12:31 am - A question for you guys :)
There's not many posts in this comm. And I had a question flittering around my head - and it's a fairly common one, I dare say you've probably answered it before, but I want to know. I'm incredibly curious.

Who is your favourite Hellblazer writer, and why?

To be fair, I will be answering the question below the cut (partly 'cause I tend to ramble, and partly to save your flist from a wall of text). Er, there could be vague spoilers since I don't know if you guys have read as much as me (I've read pretty much everything, excepting a few gaps and uncollected issues). What is written below is just my personal opinion, and you're more than welcome to disagree and whatnot.

And my answer is... )

So that's what I think. What about you guys? The floor's yours, and I'd really like to hear what you've got to say.

08:35 pm - Another Story
And *gasp* it's canon this time!

*

Title: Beggars Can't Be Choosers
Author: [info]jazzymegster
Summary: John's a bastard. But we knew that anyway.
Rating: PG for language.

Disclaimer: I don't own John Constantine or Hellblazer. DC Comics and Alan Moore do.

Notes: Inspired by a repeat trip with college to Liverpool and One Last Love Song by Warren Ellis. The title's lame, I know. This must be the quickest HB fic I ever wrote, since it only took me 3 months! Comments would be lovely :)

(The building stands before them like a leviathan. It is weathered, old, and holds absolutely no interest for John. He doesn't let the girl by his side know this, though.)

'Lo, all. Joined a bit ago and I'm glad to have found a community for this. I can see it's not very busy, but I'm sure it'll pick up as IJ continues to expand.

Last year, I moved to another city and was forced to leave behind several boxes, including my entire collection of Hellblazer comics. Thankfully, I was able to get them back, a week ago - and it's almost as if I can see that blonde hair and smell those cigarettes again!

What are the favourite collections? I'm partial to some of the past runs such as Son of Man and Rake at the Gates of Hell, but I've found myself attracted to some of the newer stories as well, the most recent of which is Down in the Ground Where the Dead Men Go.

12:18 am - Something To Read
Fanfic ahoy! Had these a while now, thought you guys might appreciate something to read! (Been meaning to make this post for ages and forgot. Oops).

My fics are set in a AU in which John's twin brother survived. So, basically, it's like canon, but John has a brother. The fics can be found right here.

That said, I have a suggested reading order, but you can take it or leave it, because I'd like to think that fics can be read alone as well as together, because no prior knowledge is needed, I don't think, as the characters is all that links them.

It goes like this:
- The Sound of Inevitability | Rating: PG-13 | Summary: What if John's twin brother had survived?
- Seven Ways From Sunday | Rating: PG-13 | Summary: John muses somewhat.
- The Dark Side of Me | Rating: PG-13 | Summary: Matt learns about the worst mistake John ever made.

If you're going for chronological order, then read them last, first, middle. Totally up to you.

Hope you enjoy them, comments/feedback/whatever else is welcome :)

03:15 pm - First Post
This community was made in response to the fact that there were no Hellblazer asylums, and I can't let that lie. I also created [info]johnconstantine a few minutes ago  for the movie adaptation. After thinking about it, I've decided that while they're related, they're different enough to warrant being separate. I think most Hellblazer fans will agree.

So huzzah and hello! Drinks all around! And whatnot.

And since I started it, I guess I should attempt to strike up discussion, right?

I'll admit to having seen the movie adaptation first when it originally came out. I actually didn't get my hands on a copy of Original Sins until a couple of weeks ago, even (my excuse is that I could only get it off of Amazon, and I am poor). But now that I've had the chance to sit down and read through it, I understand how Movie!Constantine and Canon!Constantine are completely different characters. I do have more specific complaints about the movie, but those are best left for another day.
