Here There Be - OOC Community

Just wanted to do this officially so it's up and out there, but we are closing the game due to general inactivity/lack of interest. Thank you for your interest and applications, and best of luck to all of you.

Hey guys! New and Shiny here by the name of Jon! Nice to meet y'all! I guess I should tell you a little about myself? I'm 22, graduating college in December (freaking out about it, too), psych major. Other than that, there's really not much to say, so let's get to my character! I've got for you Alec Maxwells. He's 16, a fire mage, and will be accepted to the magic portion of the school soon. As for right now, he just lives in a small, no-name (only because I haven't thought of a name for it) village near-ish by. He's...well, he's quite a bit timid (read: more timid than a wild rabbit. Unless someone's attacking him or his friends. Then he's all "Imma beat yo ass!") and currently works as a housemaid for his family (burned down his family's fields so they don't trust him to do anything else), he's good-ish at fighting with two knives, and doesn't currently have a Focus (yet!). He's terrified of his power (even though he wants to learn to control it) and, ironically, fear is what activates the flame. So, I dunno. Friends for him for when he finally gets to the school? Or bullies? Or people who take advantage of his timid nature? Anything?! Please?! Anyways, nice meeting y'all and if you ever need me, my contact info is in the contact post!

Just wanted to give everyone a heads-up that in a couple of weeks we'll be holding an interest check. Failure to sign into that within a week of it being posted will result in removal from the game. After all, what's the point in joining if you aren't going to play, amirite?

The month following that we'll be holding activity checks to ensure you are meeting the minimal activity requirements.

I also wanted to point out that each Thursday, the weather forecast for the week and any events of note will be posted in the IC community. You can consider these prompts, or things to react to if you're feeling a little blah and need some sort of inspiration. If there's something relevant to your character(s) you'd like added to this, feel free to leave a note in the drop box, or contact us through the mod email.

Once we get a few more bodies and get rolling, we'll be introducing deeper plot elements leading to the first game-wide plot arc.

Hey all! I'm Geo, new here, and I'm bringing one character to the game at the moment.

His name is Jeralt Lizotte (bard) and he's also a black dragon shifter (oooh, acid!). He is 105 or so (looking rather youthful for his age still) and has been traveling for decades, sometimes on the continent, and sometimes elsewhere. Jeralt doesn't stay put in one location and after 5 or so years, tends to vacate a region for a few decades at the least. Others do not know the fact he is a dragon shifter (though I'm open to plotting exceptions or coincidences) and he keeps a rather private life. He backed the Necromancer and swiftly left the continent after the mage’s fall for a time (close to 20 years), so he's been back for around three years and has missed some things. Right now, he's visiting out of curiosity due to recent events and got a bit bored in the farming villages.

Jeralt's rather flippant and I suppose you could say even vulgar and chaotic at his worst. At his best, I’d say he is a welcome addition to any questing party! While he’s a jack-of-all-trades by now, he also doesn't mind taking up occupations for a number of years. It just so happens he got the knack for the bard's life now as it keeps things a bit more exciting than usual. Anyway, enough rambling about him - the app is on the journal.

So Nate and I were talking the other day and we've opted to add a question to the application regarding what is publicly known about the character and what isn't. Given the way the game is set up, just because someone is listed as a necromancer or a dragon shifter on the cast list doesn't mean that everyone and their cousin is going to know that -- especially in the cases of dragon shifters or necromancers.

Those of you who've already been accepted, if you could go ahead and stick somewhere in your profile, or the application, or even on your contact post what is publicly known about your character and what is selectively known or not known at all, that'd be great. That way we avoid the awkward "um, your character wouldn't actually know that" things. ;)

Hello! I'm going to make this as quick and coherent as I can, as it's five in the morning. I'm Tea, and right now I have two characters (and am resisting an idea for another, haha).

First is Fiammetta Eldon (draconica), a red dragon shifter. She's 90, claims to be somewhere around 23/24, and has spent a lot of time traveling, going from place to place and tutoring in various languages. She's something of a genius, and is currently working for the Palaris family, which freaks her out a little bit, but she's dealing. Why? Because 90 years ago she was born as Fiona Palaris, and she couldn't resist the chance to be a part of the family again, even in a secret capacity. (And if anyone is looking to pick up a noble character I will love you forever if you choose her family.) She's a bit hot-headed, very passionate, and is a generally friendly person though cautious about letting people too close because of the way dragon shifters are regarded.

Second is Bran Hillson, a wind mage. He's 49, former Navy, and has spent the past twenty-five years roaming around, mostly protecting traveling parties/caravans and occasionally going on longer sea voyages as a sort of soldier-for-hire. He's calm and a tad on the introspective side, but enjoys good company and conversation. He's going to be teaching at the academy, and he remembers what it was like to be accepted in society, so is cautiously hopeful things will settle back more like the way they used to be.

I'd love plots for both of them; I'm good with planning things or just shoving characters together and seeing what happens, so don't be afraid to poke at me with any ideas you might have! I promise I'm friendly and more than happy to work lines out.

Hello, hello!

So after some discussion, we have decided that we will open no later than this Friday, even if we're just starting off with the cast we have now. If we manage to get a total of twelve characters before then, we'll start sooner, but definitely no later than Friday. (Which of course means that posts can start going up Thursday night because hey, it's midnight somewhere >:D )

I feel rather nervous, being the first to poke my head into this community and all, but I'm just so excited to be a part of this game that I couldn't wait! :D

Anyway, hello to all! My name is Varali (people usually shorten that to Var or Vari or Vali, whichever you prefer), and I'll be bringing in a former noblewoman by the name of Velika Linden. However, she is now simply the town apothecary, having fled her land after an unfortunate incident, to put it lightly.

The rest of her backstory is here, should you wish to peruse it. :3

Velika is a willful, strong woman, with a dry smile and a strict sense of conduct. She has a sharp tongue and is not afraid to loosen it on people she thinks are foolish or evil, but otherwise, she has a heart of gold. Her intimidating and imposing nature may take some getting used to, but beneath the veneer of strength is a good friend.

I'm really looking forward to tossing her at everyone and to getting to know you all! :D
