke to, but after being here for four days, he was most interested in attempting to learn a little more about this mansion. This brought him to the library, for while Joe Black was a stranger to many things, he was aware of the knowledge the books held between their frail bindings. Certain that the information on this place in particular would be subtle if it existed, he simply browsed through the library, judging every book by its cover. Occasionally he would pull out volumes such as “Proper Letter Writing Etiquette” or “How to Prepare Your Home for Guests” and many other titles that were similar in context. Perhaps it would be wise to go to the supernatural books first, if they existed, but Joe figured if the answers were subtle then they might be in books as such as these.

He now sat at one of the tables in the library, browsing through the books, looking for any sort of information that might stand out against the rest. This act was strange for him, this searching, for he usually waited for answers to come to him; however, this seemed to be natural at the time and he embraced it. Hearing a noise at the door made him look up from his book to see who the intruder was.

It was the pirate captain, who had hit the lenght of the sword at his side against the door frame by accident. He looks up as he adjusted to be able to walk through the door and immediately because embarrassed that he was spotted being so graceful.

"Good evening, sir," he says walking foreword. "I see you had the same reason as I to be here," he continues as he motioned to the books in front of Joe. "Have you found anything interesting?"

Will was very interested in anything that Joe might have found since his own searches proved worthless.

"Good evening," Joe replied, not noticing the ungraceful moves of the pirate captain, for such things were beyond him still. The only awkwardness he was usually aware of was how uncomfortable he was in this body at times. Most times he was fluid and smooth in his actions, but there was a time two days prior where even something as simple as sitting felt uncomfortable and strange to him. Thankfully, he had now had enough practice in the action to be comfortable with it.

Glancing back down at the books, he closed the one he had just finished and looked back up at the young man in front of him. "I do not believe so, although I may be missing something." He had no trouble admitting that he could have missed a key factor, for it wasn't embarrassing to him; there wasn't a level of pride he had to strive for as a man. "Have you yourself found anything thus far?"

Will shakes his head, "No....well, besides the dead woman in the hall, that is." He says this as he continues to walk over to Joe. His walk casual in a normal stride.

When he gets close enough to examine the titles of the books, he raises an eyebrow. He considers saying something about the stupidity of looking for answers in etiquette books, but decides against it and turns his attention back to Joe and extends his hand.

"I don't think we have actually met. My name's Captain Will Turner."

Thankfully quite aware of human customs, Joe stood and extended his hand to meet the boy's. "My name is Joe Black," he replied along with a slow, but courteous nod. "I believe I saw you in the main room on my first night here, but not since then."

Although it may be hard to believe, Joe had missed the excitement and death the previous evening. Surely he was the one that took the soul of the dead one, but when one is takings thousands at any given point it is difficult to focus on one alone. He had been outdoors for most of the time during the murder; therefore the mention of a dead woman was most interesting. "Do you know who it was that died?" he asked, not giving himself completely away to being unaware of it happening. It perhaps showed that he had no personal connection to the idea of life, for he was not distraught by the news, only curious.

"Pleasure," he says shaking the man's hand. "And you did. I was the first to show up to the pointless gathering."

It wasn't entirely pointless, but he didn't get him home. That fact bothered Will greatly.

Will was a bit curious of this man. He seemed to show no shock or horror in the news as Will was expecting. He seemed....detached? Perhaps that was the word. Will found that most interesting.

"No. I had never seen her before. It's funny that none seemed to have seen or known her, but that's for the constable to figure out." He says taking back his hand.

"Yes, that meeting didn't hold much information, useful or otherwise," Joe agreed with Captain Turner. The only piece of information it seemed to give away, in Joe's mind, was that this place and the man himself was vindictive and dangerous in his own way. That man grinned that night as if it was all a game and the others in the house were pawns.

"The constable?" he asked, he wasn't aware that such a man was here. It was true, he had only spoken to few and the most notable thus far had been Louis, for he had learned so much about him. "I didn't realize there was a constable in this house; I wish him luck in his investigations." The idea of a policeman, or investigator didn’t bother Joe at a personal level, for the thought of that man figuring him out was far-fetched even in his untrained mind.

"We all wish him luck," he says with a nod. "If he finds anything of use it may get us home." Though Will's tone of voice proved doubtful of such a thing happening. Ichabod finding anything, not the returning home.

He moves to sit down across from Joe to get comfortable. "What manner of life do you come from that has you dressing so?" he asks motioning to Joe's attire.

Joe did not say anymore on the constable, for he truly had nothing else to say; he wasn't familiar with the man, his work, or much of his profession.

As the boy sat down across from him, Joe slid a stack of books off to the side, so it wouldn't obscure his view of the captain. The question Will proposed was a strange one to Joe, he hadn't paid much attention to his suit for it simply belonged the body before him, he looked down to take it in. There was not much of an answer he could give, for by this point he was well aware that timelines of the world seemed to cross here and he wasn't sure if Will was asking of that in comparison to himself or perhaps that this suit signified a profession he was very much unaware of. "How do you mean, sir?" he asked calmly, looking to narrow it down so he could give a satisfactory answer.
