A Girl on a Misson....
Who: Jessica/Niki, Trevor, and Eventually DL
When: After Jessica and Peri pick up Lucy and Trevor
Where: NYC, Baby - starting off at an apartment
What: A girl on a mission

Linderman had instructed Jessica to an apartment in the heart of the Financial District of New York City. From the window, Jessica could see the water and she just grinned at the scene. Seeing her reflection in the glass, her focus fell on her dear sister Niki, who had a pleading look as she "banged" on the glass from the other side.

"I'm doing this for us, you know," Jessica said, quietly.

"You don't even know what you're doing!" Niki cried. "This is MY life you're meddling with!"

"YOUR life, Niki? Look at what you did your YOUR life." Jessica walked a little up the length of the window. "Micah needs me. I'm going to give him a life you can't provide."

"That's not true. I can. But no one's giving me a chance to!"

"It's because you already had the chance." Jessica sighed, closing the curtains and turning back towards the room, deciding to ignore Niki. She was always there, just like she had always been with Niki, but Jessica was the stronger one. Always was. "Trevor, are you ready yet?" she called, moving towards her bag and getting out her gun. She double checked the magazines, made sure she had some handy. "We've got business to attend to."

Trevor hadn't planned on setting foot in New York any time soon, if ever again in his lifetime. Yet here he was, back in a city that held mostly bad memories. Not like he'd had a choice, after the showdown in Elko, Nevada. He'd initially pegged the redhead and her blonde companion as two unstable chicks who'd likely escaped from a loony bin. He still had a hard time making sense of the events that'd transpired outside the greasy spoon. Hell, none of this made much, if any, sense. For whatever reason, they were providing him with a job opportunity. The kidnapping and drugging prior to the diner run-in had been overkill, in his opinion. Guess the 'boss man' didn't believe in good old fashioned job interviews. For now Trevor was willing to shrug it off, but that didn't mean he wouldn't pester this Jessica broad with a whole bunch of questions about the true nature of whatever profession he'd been recruited into. Not like he had much to lose and the promise of a hefty paycheck had been enticing. Didn't mean he'd trust any of them blindly and the usual paranoia likely would emerge.

The flight to New York's JFK airport hadn't been all that eventful. In his weakened state, he'd dozed off more than a few times and glared at anyone who looked upon his filthy clothes with disgust. Adding to his exhaustion: the beating he'd embarrassingly taken back in Nevada and the lingering effects of the drugs still in his system. When they finally reached their destination, the four split into two groups. Peri and Lucy headed off on their own, but not before Trevor pulled the redhead aside and warned her against laying a hand on Lucy. Shortly after, he let Jessica take the lead since he had no clue what the duo's plans were.

That's how he wound up in the not too shabby apartment; better than anything he could ever afford. After he took a much needed shower, Trevor changed into the clean clothes the blonde supplied. During this task, he heard Jessica's muffled voice through the closed door. Shoulders were shrugged as he assumed it'd been a business call. When she addressed him, Trevor called out: "Yeah, give me a few."

Moments later, he emerged from the bathroom - running a hand through his still damp hair. A curious glance went to his new associate, head tilted. "Thought I heard ya talkin' to someone else..." Eyes fell to the gun in her hand briefly before resuming eye contact, nerves starting to kick up slightly as this mystery 'job' neared closer. "Where we headed or you still gonna keep me in the dark..." He paused and motioned to the weapon, grin sliding into place on his lips. "... and do I get one of those too?"

Jessica lowered the gun after testing its aim and looked at him when he had mentioned her talking to herself. "Yeah, I was just making last minute arrangements is all," she told him. "Not that I have to explain myself - let's make that rule number one." She smirked as she tucked away the gun into the back of her pants.

"We're heading to a little apartment complex in the Meat Packing District," she told him. "We're just wrapping up one of Mr. Linderman's deals, is all." She dug around in a suitcase already waiting for them in the room. There had been a heavy padlock on it - and no key. Not that it mattered. The lock was torn.

She pulled out another gun and tossed it to Trevor. "Here. Maybe if you prove yourself, you'll get the bullets to go along with it."

With a raised eyebrow and tilted head, Trevor took in the sight of Jessica with weapon in hand. Hot. When she spoke, he kept on staring for a moment - oblivious to the first of her words, before lifting his gaze and giving her his full attention. A grin played across his lips when he finally did reply. "Doesn't mean I won't ask questions." If she thought he'd trot after her quietly, well she didn't know who she was dealing with.

Shoulders were shrugged at the revelation of their destination, followed by a nod. He wouldn't ask her to elaborate on the job, not yet anyway. The gun led him to believe that this wouldn't be a simple transfer of information or cash. Sure, the risk of one (or both) of them getting injured flashed through his mind, but from the look of things - Jessica could handle herself. Gaze fell to the suitcase as she rummaged through it, eyes going wide for a moment when he glimpsed the lock. Nah, she couldn't have done that with her bare hands... Though she had been pretty strong back in Nevada, unless the drugs had led him to imagine that incident.

Taking care not to stare too long, Trevor leaned back against the dresser in the room with arms folded across his chest. That grin resurfaced again when she fished another gun from the suitcase and threw it his way. After catching it, he turned the metal over in his hands with grin growing wider. Then she had to go and tell him that it wasn't loaded. Expression fell, though tone would hopefully show her that he was game. "I'll prove myself... don't you worry about that."

The blond looked over at him. She wasn't sure what this guy was made of but it couldn't be much of anything to impress her. However, Linderman wanted him with her at the very least. So there must be some sort of promise in him. Plus, Jessica wanted to fulfill the deal she had made with Linderman.

"Well, the only way to prove yourself to me is to stick close and don't do anything stupid." She moved towards the door. "And oh, yeah, let me do all the talking. Not that I do much in the talking department." She gave a grin before exiting the room.

No, she wasn't planning on making this a clean payback. With Jessica, there as no such thing.

It was obvious that she felt annoyed or put upon to have to work with him. While Trevor was used to that sort of reaction from most women, he did want to prove himself worthy to Jessica and in turn maybe she'd put in a good word when speaking to the Boss again. He'd been recruited for some reason, unless they thought of him as a disposable hired goon. Would they have really gone through so much trouble to 'employ' him if that were the case?

He passed the weapon from one hand to the other a few times before concealing it in his pocket. Walking around the streets of New York with a gun, loaded or not, would only land them in jail - or worse. Eyes lifted to meet Jessica's, a smirk playing across his features. "Sticking close sounds good to me." A moment later he took steps to follow her out of the apartment. "You're gonna do all the talkin' and get the loaded piece? So... what do you need me for then?" He started to laugh, as a means to suppress that nagging feeling of unease seeping into his head. If he were lucky, the sound would block out the whispering soon to follow.

Jessica glanced over at him as they made their way to the stairs to descend down the couple of flights. Soon, they were out in the New York air, the towering buildings immediately shading them from the sun. She looked up, closing her eyes a bit, before looking back at Trevor.

"I don't know; what CAN I expect from you?" she asked, looking him up and down. "Linderman seems to think you've got potential of some kind. I haven't seen it, but we're going to give you the opportunity to show me. why, do you need something to make you feel... manly? Cold metal against the skin always seems to turn me on." She grinned wickedly.

This kid better give her something good otherwise, he might just have to join the people they were about to meet.

Trevor followed closely behind Jessica as they exited the building, expression far more confident than he actually felt. Once outside, he stopped and took in a deep breath of that good old city air. Alright, so maybe he missed this place just a little.

He could tell that she was studying him and lifted his gaze to meet hers. While considering her question, Trevor looked her over in return and couldn't help but feel distracted for a moment. Expression grew a bit more serious when he finally spoke. "I'll do whatever you need me to do." Even if he balked later on, there was a certain thrill at the prospect of her ordering him around. "Don't suppose you'll fill me in on this Linderman guy?" Did she know why he'd been locked up and drugged? For anyone to see 'potential' in him truly boggled the mind and so he'd go to great lengths to prove himself worthy.

Lips tugged up into a smirk at the mental imagery caused by her last comment. "Don't need a loaded gun, but if you wanna play like that... I'm game." He couldn't help but try, although it was doubtful that she'd give him a second thought. Before he could throw out another line, a voice hissed in his ear. Don't trust her. One hand went to cover his right ear instinctively, while eyes darted around wildly. "Did you hear that?" How desperately he wanted her to answer yes to that question...

He didn't need a gun? Jessica smirked, wondering if he was just being overconfident or if this awkward male really did know what he was doing. She glanced over her shoulder as they walked. "Mr. Linderman likes to keep to himself. If he didn't volunteer information to you then there's a reason." Linderman hadn't exactly divulged information about this joker, either. But she didn't question it. Too much was at stake and anyway, she was here to have a little fun.

They walked on when Trevor suddenly asked if she had heard anything. "Uh, no," she stated. She looked around, her hand already snaking towards the gun, in case they were being followed. "I don't see or hear anything." She turned to him, a brow lifted. "Don't get paranoid on me now otherwise you're useless to me already."
