Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Lisa Turpin and Roger Davies
When: Late morning/early afternoon
Where: Roger's flat
What: Lisa promised to check up on Roger.

Yesterday she had thought about going to work despite being off today. However, she was glad that she was glad that she didn't. Lisa was worried about her friend, especially after the owl exchange with Melinda. The least she could do was check up on Roger, see if he was okay. If she had been in such a situation, she probably would be the same way. Lisa knew that she needn't worry about bringing anything with her. Melinda had said she left potions in the cabinet. She hoped she wouldn't have to use any.

It took only a couple of minutes to get to Roger's flat from hers. "Roger?" Lisa said loudly to the door as she knocked. "Roger, let me in, please!" She didn't know if he would come to the door or not. Lisa would give him a couple of minutes. If he didn't answer, she'd use her wand to get in.

It was a good thing Roger had drunken as much as he had, or he could have ended up actually remembering what had happened the night before. Melinda had left early that morning in her way to work, leaving Roger asleep, but alive in bed. He'd had a rather disturbing night as images of angry crowds attacking him clouded his dreams.

If it wasn't for the fact that the paparazzi wasn't allowed on the property, and building security was keeping them at bay, Roger was certain there would have been plenty of other knocks on the door. As it was, this was the very first of the morning and Roger had no intention on answering the door. He groaned however as he heard the familiar voice though the door. Knowing Lisa she'd force herself in, and although he didn't want her to see him like this, Roger slid out of bed. He headed toward the front door, dressed only in a pair of boxes, his hair mused and a rather ragged look on his usually handsome face. He rubbed his face to get out the sleep out of his head and then his temples to end the pounding headache. Roger pulled the door open though, not all the way, just so she could see his face, "Morning luv."

Lisa didn't have to wait too long for the door to open. Although he didn't open it all the way, it was good to see him. "Morning, Roger. How are you feeling?" She hoped he was doing a little better than yesterday, he had at least slept from what she could tell and that was better than spending the whole night drinking. Drinking was not going to solve anything and that was part of the reason she had come, to keep him from drinking too much.

"Going to let me in?" His response to that question wasn't going to matter to her, she was going to go in whether he liked it or not. Lisa could take him, even if she was shorter and didn't have Quidditch muscles like him.

Roger placed his foot just behind the door should Lisa decide she want inside the flat. She looked beautiful, even this early in the morning, and it wouldn't do for her to see the rest of him in the state he was in. He leaned his head against the door frame and gave her a weak smile. It was all he could really manage the morning after.

"I'm doing quite well, thank you. Surprised to see you visiting, though quite happy to see your lovely face," Roger said flashing her another smile. Maybe he could get her to go away? He shook his head at her question. "You don't want to come in. Surely you've got a busy day ahead of you."

She looked at him suspiciously. Lisa doubted that he really was. "Really? Good to hear. And see since I am looking at you" Lisa smiled back. "Oh, Melinda didn't tell you that I'd be stopping by? Doesn't matter. I enjoy being a surprise."

Lisa folded her arms across her chest. "I don't have anywhere to be and nothing to do today." She was there to be there for him. Hannah was taken care of, as was normal for Mondays, by her sister-in-law and she didn't have to work. There was absolutely nothing for Lisa to do other than being there. "Why not? Is your flat a horrendous mess? I've got a three year and have seen worse." It was true she had seen worse, but she got the feeling that it had nothing to do with his flat.

Roger offered her another hopeful smile, part of him still hoping that she'd believe him. "Oh? Melinda?" Roger's brows furrowed, Melinda had been there? Oh right, he remembered. Ruddy Melinda and her meddling. "No she didn't say anything, why were you talking to Melinda?"

Sighing, Roger rolled his eyes and moved out of the way of the door. "Fine," he said with a frustrated sigh. If she wasn't going to take no for an answer, then he supposed he may as well let her in. If she took offence, then maybe she'd just leave. "Want a drink?" he asked as he bounded for the liquor cabinet, intent of curing the hangover with a nice glass of firewhiskey.

"I talked to her because she responded to the owl I sent you last night. Clearly, you were unable to respond yourself." Lisa told him. "Wish I had brought something, but she told me I didn't need to."

Lisa walked through the door, glad that it had gone over well and she didn't have use her wand. Though that sigh... made it seem like he didn't want her to be there. It didn't matter, she wasn't about to go anywhere any time soon. At the mention of a drink, she frowned. "Bit early for that? No, you go on ahead." Might as well let him drink now. Since he was already bothered, at least that was her impression, that she was here, taking the drinks away now probably was not the best action for her to take.

"What owl?" Roger asked as he popped up from behind the bar with the bottle. "It's after seven, yeah?" Roger asked as he placed two glasses on top of the very expensive bar he had set up in the corner of the very large living room, right in front of his liquor cabinet. He poured firewhiskey in one glass and water into the other.

"Then it's not too early." He said in an answer to her question as he walked back over, wishing he was wearing more than just the ruddy boxers as his feet were bloody cold on the tiled floor. It wasn't enough to get him bothered about changing though, especially as Lisa hadn't even noticed. He handed her a glass and took a drink from the other. "Relax, it's water." he said, flopping down on the sofa and taking a sip of his drink. "See. Everything's great."

"You really were drunk if you don't remember an owl coming. Especially since I sent it a few times." Lisa said as she looked on his table to see if her letter was there. It was. "This right here is what I sent." She rolled her eyes. "Yes, its after seven. It's always after seven somewhere."

Lisa went and sat on the sofa. She had noticed his appearance, but didn't say anything. It didn't bother her and it wasn't her place to tell him that he should put on more clothes. Besides, he was good to look at. Lisa stared at the glass he had handed her. "Thank you," she responded, hearing that it was water. "Right."

"There were no owls," Roger said shaking his head, as if he were the expert on the topic. Really? Could he possibly have been so far gone that he didn't remember owls flying in and out of his flat. He looked at the letter and shook his head. "Must have planted it," he added with a nod.

"I meant it's after seven in the morning," Roger clarified, giving Lisa a cheeky grin as he took another grin and then twisted his body on the sofa so he was looking at her. Exactly what she wanted from him, he still didn't understand. "It is." Roger confirmed as he took yet another sip, the whiskey burning a trail down his throat. Ah brilliant. "I can manage."

Lisa shook her head. "I did not plant it. I most definitely owled them last night. How else would I know that Melinda was here and that you have potions in the cabinet?" Yesterday must have been really bad. Poor Roger.

"I know it is. But that's the kind of logic that you could use." Lisa smirked. At least he wasn't mopey or anything like that, not that it would matter, she still would have stayed. "Not last night, you couldn't. You would have gotten a visit from me so much sooner if Melinda hadn't been here." She took a couple of sips from her water. "So you plan to drink all week? Are you ready for the match this weekend?" Lisa wondered if she should have brought up Quidditch, but it was too late now.

No Roger wasn't mopey. He wasn't mopey because it was Lisa, and as much as he wanted to lie in bed all day and drink, he couldn't do that in front of Lisa. How else was he going to convince her to go out with him if she thought he acted like a bird?

Roger shook his head. "I could last night. Melinda exaggerates," he muttered softly staring down at his whiskey before taking another sip. And then she went and mentioned Quidditch. He'd been doing a ruddy good job up until now pushing all thoughts of quidditch out of his mind. He lifted the glass to his lips and downed the rest. "I'll be on the pitch today. I'll be ready for Saturday," he said, his tone a little harsher than he would have liked as he stood and walked over to the bar, refilled the glass, poured himself another glass and grabbed the bottle. He took a sip from the glass, walked over to the sofa, plopped back down and proceeded to take a gulp from the bottle instead. "Not that it matters."

She never would have thought Roger acted like a bird if all he did was drink and lie in bed. Of course, she didn't know that he wanted to ask out either.

Lisa didn't believe a word of it. "You didn't even know I sent an owl. That is not managing." This was a problem and she didn't know how to say that to him. Lisa was sorry she brought up Quidditch. She didn't say anything until he came back to the sofa. "No, you are not going to the pitch today." He was drinking and that could not go over well with practicing later on today. To her, it seemed like he had ever intention of spending the whole day drinking. Lisa was not about to let him leave. "Roger, don't talk like that."

"I'll be fine," Roger said, shaking his head. He'd flown whilst not entirely sober in the past and he could very well do it again. He drained the gass he'd filled and set that on the coffee table, deciding he really didn't wan to be bothered with the glass any longer. He rested his head on the back of the sofa and looked over at Lisa. "Why not talk like that? Toke made it bloody clear I've ruined our chances for the finals, and the last few games have been a right disaster," Roger said as he took another sip from the bottle. He'd woken up with a hangover, but was really doing quite well at getting back to a drunken state. Frankly, thinking clearly was highly overrated.

"I'm not going to let you go," Lisa told him while shaking her head. Oh great, now he was going to drink directly from the bottle. "You are not leaving this flat today." Lisa sighed. "You are only one person, Roger. What in Merlin's name was your Keeper doing throughout the match? He's the one who ruined your chances, not you. I thought this was a team sport and yet you are the one being punished for it all." It was hard watching him drink. She'd let him finish this bottle off, but the next one she was going to take away from him.

"Yeah? How exactly do you plan on stopping me?" Roger asked, giving her what he hoped was a flirty smile. As she persisted with the Quidditch line, Roger sighed and ran his fingers thorough his short hair, as he took another swig from the bottle. "It's not just the Keerper, Lis. I'm responsible for the actions of the team, and besides as Chasers its our job to keep the Quaffle from ending up in that side of the pitch. In all reality, if your Chasers are worth their salt, a Keeper shouldn't need to make more than two or three saves a game. The fact that he had to work so much during the game was our fault, mine above all."

"Any possible way that I can. Magic if I really have to, which I don't want to do." Lisa told him. "Still doesn't seem right." She was going to drop the subject of Quidditch, even though she could probably come up up with lots of different reasons why it shouldn't be his fault alone despite being Captain. Maybe if she did that, find something else to talk about, he'd drink a little less. Lisa had no idea what to talk about. When they went out drinking it was hardly a problem, but this situation was different. "So how's your drink? Taste better in the bottle than a glass?"

"I know," Roger said, frowning deeply at Lisa's words. He wished he could figure out a way to resolve this, but things seemed just a bit too complicated for him. His agent was likely already on it, but it was still early days. He took another drink from the bottle and glanced over at Lisa again. "Quite good, cheers. Want some?" he asked, offering the bottle. Part of him wished she'd just join him, would be loads better than getting her to stare at him like that. Besides, she'd probably find him more entertaining like that; he surely wasn't good company right now and that was the main reason Roger hadn't wanted her to come in.

Lisa looked between him and the bottle. She couldn't outright refuse him, but she didn't think that her drinking would help much. What the hell. She wasn't picking up her daughter until later that day so whatever she drank now should be out of her system by then. "Why not?" Lisa said as she took the bottle from him. It had been a while since Lisa had firewhiskey and it burned the back of her throat, causing her to cough. "It is good."

Roger grinned widely as Lisa agreed with him. Handing the bottle over, Roger scooted in closer to Lisa. "See. There's a reason I drink it," Roger said with a chuckle as he took a the bottle back for another drink. "You know, Lis, it's not like I'm drunk," he said in an attempt to clarify. Why exactly he felt the need to clarify was rather beyond him.

Lisa grinned back. "Because its good?" Maybe this wasn't going to be so bad afterall, not that she really thought it'd be bad or anything. "I know, Roger." He wasn't drunk now, but he might be later. "I can see that for myself at the moment." Lisa wanted another drink and she didn't want to keep swapping the bottle back and forth. She picked up the glass Roger had used, since hers still had water, and took the bottle back from him to pour it in the glass before handing the bottle back to him.

Roger smiled again, rather pleased that Lisa was joining him, and perhaps just a little bit happy that she was there. Although he didn't want to talk about Quidditch, he did like having Lisa around, most of the time anyway. Once Lisa poured herself the glass, Roger leaned back and took another sip. "So, babe, how's Hannah?" There, a much happier topic.

Lisa laughed. Hannah was a topic she could always talk about. Hannah was the only good thing to come out of Lisa's short lived marriage to Anthony. "Hannah is just a delight. Still talks about her birthday and she can't wait for her next one. She's with my sister-in-law today so she can play with her cousins."

Roger drank some more from the bottle as he looked ovver at Lisa. She looked quite happy to be talking about her daughter, and he didn't have to worry about her discussing his rather large mess. "Still?" he asked, "wasn't that weeks ago?" he asked, laughing as he shook hie head. "Shame birthdays don't pass more frequently when we're younger and slower when we're older." Taking another swig of the nearly empty bottle.

"It was weeks ago. Nearly a month." Lisa told him. "I think she was more excited that she got two parties and all those presents. I suppose I should be asking the boys to plan a party for her next year too." Lisa smiled and took a drink from her glass. "It is a shame. I know Hannah would love it if she did have more frequent birthdays. I'd love it too. Although, it already seems like she's growing up way too fast."

"You could give her half birthdays, but I think you may just end up spoiling her loads," Roger said with a chuckle. "But I think they rather enjoyed planning it." He took another swig from the bottle, emptying it. He placed it on the table. "Do you want something else?" he asked as he stood and headed for the bar again. "I have other types."
