Week Three: Wednesday
Who: Hale and Adian
Where: Dimitriou's Jazz Alley, then Hale's apartment.
What: Adian's weekly performance turns interesting, with an unexpected in attendance.
When: Evening
Rating: Eh... probably tame. We'll see.

"Turn down the lights, turn down the bed....Turn down these voices inside my head. Lay down with me, tell me no lies. Just hold me close, don't patronize--don't patronize me." Accompanied by the piano, as well as a softly played drum, Adian began to sing. One hand wrapped around the top of a microphone stand, the other with dangling cigarette between her fingers. "I can't make you love me, if you don't. You can't make your heart feel, something it won't. Here in the dark, in these final hours... I will lay down my heart, and I'll feel the power... But you won't, no you won't... and I can't make you love me, if you don't." Adian was so focused on the song, that her eyes remained closed through the entire stretch. It was a solemn song, and she didn't think one should watch people, while singing it. There would always be one, or two in the audience, who could relate to the words. It was always obvious on their faces, and it made her curious of their own heartbreak.

When the bass guitar began to play, she stepped back away from the mic, knowing that the solo would buy her enough time, to enjoy a bit of her wine, and cigarette. After snubbing it out, of the bottom of her leopard print shoe, Adian ran a hand over the silken black dress, she had decided to wear this night. Blues music, and black clothing always seemed to go well together. Or so she thought. Blues had always been a bit about mourning the lose of something in ones life, so it was fitting.

As she returned to the microphone, she allowed her eyes to scan the audience. Most were enjoying the gentle bass solo, but it seemed there were always a few walking about. Most of the time they were employees of the Alley, serving drinks, and taking orders. Adian thought nothing of the figures, until a certain one came more into focus. He seated himself at a relatively close table, and it didn't take her long to recognize just who it was. So, he really did wish to see her perform, another point to him, for being honest, and listening. It was difficult not to smile, a problem she noticed having, when ever around him. She needed to focus on the song, at least until it was complete.

"I can't make you love me, if you don't. You can't make your heart feel something it won't. Here in the dark, in these final hours... I will lay down my heart, and I'll feel the power." She began once more, plucking the mic from it stand, so that she could pace along the stage. "But you won't, no you won't. And I can't make you love me.... if you... you don't baby..... I love you, you don't have to love me back baby." As the music began to die down, she vocalized softly till the end. When the audience began to applaud, she gave a little nod. "Thank you." Adian smiled to the crowd, before her eyes found Hale once more. That little smug smile of hers appeared once more. She was pleased to see him, no denying that.

She was stunning.

That was the first thought that came to Hale's mind when he walked into the smoky club and saw Adian up on the stage. The dress skimmed over her body beautifully, and he stood in the doorway for a moment just admiring her. In fact, he remained in the background through the majority of the song, feeling rather hypnotized by her voice. And she could possibly be doing that on purpose, but Hale had the feeling that it was just the lovely quality of it, the way she caught the meaning of the somber song.

When she stopped singing for a moment, he made his way to a table that had just been vacated. How anyone could leave in the middle of her performance was beyond him, but he appreciated the close seat, only feet from the stage. He applauded with the rest of them at the end of the song, ordering a glass of wine from the waiter that came by the table. He smiled back at her, a wide, flirty smile, when their eyes met. He could tell she was glad to see him and that made him feel... well, like smiling wider. He was glad he came.

Adian had to bite the inside of her bottom lip, to keep from returning the broad smile. If had been the two of them, she would not have held back, but as it was, there were always quite a few humans present in the audience, so keeping her fangs hidden, was rather important. "From time to time, I stray away from traditional jazz, and I would ask everyone to allow me to do so this evening. Just for one song. I have previously promised a friend, that I would dedicate a song to him, which I intend to do. He knows who is." There was a bit of curious discussion among the crowd. However, if they were patient, they would soon discover, just who she spoke of.

Placing the microphone in it's stand once more, Adian placed her back on the crowd. She spoke lightly to each member of the band. Wishing to make sure, that the song she had in mind, was one that they would each be able to play. Though the guitarist seemed to be a bit surprised with her selection. Each member seemed more than willing to play the song. Even one of the back up singers, agreed to play the harmonica. Once everything was order, she returned to the helm of the stage.

The air was silent for a moment, before the drums began a rolling introduction, joined quickly by the guitar, and harmonica. As they pulled back, she gripped the microphone. The lyrics of The Rolling Stones, spilling from her lips. "Love is strong, and you're so sweet. You make me hard, you make me weak. Love is strong, and you're so sweet. And some day babe, we've got to meet." Adian's hips swiveled, and turned with the beat of the music. It was definitely a change from her normal performance. It was almost seductive, the way she purred into the mesh metal.

It was obvious she intended to make an impression. Such an impression, which earned quite a bit of whistling, and cat calling from the audience. "A glimpse of you, is all it took. A strangers glance, it got me hooked..." Plucking the mic free from it's stand, she moved about the stage, going through the song, while her body continued to move. At the end of the first chorus, those leopard print heels, carried her towards the small set of stairs, which lead off stage. The singing never stopped though. Weaving through the crowd, her eyes moving over those she passed, before she finally reached Hale's table. When it became quite clear to those gathered, who the song was dedicated to, the applause began once more. With a cocky little smile, she circled him, dragging her hand across the back of his shoulders.

Facing him once more, Adian placed herself in his lap, one arm wrapped around his neck, while her hand dragged gentle against his cheek. "Your love is strong, and you're so sweet. You make me hard, you make me weak.... What are you scared of, baby? It's more than just a dream. I need some time. We make a beautiful team... beautiful team." As the music took over slightly, she leaned forward, kissing the corner of his mouth, before rising to her feet once more. Adian used the small space of time until the next verse, to make her way back onto the stage. "I wait for you until the dawn. My mind is ripped my heart is torn. And love is strong and you're so sweet. Your love is bitter it's taken neat." As the instruments joined together, in what one might call a true jam session, Adian vocalized on, until the song ended. It had been quite the success, or so she thought. If the applause was any indication. There would be no hiding her smile this time.

When Adian announced that she was truly going to follow through with dedicating a song to him, Hale immediately turned a brighter shade of red. To avoid drawing attention to himself, he took a drink and then propped one arm on the table, resting his chin in his hands to appear as 'natural' as he possibly could. Didn't change the smile though.

He followed her movements with his eyes as she walked around, speaking to her band, and then returned to the front of the stage. His blush had subsided a bit, but was still evident.

Rolling Stones, nice. Hale's smile grew a bit more when she started singing, voice, body, everything lending itself to seduction. Not that he needed any extra incentive to keep his eyes glued to her lithe figure on the stage. He didn't join in the catcalls; it wasn't his style, but his eyes weren't leaving her form.

Even as she descended from the stage and wove through the crowd, he turned to watch her. And suddenly she was in front of him and people were applauding. He was embarrassed, of course, but damn. She knew how to make an impression. That smile, well, he couldn't help but return it. Sure, he felt special. Yeah, he could blame the blush on that.

He tried his hardest to keep his composure as she climbed into his lap, touching him lightly, almost tantalizing as she sang. Was she doing that thing with her voice again? If so, it was definitely working. He let out a small, pleased sigh when she kissed him, running his hand down her bare arm as she stood up and sauntered away from him.

Oh yes, he applauded. That had been quite a show, to be sure! And if her smile was any indication, she'd enjoyed it as much as he had. Well, maybe almost as much.

After the dedication, she thanked the accompanying band, for straying from their set for the song. Adian could sing all night to Hale, if given the chance, but she knew that the set had to be completed, before she could reach out to him once more. Besides, he wanted to see her sing, and he would get to. Once two more songs were performed, one of her own, which had been written about Roslin, and a rather sweet rendition of smile, Adian stepped away from the make, giving a little bow. "Thank you, everyone. Once more, let's have a round for Second Sight." She stepped back, applauding the band.

More often than not, her eyes had strayed to him, but for the most part, she remained quite professional. It was obvious by her ease, that she had been performing in front of crowds for some time. It wasn't the least bit intimidating to her, especially with a crowd of this size. While working in the Windmill theater, back in London, they were visited daily by hundreds of people. That had been taken a bit to get used to.

Once backstage, she gathered her purse, and said her good byes to the group. The alley was full of chatter, when she reappeared on the floor. The house lights were even up, while the next group prepared for their set. "Good evening Mr. Everard, fancy seeing you here." She said in teasing, once his table was reached. As if she hadn't just been singing in his lap some fifteen minutes before. "I'm so pleased you came." Adian gave his hand a gentle squeeze, before taking the seat next to him. "And, that you remembered what I night I told you... shows you actually listen to me."

It was obvious just how happy she was that he had come, her lips were constantly touched with a smile, one which refused to go away. "I hope you didn't mind... I couldn't resist showing off a bit." Adian admitted, placing her bag atop the table, before turning to face him. She hadn't missed his blush, so she wanted to make sure that he hadn't really minded. Though, if she had to guess, he didn't mind in the least.
