Week One: Saturday
Who: Serena and Alphonsine
When: 7ish
Where: Alibi Room
What: Serena is trying to track down ROARKE.

The past few days had been something of a blur and it was amazing that she had ever found time to stop and take a breath. When she wasn't meeting with the director of the hospital, she was combing the city's bars and clubs in an attempt to locate Kaden's new band. It felt like she was always two steps behind because they had either just played or hadn't booked another gig. Striking out over and over was frustrating to say the least and there was only so much venting she could do over the phone to Ryan. What was she going to do if she couldn't find him? She needed to get her closure and there were only so many meetings she could take before she would have to give the hospital a decision. A hospital that she was unfortunately growing very fond of at the moment.

Today had been the one day that she didn't have a meeting and so she decided to spend the morning and good part of the afternoon bundle up and outside with Tony. The poor guy had been locked up in their hotel room for most of their stay so far and there was no way she could keep him inside any longer. There was no question that he appreciated the time out to explore the city, the big guy practically drug her around the first hour. It was also good for her because it gave her some time to just think about everything. Not that she didn't do that constantly anyway but it was nice to be able to just wander around with her thoughts.

When it was finally too cold to stay outside any longer, she and Tony headed back to their room for some dinner. While the room service was good, she did miss having a kitchen and some home cooked food to eat. If she decided to stay in the city any longer she would seriously need to consider renting an apartment or something because this hotel living just wasn't going to cut it after a while. Once dinner was finished and sent away, she traded in her sweater for a royal blue turtleneck and black pea coat and headed on out again.

The first bar she hit was a complete waste of time, the bartender didn't seem to know anything expect how to maybe mix a drink and even that was questionable. The second wasn't as bad but she still got nothing. The third was some place called the Alibi Room and seemed promising enough considering it at least had a stage. Fortunately it was still early enough that there weren't too many people there but at the same time there were enough that she would hopefully be able to get some information.

Serena had been in the process of scanning the crowd for someone who looked like they might know their music when she turned, bumped into a blonde woman and promptly sent the flyers she had been holding falling to the ground. "Oh God I'm so sorry," she said quickly as she bent down to retrieve the brightly colored pieces of paper. And that's when she saw it... ROARKE spelled out in bold lettering with a date at the bottom. Maybe this was her lucky day after all. "Here," she said as she handed a stack of flyers back with a small smile. "Sorry again." A light chuckle that was slightly nervous parted her lips. "So is band any good?" she asked motioning to the top sheet. "I'm new to the city and always looking to find someone good to go and see."

Ally had only stopped in to get her paycheck and post some of the flyers that she had picked up from Kaden the other day. She was happy to help him out in any way she could. His band was fantastic and they could use a couple more good turn-outs before they could get bigger venues than some of the smaller bars that allowed for live music. The Alibi Room was a place that had the space for such a turn-out and it had the decor and bar to keep that good feeling going all night long. Besides those things, she genuinely liked him, and considered him a friend. Friends did these sorts of things for one another.

Bars were the first places she was going to hit up since the people that typically enjoyed said bar scene and live music would be the easiest to attract. Then, she would mark the coffee houses, whom on fewer occassions would book a band like ROARKE but not everyone that went there would only be listening to Moby. Between the two types of establishments, there was a lot of ground to cover in Seattle. It was a big, beautiful city, and she was happy to walk through it, the only trace of her journey the neon green and orange flyers with the band's name, show date next weekend, and the bar location.

The first one was taped to the wall near the entrance to the bar, which was down a flight of stairs and as she turned to put put the little stack of flyers and the tape back into her black messenger bag, she collided with another woman. Whoosh, the flyers slid up from her arm and splattered onto the floor. "Ah, sorry," Ally started, but so had the other woman, and then there was the little laugh that people did when these sorts of things happened. They both bent down to pick up what she had dropped, and Ally had a bit more enthusiasm to put them all securely into her bag. "It's okay, really, don't worry about it. Shouldn'tve been carrying such a big stack at once anyway."

When the woman asked if they were good, she replied, "Definitely! They're fantastic. Here." From the bag she took out a flyer and handed it to her. "They're a rock band and know how to put on a great show. The lead's voice is, gah, amazing." Ally smiled and closed her bag again, everything secured for now. "They'll be here next weekend, you should definitely come. Great way to get yourself feeling like Seattle's home by immersing yourself into the music. ROARKE's not like some other bands you might find, either. They don't do it for the money, they do it for the music." Ally laughed softly, her hand raised to light cover her mouth as she did. "I must sound like I'm a manager or a groupie or something, but I'm not. Just a friend and a fan. Where'd you move from, if you don't mind my asking?"

"Regardless, I should have been paying more attention to where I was going." A small smile was flashed as she reached up and tossed her golden locks back over her shoulder. Serena was usually much more careful when it came to things like not running into people. Guess the whole move to Seattle and search for her once thought to be dead fiance was starting to wear on her. Perhaps she needed to have a drink before she moved on from the place. Hmm.

The words of praise felt like a knife to heart and she knew that if Ryan had been there that he would have felt the same. Just the thought of Kaden having moved on and replaced them so quickly...it made her stomach churn. Cerulean eyes shifted down to look at the flyer that had been placed in her hand and for a moment her anger threatened to take over. "Well if they are as good as you say, I'll be sure to check them out." Once upon a time it would have been Serena putting up flyers and recruiting people to come see him perform. Not anymore.

"A friend huh? I take it you know the band well then." Another smile was offered as she folded up the flyer and slipped it into her purse. "Friends make the best critics. Managers are usually in it for the money and groupies for the hot guys." A soft chuckle parted her lips as she adjusted the black bag on her shoulder. "Speaking of which, are any of the guys hot?" she asked with a playful grin.

"Connecticut but I grew up in Tahoe. I'm actually out here to consider a job offer and check out the city. See if I could call it home, you know?" Now she could have lied and made something up but Serena wasn't a liar if she could help it and really it was easier just sticking to things that were true and avoiding certain other details. "Have you lived here long? I've only been here a couple of days so any advice as to what to check out or what apartment buildings are good and all that would be greatly appreciated."

"That's true. And, well, they're definitely easy on the eyes," she teased back with a little snicker. The ladies tended to fall for the lead singer, mostly because he was the one that everyone saw the most. She had just been teasing Kaden about that fact the other day, when he had stopped in here to sign the papers for the gig. Ally had a little thing for their drummer, but it was just one of those little crushes that were fun to toy with.

This new woman could not have found a better person for everything that she had just asked. Ally smiled and replied enthusiatically, "Can't say I've ever been to Connecticut. The closest I've come is New York City. But if you're into the big-city life, you'll probably like Seattle. I've been here a year myself and I totally get the need to get a feel for a place before you make the big move." The vampire typically gave a city a year to settle herself in before she would root down for another five years, and then would relocate. People as she was could not stay in a place for too long and be seen too much, unless they welcomed suspicion and questions. Questions about city, music, alcohol, stars, those were all fine things to talk about. But things about what she was and where she had really come from? Fat chance.

"There's a couple places you should check out, definitely," and as she was going to suggest the Towers, she stopped. Sometimes, she felt like she should protect humans from wandering into places with a heavy supernatural population. Not just for the security of the supernaturals, but for the humans, too. There was a great number of them that would sooner snap a neck than give you a helping hand. But, she could not be the guardian of the human race. "For apartments, there's the Old Town Towers. It's where I live, actually. Really nice places and the management is pretty open about letting you decorate it to fit your own tastes--so long as you're not taking a blow-torche and sledgehammer to the walls, of course."

She fished into her bag to look for a pen. "I can give you the number of the management for the towers, if you want to have a look at their vacancies. You can get one, two, and I think three bedroom places, but don't quote me on the three. I've a one bedroom myself, and they're pretty spacious."

Serena tried to bite back the flare of possessive jealous that threatened to rise and for the most part she was successful. Instead she merely flashed a smile and tried to give a laugh that didn't sound completely forced. "Nothing better than a good looking band," she grinned. Oh she was going to kill him once she finally got her hands on him. Ahem.

"I actually spent a good amount of time in New York City. I had...friends there that I would go visit whenever I could." It totally wasn't a lie but not the complete truth either. It was almost amazing how good she was getting at this. "I think the thing I like most so far are the trees. Love the city life but there's just something about being surrounded by nature that makes it so much better. You know?" Just knowing that all it would take was a short drive and she could be alone in a forest definitely held a lot of appeal for her.

"Old Town Towers," she repeated with a nod. "I will definitely have to check them out." Serena had no idea if she would really wind up staying that long but who knew. Even with Kaden here perhaps she could start all over again and build herself a new life. It was his loss anyway. "And I would have to have a two bedroom. I don't think I could live without having an office." Work would be coming home with her fairly regularly she guessed and so a space for that was definitely going to be needed. "Thanks, I will give them a call later," she said as she tucked the number away.

"Well I should probably get going. My dog gets a bit testy when he doesn't get his dinner on time." Another smile offered as she reached out to shake the woman's hand. "It was very nice bumping into you. I'll have to do it again sometime." A light chuckle parted her lips before she turned and headed for the door. Now all she had to do was make it until the weekend and she could finally move on with her life.

[Figured I'd wrap this up since we're into the next week. ;D]

What Serena had been attempting to mask, Ally did not pick up on it, or she simply chose not to acknowledge it. For what could a woman new to the city really have against anyone else here, let alone Ally? She smiled and nodded again about the scenery of the city. "Very much so. It's not as overbearing as some places are. I love that it keeps some of the natural area intact. If you really like it's natural beauty, you could also check out the aquarium. There's a lot about local aquatic life that you'd never really know about otherwise." Which was true, but oh, how she did love the aquarium.

"Oh, here," Ally said and she gently took back the flyer that she had initially given the woman. On the back of it she jotted down the number for Towers, and her number, too. "My name's Ally, by the way. If you have any other questions or you end up moving into the building, feel free to give me a call. I'm always around."

She handed the flyer back to the woman. It was not easy going to a completely new place when you did not know anyone. In the beginning, which for Ally was a long time ago, she was incredibly shy and careful of how adventurous she allowed herself to be. Once she had gotten used to it, however, she found she could move into a new city and walk out the door of her apartment like she had always been there. For the first few weeks, she might not have been entirely certain of where she was headed, there was an air of confidence about her. Hopefully, this woman would feel confidant about a move, too.

[Apologies for the delay. :\]
