Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Characters: Tracey Davis & Theodore Nott
Setting: January 17, 2000 - Late Thursday Afternoon - Diagon Alley
Summary: A run in.
Progress: In progress

Tracey was in a particularly pleasant mood today despite the customary English weather. She'd clocked out of work around five o'clock and had made plans to do some shopping on the way home. There was a sale at Willow Wispin's Wizarding Wardrobe this week and there was a pair of Italian import heals she'd been eyeing for awhile now. She'd decided somewhere during lunch that she was ready to indulge her material wants.

After paying for her new footwear and the new outfit she just had to buy to wear the heels with, it was only natural that she leave the shoppe. As she did so, however, she found herself caught in a collision with another person who was obviously walking a little too close to the exit.

With an uncharacteristic 'oof' and an awkward stumble, Tracey Davis immediately offered a, "Pardon me." The fact that Tracey was in the middle of putting on her gloves and not paying attention to where she was going seemed to warrant some admittance of fault. Glancing up to get a necessary look at the passerby seemed to entice a drop of her immediate train of polite thought. A grin tugged at her lips and she added, "Well if it isn't Theodore Nott."

Theodore had been completely immeresed in the book he had just purchased. Not that he had been reading it, he had been looking at the interesting scrollwork that covered the front and sides of the ancient tome.

Completely lost to the outside world, he nearly dropped his precious treasure when he collided with another person. Fighting back a sharp retort at the other persons foolishness, he looked up with a hateful glare on his face.

"Tracey." he said with a frown. Of all the people he had to run into, it had to be her. On the day when he had been already nursing a headache. Shrinking the book with a quick spell, he stowed it in the pocket of his cloak and turned to stare at her. "Fancy meeting you here." he said with a pointed sigh.

"Fancy that indeed," she retorted with a sardonic tone. She'd immediately caught on to Theodore's frown and general disinterest in their encounter and really she hadn't expected otherwise. They'd not actually seen or spoken in person since their little Christmas bash which obviously left them on a sour note. A note she was entirely capable of hitting if he was still insisting on holding it himself.

Sure they'd had a few journal interactions since, but they'd all been labeled awkward and rather pointless. They never really said much of anything important or relevant to anything that had happened. And really, Tracey preferred it that way. It was an irritating situation for the most part and ignoring it seemed to be key to survival.

As she went to put on her remaining glove she asked, "So, how have things been?" Her tone wasn't a forced cheeriness, as might have been the case with anyone else. Instead it was at tone that one delivered to a passing acquaintance when not entirely interested in the answer. It was the least she could do to remain civil in a public place - walking away didn't seem appropriate.

Theodore knew neither of them were in the mood for a pleasant encounter and he wished that just for once they could get along. He had been quite bored recently and a pleasant conversation would be welcome. Somehow, he knew that it wasn't going to happen with her.

"I have been.." he considered the merits of lying and pretending like everything was great but he actually had missed her stimulating company, just a bit.

"A bit bored." he finished not quite wanting to admit to loneliness. He had taken to notions of being nice to the mudbloods in the journals and that quite scared him.

"How have you been?" he asked, his green eyes looking her over. His expression was masked and guarded.

Bored? For some reason she didn't seem surprised. It seemed Theodore had a knack for it. Course, the fact that he shared it out right with her was certainly interesting.

Tracey offered a shrug in reply as though considering how exactly she'd reply herself. The option of lying was on the tip of her tongue. "Busy," she finally decided with a shake of her head as if her brain didn't agree with her mouth's decision. "Would you believe my mother got me a job at the Witch Weekly offices in town?" She rolled her eyes at the thought, "She did it out of spite of course, but....it's been occupying most of my time."
