Family Force 5 – Dance or Die
“Dance with me,” America said in that boyish voice of his. England looked down at the hand that was reaching out to him, waiting to be taken hold of. England wasn't much of a good dancer, but he took the hand offered to him anyways. When he placed his hand in America's, America gripped onto it tightly and pulled him close. England was taken aback by the closeness, but when America started swaying to the slow beat of the song, he was pulled along with him.
England was staring at his feet, hoping he wasn't messing up horribly. America was then laughing at him, telling him not to worry, that he was a good dancer. England knew that America was lying, but it was such a nice lie that England let himself believe in it. He let his head rest on America's shoulder, as he danced along with him, content with the gentle motions of America's movements.
Katy Perry – Hot N Cold
England could never make up his whenever it came to America, and that just infuriated him to no end. He tried to be okay with the relationship that they had, but it would never be as close as it once was. He still had love in his heart for America, even when he made stupid decisions. He liked the way America smiled at him, positively beaming at him with adoration, but England still remembered the cold looks he once had gotten. It hurt him at times, to be in love with the other nation, he only wished it would go back to the way it was.
Franz Ferdinand – Take Me Out
China was surprised when Russia had asked him out to dinner. He was standing in front of him, a smile on his face and a bundle of sunflowers stretched out towards him. China didn't know what to say besides yes, even though a part of his brain was telling him to say no, he knew how insane Russia had become over the years.
China ignored that voice and couldn't help but smile when Russia did the same for him, his smile was the most amazing China had ever seen. As Russia babbled to him about all the great places they would go, China told him that he was going to get ready, walking back into his house, knowing that Russia wasn't to far behind.
Jonathan Coulton – The Presidents
America could hardly believe it, he now had forty-four presidents in his short history. He tried not to play favorites with them, it was like playing favorites with ones children, but America couldn't help it. The last president was kind of a dolt, making some of the other nations lose some of the respect for him that had built up over the years. He still remembers, out of all the presidents, Lincoln the most. He remembered feeling like he was being torn apart during the Civil War, but Lincoln had helped bring him back together again. George Washington was always nice to him as well, if he could recall.
America just hoped that the next one would be better than the last.
Rihanna - Disturbia
Lithuania couldn't help but be a little disturbed by Russia, every one else was so you couldn't really fault him. He feared Russia at times, especially when he got that look in his eyes that meant trouble. The only thing was that Lithuania had seen Russia at his most vulnerable, when he first started to slide into his madness. Lithuania remembered the tears he saw Russia shed for the dead czar and his family, he had looked absolutely torn with grief.
That was the reason why Lithuania felt disturbed by Russia, but drawn to him as well. He was just a softy at heart, he couldn't stand it when others cried.
Cake – You Turn the Screws
“You always have to change everything, don't you,” England said to him. America turned from his reading to look at the other nation, who didn't look like he had slept for ages. He felt like he was being cornered, he didn't even know when England had come to his house.
“I guess I do,” America said. He hopped that he wasn't saying the wrong thing, due to the look England was giving him.
England sighed then, turning his back to him.
“Some times you got to stop playing the hero, let someone else change the world.”
Dar Williams – Beautiful Enemy
Russia watched the way America moved. He had started to become fascinated by the other nation recently, he couldn't help himself from staring at him, concentrating on seeing something beyond the skin. It became almost an obsession, this constant staring. Sometimes Russia wondered if America noticed him staring, if he did he must have chosen to ignore it for more pressing matters.
Russia liked beautiful things and America was one of the most beautiful things Russia had ever seen, besides Sunflowers and China of course. Russia knew that America was an enemy, even as they worked together in this war. He knew something would break soon, America must have known it too. America was a beautiful enemy, and Russia couldn't help himself from wanting him.
The White Stripes – Seven Nation Army
Everyone was fighting, trying to win this war. The Allied Forces and Axis Powers, trying to stay on step of each other in everything they did. The war was tough for everyone, enemy and friend alike. Their people were crying out for justice, or at least something similar to it. All sides had things to lose, and even things to gain, from loosing. It just made them fight harder against each other, always wanting to be the one on the top because being on the bottom was a lonely place.
The Killers – When You Were Young
Everything was far simpler for America when he was just a tiny nation, beginning to grow. England was always there to protect him, a hero to look up to, someone he had wanted to grow up to be just like someday. When he grew older, America soon learned that things were never simple for a nation, small or large it didn't matter. Sometimes America would dream of being young again, of rested in England's lap as he told him a bedtime story. Things would never be that simple again, but even nations dream when they sleep.
The Beatles – All My Loving
America liked being able to do nice things, though England didn't always appreciate what he did. While he could make England frustrated beyond belief when he put a wedding dress on and jumping into his arms. But America loved those moments of joy when England would smile at him as he gifted him with roses and chocolates.
