Week Two: Tuesday
Who: Jerzy and B-Rox
Where: Old Town Towers, Fifth Floor Corridor
When: Late Morning
What: Here Kitty Kitty Kitty

Jerzy was sure he’d locked the door. No, he knew he had. But the ghosts around here never seemed to care about that. No, they just opened shit anyway. Or closed it. Open and close, open and close, open and close, and on and on and on. Some ghost had serious fucking issues. And people thought Jerzy was strange. Oh, if they only knew.

Closed. Sitting on the couch chilling with a big ol’ bowl of Cap’n Crunch and a coke, he’d just woke up and it showed, in his dress, by the state of his hair. Jerzy heard the front door slam shit. Fuck. “Kitty?”

“Hello?”

He didn’t think there was anyone here, well besides him and Taavi, who was most definitely in the shower. “Taavi?” He asked anyway. “Kitty, kitty? Okay, not funny.” His worry was for the cat, in all this. Someone or something had either just come in, or just left, but Jerzy worried about the kitty. Well, of course he worried about Taavi, but hell, he knew that whatever it was was probably not more badass than Taavi. That guy could kick major fucking ass. Jerzy had seen it.

After setting the bowl and soda on the coffee table (he’d had to brush aside yesterday’s dishes, game cartridges, overflowing ashtray, a bong, and various other items), Jerzy was up and moving. His eyes moved every which direction as the man took on a stealthy stance, shoulders hunched, bare feet falling softly on the rug and then the wood floor. When he saw the door he paused. It was wide open.

Jerzy turned around and around, looking, but made his way finally, on shaking legs, to the door, and out. In the hall now. “Kitty?…” He'd never given the cute little thing a name. After all, she wasn't his to name. Not like she'd be sticking around or anything. But he hadn't expected this.

She'd been working so much at the shop lately that Rox had severely neglected her apartment. It had needed a good cleaning to say the least and that's exactly what she spent her morning off doing: dusting, sweeping, rearranging shit until she liked the new order of it better, gathering up trash. Tying off the garbage bags, she set them next to the door - a silent reminder to grab them on her way out next time she left.

Rox grabbed a quick shower and pulled on a clean pair of jeans and plain black wifebeater, shoving her feet into some socks and her black motorcycle boots. She grabbed the trash left waiting by the door, hefting it over one shoulder as she headed out the door. The trash chute was towards the end of the hall, a quick trip before she was tossing out the bit of garbage she had. Dusting her hands off on the ass of her jeans, she turned around to head back to her place and saw what looked like a cat dart across the hall.

Peeking around the corner, Roxy couldn't help but going to check and see if it actually was a cat - in the Towers, you couldn't always tell if what you saw was actually what you saw. The ghosts had a sense of humor, it seemed, and they rather liked playing tricks. Most of the time they were harmless and funny, so nobody really seemed to mind too much.

"Hey there pussy cat, whatcha doing out here?" crouching down, Rox swept the little furball up into her arms, scratching it gently behind one ear. From behind her she could hear a tentative voice calling out for what she could only assume was the little guy she held. Stepping back around the corner, she glanced up to see Jerzy standing there looking around for the kitten. "Looking for this guy?" she asked, stepping closer to offer up the bundle she held.

Even not working at all Jerzy neglected the apartment he shared with his brother. Maybe he should figure that shit out. After all, Taavi worked so hard, giving him a clean place and maybe a meal once in a while, shouldn’t be too much to offer once in a while. Maybe if there was a video game that taught those kinds of things?

Were there other people in the towers that knew about the ghosts? Jerzy didn’t know. It’s not like he ever talked to about it to other people. “Oh, by the way, I’m not a creep or anything, but uh, there’s a ghost behind you making faces while you talk.”

Usually it wasn’t even anything that obvious. The only one Jerzy knew to be ghost for sure were the ones he knew from experience were ghosts. The ones he’d seen walk through walls, or with the back of their head missing. Most of the time he couldn’t tell the difference in talking to one of them, if they were alive or a ghost. Hard to tell until they did something to make it obvious.

Like this girl holding Kitty. Jerzy had seen her before, but that didn’t mean shit. The best way for him to tell without them doing something was to find out if Taavi could see them too.

Still, it was best, he’d learned long ago, to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, as though they were human, not vice verse. He grinned and ran his hand through his unbrushed hair, suddenly completely aware of his unkempt appearance. Not like it was something to keep him up at night with worrying, but he did have enough social skills to understand this wasn’t the best way to look outside your front door. On the verge of asking if Kitty was in fact hers, she called him a “guy”, and Jerzy knew than that she wasn’t the owner.

“Yeah. Thanks. Heard the elevator on the other side and freaked a little thinking he might really get hurt there.” Or lost completely. He took the kitty and snuggled the purring little brat. He kissed her head without considering it.

Rox handed over the little kitten, assuming that Jerzy was the owner. Even if not, it was obvious that he was concerned with the little sucker - not to mention he was looking for it - so it seemed the most sensible option. She waved off the ghost behind her, having lived here long enough already to know not to mind them, "They tend to do that around here." It took a lot to freak out a recovering drug addict, Roxy had hallucinated worse shit than the ghosts in the Towers could come up with. And yes, she definitely believed the place was haunted.

"Nah, little furball was just wandering around. More getting a feel for the place than making a break for it, I think." He seemed quite taken with the kitten, the two at ease with one another. As Jerzy leaned in to press a kiss to the thing's head, it nuzzled lightly against his chin. "I'd offer a hand, but you've got them both full at the moment. I'm Roxy, I live just down the hall in 5," she motioned randomly behind her, "I've seen you around but never bothered to introduce myself. I figure now is a good time for that."

Her smile was a warm one in spite of whatever impression a first glance might make - dimples, shining with turquoise jewelry, poked into view for a moment. Dammit, she needed a pet...seeing Jerzy and the little kitten was enough to solidify that. Hell, it was her day off, she was going to the pound. Ha.
