Week 6, Tuesday night
Who: Hale and Adian
What: An adventurous date
When: Tuesday evening

So the idea had just sort of come to him in the midst of a murder investigation. Yeah, it was a little weird to be thinking up dates while examining blood splatters, but he'd take inspiration where he could find it. The murder weapon had been a gun. Guns could be dangerous, yeah, but they could also save lives. And to be perfectly honest, he'd been worried sick about Adian getting offed by that bastard she lived with. Yeah she was a vampire and strong and all, but he was older and stronger, not to mention he displayed all the warning signs of potential trouble. He really didn't want to investigate her murder; he'd rather just shoot the creepy bastard in the head right now, but he had to follow the law and that would be looked down upon just a tad. But--and this was a big but as far as he was concerned.

You see, there was no law about defending yourself. And he was pretty sure Adian, though he found her proper ladylike behavior endearing, had no idea how to shoot a gun. But he did, and he knew a shooting range where he could teach her how to do it as well. Yeah, it would be an unregistered weapon if he left one with her but that kind of thing would be the least of her worries if she actually had to use it. Still, handing someone a gun and saying "pull the trigger if necessary" was usually not the best plan of action.

So, he'd decided to take her to the shooting range for a crash course in shooting. Hopefully it wouldn't completely scare her to death, but he always found shooting to be a great stress reliever and living with Vallis had to create a lot of tension. Nothing like squeezing off a few rounds from a 9mm into a target to decompress a bit.

So, he got ready to go on tuesday evening after work, ditching the suit and tie (he'd been in court that day, testifying) for a pair of blue jeans and a plain black polo. Not too shabby, but not over-dressed either. After all, he'd told her to go casual, right? So at the agreed-upon time, he put his shoulder holster on and slid his personal gun into it. No sense in using his on-duty pistol. The 9mm Browning Hi-Power was smaller than his police-issue weapon, and would be easier to start out with. Though, he figured once he got there he'd check out a .22 for her to start with. Less recoil, easier to get the hang of aiming... yeah. His brain was on the guns until he got down the hall to Adian's door, and then his train of thought took a hard right. Focus on the girl. Right. He knocked on the door and stood back, adjusting his black leather jacket over his shoulder holster so it didn't show. Might ruin the surprise!

Life, as of lately had been... strange. Calm almost, and there wasn't much she could bring herself to complain about. Calm, because Vallis seemed to have become a different person. Not to say he was now kind, and caring, but rather reclusive... Instead of bothering her endlessly during the day, taunting her, he kept to himself, locked away in his bedroom, doing God knows what. Though, when he did speak to her, it was with that same cruel nature, he always displayed. His favorite topic was Hale. It almost seemed as if he had been dating the cop at the end of the hall. In his opinion, her spending someone who was half human, was completely blasphemous. He was food, Vallis had told her, repeatedly. Eat it, don't fuck it... the same old lines. She had now heard them so often, that they didn't bother her.

As she moved into living room of their apartment, her eyes moved towards his bedroom door, the light was visible beneath it's seem... Odd, he normally left the moment the sun was down. She found it hard to believe he was staying it tonight. All the more reason for her to escape. As she moved before an ornate mirror, Adian adjusted her earrings, gave her hair a little adjusting. She had taken his advice, and dressed casually. A new pair of blue jeans covered her long legs, black ballet type shoes had also been decided upon. Adian had bought them some time before, because the resembled the shoes she wore constantly as a child. How she missed dancing. Perhaps it was time to take it up once more? On top of that, a... well, it was a bit dressy, she had to admit, an Asian inspired white sweater.

At least it wasn't a dress in heels, that alone was an improvement. As his knock meet her ears, a smile instantly appeared on those full lips of hers. Even her makeup was tame, compared to how it normally was. Her lips were bare, rather than a vibrant red, and simple eye makeup framed her dark brown eyes. She certainly didn't appear as if she had just stepped off of the stage. Moving to the door, she pulled it open a tiny bit, peering out at him, before opening the door the rest of the way. "Good evening." She said with a smile. Seeing Hale was something she was now used to, but still the butterflies erupted in her stomach at the sight of him.

As far as Hale was concerned, a calm and reclusive Vallis could be nothing but good news. He didn't care what the arrogant ass said about him as long as he didn't hurt Adian. Not that he knew what was being said, but he of course had his suspicions. After all, it was hardly like Vallis hid his contempt very well. Didn't even seem to try.

It didn't take her long to come to the door, and as soon as he saw her, his lips curled into a smile. Instead of responding verbally to her greeting, he leaned in and gave her a kiss on the cheek. "I think this is the first time I've seen you without a dress on," he said pleasantly. "You pull of jeans well." The sweater wouldn't be a problem, besides, it looked good on her. He'd hardly recommend that she change.

He thought she looked beautiful with the natural makeup on. Of course, he was biased, thought she was lovely all the time. "Are you ready to go?" Yeah he was a little giddy about the date he'd planned. He just hoped it wasn't too... out there for Adian's tastes.

It was no secret that the two men hated one another. Both complained of the other to her. Vallis she simply tried to ignore, and Hale, she attempted to reassure. Yes, Vallis was dangerous, but he was not a threat to her. Amazingly, the had an understanding, and so long as Roslin remained missing, he wasn't to touch her. Roslin would have his bits if he ever raised a hand to her. So, they lived in this arrangment.

Adian smiled as he kissed her cheek, but she didn't allow him to move back far. Her hand curled lightly into the front of his shirt. "I am rather fond of looking pretty." So dresses tended to be her outfit of choice. Adian pressed her lips to his own, sighing into the kiss as she did so. Though lingering, the kiss was innocent enough, she was playing by his rules after all. He wanted to be old fashioned, she could certainly respect that. Once she pulled back, she released his shirt, running her hand over it, to sooth out the wrinkles she had created. "Thank you, I haven't worn them since I was a little girl." Once more, she wore that oh so mischievously innocent smile, as if it would fool anyone.

"I am, she moved from the door way for a moment, plucking a small white purse from a near by chair, before returning to stand before him. "I must say, the secrecy of our outing, has made the anticipation quite exciting." In the hallway, she pulled the door closed behind her, locking, then dropping her keys into the bag. It was obvious that she was looking forward to their date, whatever he had planned. "So, are you going to end my curious suffering now? Or must I wait a while longer?"

Yeah, Hale despised Vallis, but he definitely didn't hate Adian. If seeing her meant the possibility of confrontations with him, well, that was worth it. Besides, she seemed amiable lately to hanging out in his apartment. Hale was the protective type, and he felt better knowing that he could step between them should something happen. If it was on his territory, he knew he could put up a fight.

He had just begun to lean back when her hand caught his shirt and drew him back toward her. He smiled against her lips as he kissed her back, and the grin didn't leave his face once their lips broke. He didn't know how much more of this gentlemanly stuff he could take, but he knew his mama would be proud so far, that was for sure. "You're always pretty," he said, knowing it was cheesy but what the hell. It was true! And that smile... she probably had no idea how adorable she was.

"I'm glad to hear my plan has worked, then. Anticipation is half the fun, right?" he asked, taking her hand as they walked to the elevator. He pushed the button and waited for it to arrive, stepping in as soon as the door was open. "I don't know, though. It might be fun to draw it out until we get there, don't you think? Or can you not wait that long?" The elevator hit the ground floor and Hale made his way to the door, holding it open for her. He did the same with his car door, opening the passenger side for her before walking back around to get in and turn on the ignition.

Hale's home, was certainly more warm, inviting, and entertaining than her own. She was learning quite a lot about basketball, though she rather enjoyed watching him explain everything to her, rather than the game it's self. He obviously had a passion for the sport, and it was truly adorable. Another adorable aspect of being a guest in his home, was that Blue happened to live there as well. The two had became quick friends, and there was something splendid, about a creature being so happy to see that. The simple love, and adoration. Made even more sweet by the gangly puppy, who felt she always needed to be a lap dog. The two were rarely truly alone together, as Blue usually occupied what little space rested between them on the sofa.

Her eyes lit up then. He always had the sweetest things to say. And, it would be a lie to say she had no clue that he was in fact smitten. It said something on her part, however, that she did not use to her advantage."Well, you haven't seen me when I first wake up... yet. But thank you." Adian loved that he was a gentleman. So many, especially those fellow vampires, had no interesting in anything beyond a physical connection. As it was, that hadn't been a bother to her, for a long time. But now that she had met someone, actually interested in more, it did. Though, the two had shared quite a few kisses, and she was welcoming for the possibilty of more. After all, even the most prim, proper vampire was still that. A creature, sexual in nature when it came down to it.

"It has indeed. Anticipation can be either fun, or horrid. All depending on the situation it surrounds. This one, it has been fun." She adored him for planning things for them to do. Yes, they had down moments, where they simply "hung out." Those nights were lovely, but so were those when he put so much effort into their plans. It made her feel rather giddy, to be spoiled in such a way. Adian wondered why she was so lucky. "Oh..." She considered his question, her dark eyes sweeping over his face to red his expression. "I can wait." She smiled, knowning that he wished to really surprise her, and it wouldn't hurt to wait a short while longer, now would it? She thanked him for each polite gesture, until the were finally situated inside his vehicle. "No matter what it is, I'm going to have a lovely time, because it's with you."

Hale's apartment was rather homey. It wasn't overly decorated (or really decorated at all); the only pictures were of his family, the couch and chair didn't really match, his bed linens weren't overly compatible with his curtains, but it had a cozy feel. Besides, all it needed was a woman's touch, not that he'd admit that in a million years. Sounded too needy, or something like that.

And he was trying to teach her about basketball, but sometimes he got too into the games, wound up standing in front of the couch, half-shouting as one of 'his' players had an unfair foul called against them. In these cases, Blue joined in and started barking at the television, which resulted in laughter all around. He didn't get worked up over anything but basketball, and even that was all in good fun.

He liked the way she looked when he complimented her. He got the impression that not many men had ever done that, given her compliments and been sincere about it. He was a horrible liar, so any false comments would be ridiculous and obvious. And it wasn't all about the sex, obviously. If that was all he was interested in, there had been plenty of other women. She was different. He felt like this could turn into something, and he didn't want to rush things. Still, with all the time they spent together, he wasn't sure how much longer he could be the good boy.

"Well it's good this is the fun kind of anticipation," he said, starting up the car and driving toward the public shooting range he often went to for target practice when he didn't want to deal with others at the department. The shooting range there often turned into talking about cases. Sometimes it was better to get away from that. "I sure hope so. I think you'll enjoy it even if it is a little bit out of your comfort zone."

The drive wasn't too long, and soon he was pulling into the parking lot. The building didn't have a sign on it; it was just an old building. It looked unoccupied except for the full parking lot and men milling around the front door, smoking cigarettes and talking. After he opened her car door for her and closed it behind her, he said hello to the other men he knew. "All right, before we get downstairs, since I don't want you thinking I'm taking you to some seedy gentleman's club or anything, this is a shooting range. I thought it might be fun to, you know, teach you how to use a gun." He smiled, proving that he did mean well!

When you took on a persona, and performed for a living, people became infatuated with that person, they thought you were. A lot of the time, people thought they could speak to you in such a way, because they thought they knew you. When the truth was, they had no idea who she really was. But still, at times they had no issue approaching her, speaking to her in such a way, that would not be considered the least bit appropriate. Soliciting her, touching, completely out of bounds. Luckily, since becoming a vampire, she was quite capable of taking care of herself, but before the change, club security had been rather amazing in that sense. So, to have Hale approach her, in the way he had, was a rather nice change. Yes, he was interested, but in something more than just an evening. His behavior thus far, had certainly earned him several evenings of... fun.

Out of her comfort zone. That seemed to become clear, when he suggested that she stray from her normal way of dress. The two always had fun together, so she didn't see why tonight would be any different. It was at that moment, that she decided to plan a date for them some time soon. Thus far, he had been the one to ask, and plan. Only seemed fair that she should do the same for him. "I'm sure I will then." Though as prim as she appeared, Adian was adventures... hell, any person who became a vampire willingly, had to have some daring in them, didn't they?

Adian's brows knit together, as they parked before the rather shady looking structure. In truth, if he hadn't offered up the information willingly, she would have asked. "I can't see you in a seedy's gentlemen's club. Though, it wouldn't be my first time in one..." Yes, that was a story for another night, she thought. She said with an amused smile, climbing from the vehicle. Her eyes swept over those standing outside. "I've never shot one before. My brother used to hunt rabbit when he was a child, but we girls were never allowed to touch it." No, their focus had been kept on other things. The idea made her slightly nervous, even as an immortal, she knew a gun could end her life, if aimed correctly. It was then a thought struck her. "You don't want me to learn, because you think I won't be safe on the street... you're worried about me at home, aren't you?" Her tone turned soft, as she watched him. So, he might not be suggesting outright, that she shoot Vallis, but she didn't think he would mind it either.

See, being a detective meant you could see through the masks people wore a lot of the time. Even when Adian was onstage, when Hale had seen her perform, he could still see her. It was like knowing a secret no one else did, and it was enough to make him smile even more than usual when he was around her. He was in on her real self, and he had a feeling not many people were. He felt lucky.

He really hoped he wasn't pushing it too far by taking her to do this, but it was something he enjoyed. He thought she might enjoy it, too, and it was a useful skill. Really useful, when you lived with a psychopath. Yeah, Hale had him pegged as deranged, that was for sure. He was waiting for him to snap and start off on a killing rampage-- if he hadn't already. There was always the chance that some of the Jane Does that had showed up recently were Vallis' handiwork, but he didn't want to jump to conclusions based on personal prejudice. That wouldn't exactly be doing his job.

"You wouldn't see me in a seedy gentleman's club. Not unless I was going undercover or serving a warrant, at least." And he had done that a couple of times. Not his favorite jobs. Something about being surrounded by half naked women with dollar bills poking out of their g-strings was just... uncomfortable. Watching people get naked with an audience was supposed to be fun? He raised his eyebrows at her comment but didn't ask. He was sure he'd hear about it eventually.

He took her hand as they started down the stairs to the basement area where the shooting range was housed. "Guns can be a lot of fun if you know how to use them and don't accidentally hurt someone." He'd seen that a few times. Gun safety was really important, as far as he was concerned. "Hunting is one way to have a good time with them. I like target shooting though. I don't like shooting something unless I'm going to eat it and..." he shrugged. "Hunting requires a vacation. I don't take a lot of those. So I come down here."

At the front desk, he showed his ID, introduced her as his guest, and asked if he could check out the Browning .22 in the case with a box of ammo. The guy behind the desk knew him, so the answer was, of course, yes. He hung his jacket on the coat rack and took hers as well, revealing the shoulder holster he carried his 9mm in. "Well, part of the reason is because it's... fun," he said, looking at her softly. "But I do worry. Vallis... I don't trust him. And I know you can take care of yourself, don't get me wrong," he added. "But I just want to know that if he decides to... to do something, that the odds are a little more even." He hoped that didn't upset her, but he really did worry.

Adian hadn't missed the raising of her brow. "I once worked in the Windmill theater, in London. It was the first theater in England, to showcase naked women on stage. Though, the women who appeared naked, were more.. a work of art. They did not sing, nor dance, but rather remained motionless." That had been the only way they were allowed to show nudes on stage at that time. For that time, it was risque. "I wasn't one of the naked girls, just so you know." She added with a slight laugh. No, Adian had been among those who sang, and danced, the ones who actually did the work. "I do enjoy a good burlesque show. We may have to go one evening, it's tastefully done, and it's the art of tease, so, no real nudity." How many women would take their date to a place like that? Very few.

Moving into the basement, her eyes moved around the area, taking everything in. Her eyes screwed up slightly, taking in the several different beating hearts. Most elevated due to the activity going on here. Obviously is was quite exciting. The possible risk it carried, knowing that you had such a powerful object in your hand. If only they released that the true power was within themselves, rather than the gun. "Sport hunting not your taste? I've never understood the appeal myself. Seems like a cowardly sport... just another form of waving ones nub about." That was her opinion of most hunting, just that with guns.

"I don't trust him either, and you neither should you." Adian understood his discomfort towards the vampire. They hadn't exactly made a good first impression. "He's been acting odd lately... he hasn't been a pest, though, I'm not sure that is a good thing, it rather makes me curious as to what he's up to." His worry, and concern was completely endearing. Smiling softly, she stepped forward, wrapping her arms gentle around his middle, as she looked up to him. "Thank you, for worrying about me." Not many would worry about a vampire, so it was sweet that he did. She gave his lips the briefest kiss, before letting her arms fall from his form. "Sorry, I know kissing isn't exactly the sort of manly thing to do around here." How could she not though, when he was so completely sweet?

"So, how about you show me how all of this is done. I want to be a skilled marksman before the night is through." She said with a nod, taking his hand once more, and looking up to him expectantly.

Hale nodded after she explained her experience with the WIndmill theatre. "I can't say I've ever heard of it, but it sounds... interesting," he said with a slight laugh. "I haven't ever seen you dance, you know," he said with a slight smile. "You'll have to show me, sometime." At her mention of a burlesque show, his eyebrows shot up again, and while the idea did make him slightly nervous (after all, he really wasn't the type to go to that sort of thing, even if it was just the art of 'tease'), she was following along with his plans, so of course he'd go along with hers. "All right. I'll trust you on this one," he replied.

"I don't see the point of hunting since it's obviously not necessary," Hale said with a shrug. "I can get my food at the grocery store. I know some people enjoy actually shooting it themselves, but the appeal is lost on me." He had shot a few people in his time on the police force, but all of them had deserved it. You didn't wave a loaded gun at a cop and refuse to put it down without some consequences, especially not after you'd killed two women and kidnapped a little girl. But that was a story for another day.

The obvious question Hale wanted to ask was, if she didn't trust Vallis, why the hell did she live with him? But he bit his tongue. She had her reasons, he was sure of that, and it wasn't his place to question them. Not yet, at least. He made note of her mention that he was acting oddly and decided to keep an even closer eye out. This trip was definitely a good idea. "Of course I worry," he said, returning the kiss softly. "And I don't mind. They're all just jealous, I'm sure."

"All right, then, let's get to it," he said, leading her over to one of the booth-type things that were set up to separate the shooters. He pushed a button and the board to place the target on came forward. He pulled a paper target from the cabinet beneath the bench he had set the guns on, and hung it on the hook on the board. "You're going to be shooting at this," he said. "Obviously you want to aim for the bulls-eye." He pushed the button again and it returned to the spot at the end of the range, far enough away that hitting it would be a challenge. "But first you need some ear plugs. Range rules," he said, taking a package of little orange ear plugs out of his jacket pocket, handing her a pair before slipping some in his own ears. "You'll still be able to hear talking, might just have to speak up a bit."

Once their ears were safely protected, he grabbed the .22 pistol from the bench and released the magazine. "You push this button to get the clip out," he said, demonstrating. "And then you load the bullets in." He put the first couple in to show her, and then handed the magazine over so that she could load the rest. If she was going to shoot, she needed to know how to do it all, not just the pulling of the trigger. "Even when the magazine isn't in the gun, make sure when you set it down the barrel is pointing away from you. There could be a bullet left in the chamber that you don't know about, and 'unloaded guns' kill people every day." He knew, he'd seen it. Kids playing around with their parents' guns would swear up and down that it hadn't been loaded, but somehow their neighbor had wound up with a bullet in his head. Funny how that worked.

"I was classically trained... though I haven't danced in years." Very few clubs wanted the whole big show, when it came to jazz performers. The old song, and dance weren't really what was in style. Though, that sort of dancing had never been her passion. The long lines created by ones body during ballet suited her best, she had thought. A long frame ever suited for such a dance, she possessed it. "Maybe I'll show you one day, I ought to dance anyway, it's been far too long." It wasn't until that moment, she realized just how much she had missed it. "Really?" She asked in amusement. Well, if he was willing, she would most certainly take him to one. It would be an interesting night, surly.

Her reasons for remaining with the vampire, they would be for another night. It was all complicated, and tied in heavily with her sire. The story of how she requested to become a vampire, and idea that might seem completely insane to him. Which was why she had not yet brought it up in conversation. It was difficult to explain, and this certainly was not the place for that sort of discussion. Adian couldn't imagine jealousy was an issue here. However, she was rather positive, that there were never any couples around, necking. Hmm, maybe she did have a taste for the dangerous after all.

Dark eyes focused on each point of interest, which he happened to explain. It seemed when it actually came down to it, she felt a mix of nerves, and excitement begin to churn in her stomach. This was never something she had done before, nor would she have thought to. After all, when only a handful of things were able to kill you, you happened to avoid them. A bullet to the head, or chest, that would certainly end any vampires life. Taking the plugs in hand, she tucked one into each ear. Though, they barely had any effect on her ability to hear... hopefully the sounds of shooting wouldn't be bothersome. A downside, to having sensitive hearing, things that would not make most people cringe, at times had such an effect on her. "Bulls-eye, right."

A rather questionable look was presented, when he gave her the magazine to load. True, she needed to learn, but this was all very odd to her, but she did just as he had. Placing the remaining bullets into place, until no more would take. "Of course... what's the saying, never point a gun at anything, that you don't intend to shoot." No matter the circumstances. Perhaps that wasn't a saying, just over all common sense. Adian hoped that she would never had reason to fire a gun, outside of this place, but having all the knowledge at her disposal regardless, was not a bad idea. "May I?" She asked, taking the .22 from him, and giving it a good looking over. Though, she did take his advice, and never had the barrel point towards anyone. "It's not a completely bad feeling. I thought it would feel so completely odd, but it doesn't, not really."

Did she really expect him to disagree with anything he asked her to do? The man was smitten. She could take him to a mob gathering and he'd probably go along with it to an extent. I mean, yeah, he had his limits and she was testing them, but she wasn't exactly brushing against his illegal radar yet. If she did, he'd have to draw the line, but he didn't see Adian taking it that far. "Really," he replied, dimples showing again as he smiled. Interesting, definitely. She'd probably be able to rate his blushes on a scale of the brightness of the color red as the night went on.

Hale would have a problem understanding her reasons. But he did know that she had them. Just because he didn't understand didn't make Adian's reason any less valid. It just made them confusing, which was okay. He didn't have to know everything. She would tell when she was ready, and that's why he didn't ask. Prying was never a good strategy outside the interrogation room.

Once she had gotten the crash-course in gun safety, he smiled. She was a good student. "Exactly. That's one of the first things a cop needs to understand. A lot of rookies come on the force and start pulling their guns on every arrest, and a lot of times they get shot because the criminal, who hadn't pulled his gun, had one hidden and the rookie wasn't prepared to shoot. If you pull a gun on someone you'd better be damn sure you're ready to pull the trigger, or someone else might just beat you to it." He could cite plenty of examples of that, and he had been the same way. To new cops, a gun could be a security blanket. Unfortunately, it just made the situation worse most of the time.

"Of course you can," he said, letting her examine the gun for a moment before he stepped in to help. "Now shooting stance is with your feet at shoulder width. Make sure you're steady on your feet or if you shoot a bigger gun it might knock you back. With this one, you don't have to worry about recoil." Then, he slid his arms under hers and helped her position her hands on the weapon. Right hand goes like this, index finger on the trigger--except unless you're ready to shoot, keep your finger off it, of course. Your left hand goes under the stock a little, like you're cupping it almost. Hold your arms straight out where you can look down the top of the gun," he said, sliding his hands along her arms to help her hold it properly. "See the bead toward the back? Line it up between the two indentions at the front on the target you want to shoot. Then when you're ready, click off the safety like this," he said, demonstrating. "And pull the trigger." He let his hands trail back down her arms, kissing her on the neck softly before stepping to the side and sliding his own ear plugs in. "Whenever you're ready."

Testing one another's limits might not be a bad thing. Adian knew not to ask him along to anything shocking, or illicit. Certainly not illegal. In truth, she didn't have much taste for that sort of thing, beyond say, gambling. And that, she had not participated in for some time. He was doing it this night, taking her to a place, that she would surly not venture to on her own. Thus far, she was enjoying it, it was interesting. It also allowed her to see a side of him, that she had never witnessed before. Something he obviously enjoyed, and carried a passion for. She wanted to know all she could about him, and this was a start. His dimples, she had all ready grown to love, so seeing them appear once more, made her smile as well.

It sounded a bit like false confidence to her. Like what a new vampire felt with a fancy set of fangs. Having something over your opponent didn't always mean you had the upper hand. In truth, it could make you lazy, and more likely to fall victim to harm. "It seems like it would be more productive, to try a different course of action, before immediately drawing a gun. Wouldn't that make the arrestee nervous, more likely to strike..." Maybe it was her anti violence side speaking. But, Adian didn't think brute force was needed in all situation. If another way could be used to solve the problem, why not take? "I suppose in some cases, it's better to be prepared, than not be." No one wanted to get shot, or close control of a potentially dangerous situation.

As he began to explain further the proper stance for shooting, her eyes fell down to her feet, as she placed them farther part. She had to admit, it felt very odd, Adian was a lady, who had always been told that you kept your knees together. This was a masculine stance, she would say. As he spoke of the kick back from some firearms, it made complete sense. Even though she was a vampire, strong in that sense, she was a waff of a woman. When he moved to help position her hands, her eyes couldn't help but fall from the gun momentarily, a bare shadow of a smile on her lips. Pushing those silly butterflies from mind, she focused once more. Nodding, she tilted her head to the side, ever so slightly to line up her target. Though, when he kissed her, that smile returned. "When I'm ready..." She repeated, eyes fixed on the target before her, obviously aiming for the middle.

Now that it was down to the moment, she felt the nerves rise once more. Lifting her chin ever so slightly, she released the safety, laid her well tailored nail upon the trigger, and squeezed. Though there was no kick back, the sensation did cause her to jump slightly. The small silver bullet sliced through the air, and the top corner of the target. Not exactly on point, but at least she had hit it. Biting her lip, she removed her finger from the trigger, before looking over to him. "I think I actually squeaked." Her lips parted then, a small laugh escaping her. There was an undeniable rush there, one that made you feel nervous, accomplished, and excited all at once... Yeah, she wanted to shoot again.

The shooting lesson went very well, as far as Hale was concerned. She wasn't a dead aim yet, but as he'd found over the years from witnessing and being involved in too many shoot-outs that perfect aim wasn't necessary to kill or seriously harm someone at close range, which is what he figured she would be doing if it ever came to that. He wasn't going to send her home with a gun tonight; there was still practice needed, but she knew how to use one now, so if she happened to 'come across' one, she'd know what to do. Or something like that.

And while the lesson had been a far cry from the brusque instruction he'd recieved (he had liked having his hands on her and kissing her from time to time, after all) the two of them had each used up a fair amount of shells and made some noise, peppering the targets. The larger holes from his bullets tended to land close to dead center every time, but a few of hers did get close, and he made sure to praise her for it.

And her squeaking was absolutely adorable.

"You picked up on it quickly for someone who'd never shot a gun before," he commented as they drove back toward the apartments in his car, both smelling faintly of gunpowder. "And you're the loveliest person I've ever taught to shoot by far," he said with a bit of a laugh, glancing over at her as he flipped his blinker on to turn back into the parking lot.

It was very dark outside now, and he instinctively took an appraising look around as he walked to her side of the car to open the door. As a detective, sometimes he found it difficult to turn that automatic reflexive need to take stock of the area, see wh was around and what they were doing, off. Kept him safe, but sometimes it was distracting.

He wasn't sure where they were going now. He wanted to take her back to his place, obviously, but he didn't want to seem too forward even though forward was exactly what he wanted to be. After slight hesitation, he gave her a slightly mischievous smile. "Care to come up for a glass of wine?"

"I had a good instructor." She said, smiling to him, from her seat. It was true, Hale had been a helpful teacher, one more than willing to answer her questions, and explain how everything worked. It seemed to her, that the maintaining of the weapon was the more difficult aspect, compared to the actual shooting. Of course, it wasn't as simple as aim, and fire. That she had discovered this night. Again she smiled, reaching up to tuck a dark curl behind her ear. "That's sweet of you to say. Though, I doubt many of you students are like me." Adian didn't think of herself as dainty, but compared to most, she was.

Ever the gentleman. "Thank you." She said, as he opened the car door for her. Though her senses allowed her to be acutely aware of all that went on around them, she did not try, and persuade him from his natural need to be protective. It was something she liked about him, truly. It was a good habit to carry, especially in his field of work. Adian often worried about him, and who he might anger. Some people were so vengeful, and evil, she feared that he might cross the wrong sort. Better to be distracted, that to walk about with your eyes closed to obvious danger.

Between his smile, and invitation, she couldn't keep her brows from raising. Nor keep the grin from her lips. Adian would have been prepared to thank him for the lovely evening, and part ways then. Did that mean that was what she would have liked to have happen? No. Ever moment they spent together, she enjoyed. If it was a choice between returning home, and popping over to his place, there was no question. "I'd love to." She said softly, slipping her arm in his, and allowing him to guide them into the building. There was also the matter, of having not seen Blue that day, and she must say hello to the pup. The two were becoming fast friends after all.
