Week Seven: Monday
Who: Alex, Kaden and Serena
When: Night
Where: The Old Town Towers
What: There could be a smack down

Things were going pretty well for Alex since he had moved to Seattle. He had gotten laid by a beautiful woman. The sex of which was beyond incredible and had exhausted him for days. He had gotten to spend a little quality time with his sister, though not nearly enough. He had found a job. And at his job, he had made a few friends, two in particular that really did him some good. Johnny had a garage at his house that he gave Alex free use of and Paul had a junkyard that was like a restoration artist's wet dream, giving him license to take anything he wanted from the place. A day after that, as if it were meant to be, a beauty of a body fell into his lap. Now, in addition to working all night, he was working during the day as well, at Johnny's garage, using parts from Paul's junkyard to restore the classic beauty that Steve had sold him for a hundred bucks. He was practically in heaven.

Tired on his feet having spent the entire day at the garage, Alex had gotten a call asking him to come in because someone had called out. And even though he was exhausted, overtime paid a hell of a lot of money, so because of that, he had agreed and dragged his wasted ass out of the bed. Serena was still at work when he got out of the shower to get dressed, so he had taken the dog out for her like he always did when she was gone for long periods of time and was heading back up to the apartment to put him back inside before he took off when Tony, completely out of character for the dog, yanked the leash out of his hand and took off barking.

"Fuck!" Alex muttered as he exhaled a sigh. "Tony, ya asshole, come back here!" He said, taking off after the dog, following the sound of his paws on the floors to try to catch him and take him home. At least he was going in the right direction instead of trying to run back outside. Maybe Serena had come home while they were outside and he had just missed her and Tony smelled him and was going to go track her down.

The footfalls stopped just before Alex rounded a corner and there Tony was, sniffing some man who was petting him. "Come here, you mangy mutt." He said, sighing as he shook his head. "Sorry man." He addressed the man, looking up at him. Why did he look so familiar? Alex had met Kaden only a handful of times so it would take a minute to come to him, but for now, he had a brow arched and was watching him carefully, trying to figure out exactly why he knew that face.

Kaden was just heading out: ROARKE had a gig booked in a few hours and he wanted to get there in time to help unload and set up, make sure the sound board of the little hole in the wall was programmed correctly this time and make sure that the owner, famous for bailing without paying bands, wasn't trying to do the same to them. He was the lead singer, after all, if he didn't take care of all the little tidbits of information that seemed so unimportant, then who would?

He hadn't expected to hear the little clawed feet skittering against the hardwood, nor had he expected to see Tony heading towards him at full-speed. Alex came around the corner later, a second after Kaden had knelt down to stop the nearly-flying pooch before he hurt himself (or anyone else), so his attention was diverted for the moment. "Hey guy," he reached down to give the bulldog an affectionate scratch behind one ear, greeting his one-time pet with a smile.

Eventually, he had to look up, expecting Serena to be at the other end of the runaway leash. Instead, there was some guy...some guy that he'd never seen before. But if he was walking Tony, then it was obvious that Serena knew him, that she trusted him. Kade knew how over-protective of that dog she was, there was no way she'd just let him go off with anyone. "Hey," Kaden pushed to stand, to greet this stranger with a smile and an extended hand. He had no idea just what he'd gotten himself into thanks to this random encounter.

"The dog knows you." He remarked, though it might should have come out as a question instead. But really, Alex was just thinking out loud, putting the fragments of thoughts together. He knew this man. He knew the face! And for some reason, he was starting to feel rather angry, and rather protective of the dog, his sister's dog, or was it more specifically his sister?

"Come here, Tony." He said, and moved over to grab the leash, ignoring the hand as it was offered to him. As he moved closer, he got a closer look at him and it finally just hit him where he knew him from. "Kaden.." Kaden Scott, his sister's fiance, dead fiance.

"What the fuck are you doing here?" He asked, standing up to his full height, Tony's leash held tightly in his hand. "What... Serena... Aren't you supposed to be fucking dead?" He was starting to think things now, think about the whole situation, the whole story. And though he wasn't one to normally jump to conclusions, when it came to his sister, he was anything but rational.

"Yeah..." Kaden started in, found himself beginning to explain why it was that this dog knew him. He'd been about to go with the 'next door neighbor' route instead of the whole 'presume dead, but really just amnesiac vampire' bit - that probably wouldn't be exactly the ice break that he was looking for. People tended not to respond well to that type of thing, especially not when meeting you for the first time. After all, as far as he was concerned this was the first time they'd met. He couldn't recall the face, the voice, none of it.

And then Tony was yanked away, rather unhappy looking about it too, and Kaden found himself frowning, wanting to tell this random guy to take it easy. The dog wasn't some tug of war toy, besides it was Serena's dog, not his. There was no way she'd go for someone manhandling Tony like that. He stepped closer, moved to loosen his grip on the leash by force if he had to, when the guy stared straight at him and called him by name.

"I...live here," he answered lamely, still dumbstruck as to who exactly this guy was and how he knew his name. Fuck - another person from his past he wasn't going to remember?! And this guy didn't seem as thrilled as Serena had been to see him up and moving. "You know Serena? I mean, obviously you have her dog..." he gestured to Tony. "I'm not dead..clearly, but that seems to be what everyone thinks I should be. It's a really long story...given that you know Serena, she might enlighten you." He didn't know the guy from Adam, didn't know how much Serena trusted him and he wasn't about to go and put his whole story out there - not a good idea.

It was probably the step towards him that really pissed him off and got his blood to pumping beneath his chest. Or maybe it was the thoughts that were running rampant through his head. Serena knew he was here? She knew about this? That was hard for him to believe. She hadn't told him, of course, and he had to think that that was for a reason and that reason had to be because she knew that Alex would flip the fuck out if this asshole had hurt his sister. So rationalizing things that way, Kaden had hurt her, and Alex couldn't simply be expected to let that go.

"Fucking asshole.. You let her think that you were dead?" And before Kaden could so much as answer, and before he had time to rethink the consequences of his actions, Alex had let go of Tony's leash and had swung a punch right for Kaden's face, dead on. How amusing was that turn of phrase right about now? He had no idea what he was up against, but when it came to his sister, her hardly even cared, and the only thing he could think about at this exact moment in time was how badly she had been hurt, how destroyed she had been when Kaden died. And the bastard wasn't even dead and had that audacity to even speak her name.

"Fucking Christ!" That punch had landed before Kaden had even had the chance to call upon those lovely vampire abilities of his to try and stop it. He hadn't expected it, on any level, hadn't even thought for a second that this dude might haul off and sock him in the face. It took everything in him to bite back that urge to fight back, to bare those elongated canines and go after the fucker for that sucker punch. The anger pulled at him, that monster rearing up to strike out, but he simply held a hand to his (momentarily) bloody nose, trying to figure out how to get out of this before Mr. Punchy figured out that he wasn't bleeding anymore, that he didn't have so much as a bruise forming.

"You just go around punching guys you don't know all the time?!" He moved to sit up, dabbing the sleeve of his coat against his nose to wipe away the blood. Kaden pushed himself up from the floor, keeping his forearm raised to block the sight of his already-healing injury, "Is that like saying hello for you, or what?" He obviously wasn't too keen on this little meet and greet so far. "So you know me...somehow....so how? And what did I do to deserve a fucking fist to the face?"

Alex was more than ready to brawl. He wasn't even paying attention to the fact that the other guy wasn't bleeding all that much, or that he wasn't bruised, or even that he wasn't trying to fight back. He was just pissed off, perhaps too pissed off for his own good, too pissed to even listen to reason or to the words coming out of the fucker's mouth.

By this time, Tony was barking up a storm, trying to alert the neighbors to the brawl in the hall or perhaps to try to break them up, but Alex had let all concern for that go out the window as he shot the man a glare. "Don't act like you don't fucking know who the hell I am, fucker! You're going to fucking pay for what you did to my sister!" He shouted, and then launched himself at him again. He was what one might call "hot-headed".

Ok, really, there was only so much Kaden could be expected to take. Sure, he was playing the nice guy now, trying to keep his cool since this ass was obviously somebody important to Serena and he hadn't any idea who the hell he was. He wasn't going to stand there and take punches all day, that much was for damn sure. One, he'd give him - one was fair. If this guy knew him from the past, then he'd probably done something at some point to deserve one to the face.

When Alex charged at him, Kaden moved first, moved quicker. He wasn't going on the offensive, not yet at least. He stepped forward as the other man came at him, forcing him back against the wall, a forearm pressed to his upper chest, just below his throat, to keep him pinned there. "I don't know who the fuck you are!" he shouted right back, "Get that through your skull, buddy, I. HAVE. NO IDEA. WHO. YOU. ARE!"

The guy was quick and Alex had not been expecting that. He had barely even gotten any momentum going when the other man pinned him back against the wall in a way that he couldn't get free from him. He had never had that happen before, not ever, and it kinda caught him off guard. Here he was, a pretty big guy, and built too which was why he was in his present line of work. And granted, Kaden was no small guy either, but to be pinned that fast and that hard was something that he found a hard time wrapping his head around.

Tony was barking still. And though he tried to move, it just wasn't happening so fuck.. "Her brother. Serena's brother. Do you fucking remember me now, asshole? You seem to know who the hell she is."

So far Serena's week had been going fantastically. All of the children she had seen earlier had all been in good spirits and she had a date with the sexiest man er...vampire she knew. Life was good, no, life was great and it showed by the bounce in her step and the smile on her face. She almost felt like doing a little dance as she made her way inside of her apartment building but she didn't want to embarrass herself in front of her neighbors.

After a quick stop by the mailbox, she made her way inside one of the elevators and up she went. A soft humming sound could be heard slipping from her lips as she waited for the doors to reopen. Hmm, what did she want for dinner tonight? Thai food was actually sounding pretty good but if Alex was home then she probably just make something instead. Nothing like a little sibling bonding while cooking dinner.

When the elevator doors opened, she stepped out and dug through her purse for her keys as she made her way down the hall. The one thing she didn't expect to hear was Kaden's voice followed by her brother's. Oh. Crap. "Kaden, Alex, stop!" she called as she ran toward them. Her purse was dropped as she tried to wedge herself between them. It was probably a rather humorous sight watching the smaller woman clad in Hello Kitty scrubs try to pull the two men apart but that was the last thing on her mind.

"Stop, just stop!" Somehow she managed to get them separated and she focused on keeping in front of her brother because she knew just how hotheaded he could get. "Alex look at me. It's not what you think, okay? And I know I should have told you but it's complicated and...just calm down and I'll tell you everything. Please."

Kaden had tried to move quickly enough to stop him without arousing any suspicions, the same practice he carried out when pinning Alex up against the hallway wall. He didn't want to hurt him, either, not when he knew exactly what he was to Serena. Based on their recent conversations, he felt comfortable guessing that the guy wasn't some date hanging out after hours. But brother...well brother he hadn't expected, that was for sure.

Serena's sudden, rather unexpected presence, had given Kaden enough reason to release the hold he'd had on Alex, to step back and give the two room. What a way to greet her brother, that was really nice. It was obvious now why the guy would think he was such a complete ass - still didn't justify the punch, but at least his anger wasn't psychotically misplaced or anything. Kaden did think enough to lift his hand to his nose again, as if it was still bleeding from the hit it had taken earlier. Appearances were everything, right?

Being held down like that had made Alex beyond livid and already he was thinking of ways to take this fucker down when he let go. He wasn't even hearing anything he had to say, and probably wouldn't have listened to a word of it were it not for Serena showing up, and just in time to keep him from getting into too much trouble.

Kaden let him go and it took all that he could not to lunge at him, instead looking at Serena with wide eyes, confusion and anger all intermingled into one. "You knew he was here and you didn't warn me?" He asked. "What the fuck, Serena? You think it would be funny for me to bump into your dead fiance in the hall?"

Alex took a few steps away from her but not towards Kaden, straightening up his shirt and running fingers back through his hair before he shook his hand, knuckles a little sore from punching Kaden in the face. A glance at his watch told him he was running late. "I gotta go to work." He threw up his hands as if in defeat and then turned, walking the way that Serena had come from to head out, not saying another word.

Ugh, Serena just knew the whole not telling Alex thing was going to come back and bite her in the ass. She just wasn't expecting it to be so soon. Shoot, shoot, shoot! Okay quick! What could she say to diffuse the situation? Unfortunately nothing was coming to mind and she could only stand there as Alex got understandably upset at her and then took his leave.

"Alex..."

Her shoulders fell forward in defeat and she knew it was better to just let him go cool off before trying to talk to him again. "I'm sorry," she finally told Kaden with a sheepish grin. "I should have warned you and I should have told him but I wasn't sure how to bring up the whole...you know." Coming out with "Hey my supposed to be dead fiance is a vampire and has amnesia" wasn't the most believable thing in the world so she wanted to ease her brother into the truth. Somehow.

"Are you okay?" she asked as she reached for his face. "Did he hurt you?"

Kaden took another step back, figuring it was best to keep as much space between he and Alex at the moment as possible. He couldn't remember Serena's brother for the life of him, but there was no doubting whether or not he remembered Kaden. And judging by his reaction, he couldn't count on Alex's vote in the future. Poor Tony was spooked as hell by the whole thing - ok, he wasn't really. In fact, he'd stretched out on his belly in front of Kaden's door, as if he was waiting for the petty human drama to be over with.

"S'ok," he waved off her apology, flashing a reassuring smile. "Can't blame the guy, really. Had our positions been reversed, I probably would have thrown a punch of my own." The guy was defending his sister, you couldn't really pile the blame on him for it. It was good to know that Serena had someone looking out for her. Living in a place like Seattle, given all the creep crawlies out and about, it was always good to have someone who had your back.

"I'm fine. Vampire, remember?" he grinned, the hand falling from his face to show that it was free of any sort of bruising, "He throws a good punch, he's just so match for that whole accelerated healing thing."

Serena really had no idea how she was going to resolve this whole thing with Alex but she would figure it out once she got there. Granted that would probably involve tying him to a chair while she came up with a game plan but whatever. It wouldn't be the first time.

"Maybe, but it doesn't make it hurt any less," she smirked. Vampire or not, taking a punch to the face couldn't be all that great. Fortunately he was so she didn't have to worry about taking him to the hospital or any of that, and she grinned when he removed his hand. "I wouldn't tell him that or he might just be determined enough to try to beat that accelerated healing." Especially with how upset he was right now, Serena could see him trying his best to make sure the injuries beat out the healing.

"Well I hate to cut this short but I need a shower in the worst way and then I should try to get ahold of Alex. I'll see you on Thursday?" A quick step toward him was taken as she gave him a peck on the cheek. One final smile was flashed before she dashed into her apartment. So much to do, so little time.
