Week Three: Weds
Who: Roxy and Tavin
Where: Old Town Towers
What: Jerzy's cat is loose again, so Rox brings her home
When: Early evening

She'd been hauling in groceries when she'd first spotted the thing - the little furball that went dashing through the open door of her apartment. It looked vaguely like the kitten she'd seen prowling around the hallway days before, one that had been retrieved quickly by a dark-haired kid from down the hall. Was the poor thing loose again? Seemed to be the case, though dashing into Roxy's apartment might have been the worst choice. Sure, she had a cat but she also had a dog who was used to sharing the place with it's feline family member. This new intruder probably wouldn't be welcomed warmly.

Dumping the bags onto her kitchen table, she closed the door before the whole trio was running loose in the building, following the loud growling she could hear down the hall and into her bedroom. Jinx, the cat that already called the apartment home, was curled up on top of her pillow staring balefully at the source of all the noise. Crouched down so that he could peer under her bed - and growly rather loudly - her white pitbull, Saint, had the poor kitten back into a corner. Literally. "Ok, ok, that's enough," leaning down, she pulled him back by the collar, leading him back out into the hall and closing her bedroom door. It took a few moments of coaxing to get the poor kitten to come out of it's hiding place, looking about as traumatized as could be. Little thing probably hadn't expected such a greeting.

Scooping the cat up into her arms, Roxy figured taking it back down the hall was the best course of action. Besides, the kid would probably be out looking for it again so she'd save him the time and effort. She stepped over Saint and grabbed her keys, kitten snuggled up in one arm as she headed down the hall. Her memory couldn't exactly pull up which number it was, though A5 looked to be the right distance from her place. Oh well, only one way to find out. Raising a hand, she knocked loudly and waited until the door opened to hand back over the little escapee.

It wasn't often that Tavin was around once night rolled around. That was when business picked up and he was to be out and about fulfilling the orders. But today he'd headed home for lunch with Jerzy and afterwards had taken a few hours to rest. A rarity that one was, Tavin generally pushed himself and survived on those few cat naps a week. Always worried Jerzy who tended to pass out for hours...Tavin just reminded him that if he ate piles of sugar and crashed he'd be sleeping a lot too. But he didn't, that was left all to Jerzy.

Waking up he found the kid passed out on the couch and had quietly attempted to slip out of the apartment. Problem was that damned little kitten did not want to leave him alone. Jerzy wasn't lying when he said that thing had a crush on Tavin or something. She was always at his heels, bouncing along like a hyper little thing. If it wasn't for Tavin the cat never would have gotten out. Jerzy and Tavin were nothing if not paranoid about keeping all doors shut and everything in that was supposed to be and everything out that was supposed to be. So occurrences like this one....yeah not on the often list.

Tavin was just off his game. Half asleep still and dreading the rest of the night. He was quick but somehow that kitten decided to be quicker. Not so much in some hell bent desire to get away, she loved Jerzy. More like an ooo Tavin's going out and so am I! Except, not. little fucker.

Of course she didn't hover around her feet once out of the apartment, that would be too damned easy now wouldn't it? No the second she saw Tavin reaching for her she took off. Supernatural speed apparently stood no chance against a determined kitten. Nice fact to know huh? Shit.

Tavin didn't have time for this crap.

Off the kitten went, Tavin grumbled and shoved his keys into his pocket. Kitten hunting was not on his list of things to do today. It wasn't even on his list for tomorrow. He was going to start locking that thing up in Jerzy's room before he took off, spare himself the trouble. With a shake of his head he went down the hallway, sniffing the air to get hint of where the fur ball went. It brought him near Roxy's but since the kitten had gone around the corner and back around Tavin hadn't exactly stopped.

But he did get back around to call out before she knocked loudly on the door, shit Jerzy needed some sleep. The kid didn't always like it, dreams and shit. But he still needed it. So a "Hey!" was enough to catch attention. "I'm guessing you got that houdini fucking kitten." little would she understand just how true that was for the little fucker to get away from a werecat of all things.

Only proved that he needed a shot of wake the fuck up already, was going to be a bad night if he was this off through the whole thing.

Roxy stopped, fist raised to knock on the apartment door when she heard the call from just behind her. She vaguely recognized Tavin - his face familiar in a way a neighbor's is, viewed from various passings in hallways or random spottings in lobbys. She couldn't seem to pull his name to mind, but recognizing him was enough for now.

"Yup, got the great escaper right here," she turned, flashing a glimpse of the little furball curled against one colorful arm. "Running away seems to be her favorite pass time," she quipped, offering up the kitten. They both seemed a bit hesitant to be reunited, but then the little thing crawled over and curled against his chest quite happily.

"She seems to have a thing for you," Roxy grinned, decorated dimples flashing into view. "Oh," she offered a hand suddenly, "I'm Roxy, by the way. I live just down the hall, obviously. I've seen you around but never introduced myself. Guess now is as good a time as any." It always helped to know your neighbors, right?

He wasn't that well known to her but he'd seen her around from time to time. Tavin was the sort to remember faces though, names often eluded him but even a glance at a person and he could remember details most would forget even when looking right at the person. It was a handy trait from time to time, especially in his business. Remerging some druggies name didn't really matter, but that it was that druggy you were passing on the street did.

Plus he'd gone by her shop. He had plans to go in; he'd had plans for over a year now really. But time wasn't exactly a luxury that Tavin had all that often. Each time he'd cleared a few hours to get some work done something came up. A call, a deal, Jerzy needing something. Whatever the cause, tended to keep him from going in. That...and the fact that slipping silver into a tattooist's ink wasn't always that easy. Sure lots of humans had their guesses about supernaturals or maybe even knew. But knowing the nitty gritty, that wasn't so common fact.

Too bad his old tattooist, some huge vamp, had gone and gotten himself killed. He did good work.

Some were willing to do all sorts of odd shit though. Apparently shoving dead people’s ashes into tattoo ink was a trend lately. Fucked up if you asked Tavin but whatever worked for them was their own business.

"Cats starting to become more troubles then it’s worth. Going to keep it on a leash soon." alright so he wouldn't, he'd feel like shit for it since he knew too well what being on a leash felt like. But he was not going to have this be some daily routine. Cat follows at heels, cat gets out, tavin chases cat, cat gets shoved back inside. Amusing story...but it was going to get old quick.

The cat was damn lucky that Jerzy liked it so much. Not that a dog would exactly work for them either. How about a turtle? Too slow to get out, little upkeep, didn’t get in the damn way.

Yeah Tavin knew he was stuck with the kitten.

He took the kitten back but Tavin couldn't help but roll his eyes at that comment "Hopefully she'll get some sense in her soon enough." that whole cat aspect, wasn't going to make him like her more. She'd have better luck crushing on Jerzy, he was all about giving the attention. Not Tavin. The damn cat was shifted so she wouldn't be able to squirm free but Tavin still had a hand free, able to shake Roxy's own. "Tavin, I've seen you around. Gone by your shop."

"Eh, I'm sure she'll get over her whole 'escapee' phase at some point," Roxy shrugged, "my dog did the same thing for awhile when I first moved here....exploring or whatever. Dunno but he got over it eventually. Besides, little kitty cat running loose in the hall is a hell of a lot better than my pitbull prancing around." She grinned, but it was a good point. Saint had taken to nearly tackling people in the hall simply out of excitement - luckily they seemed to be well passed that phase now. She could definitely relate to this particular problem.

Whether he was choosing to give the thing attention or not, the little kitten seemed quite happy simply to try. Even now she was just curled against him, but it seemed like the perfect place for her. Cats had a way of sneaking about to get what they want and it if it was attention, well you were likely to wake up with one all but sleeping on your face. Silly things.

"Nice to meet you Tavin," she smiled lightly at the mention of her shop, "stop in sometime, I'll give you the 'good neighbor' discount on some work."

“I wouldn’t know, never had a pet.” He was one, sorta, in some weird fucked up way that he wasn’t even going to entertain more thought on because he knew a few demons and vamps that kept were’s really as pets. Not a life for him thanks, talk about lashing the fuck out. Tavin didn’t do well caged and it wasn’t just because of that cat blood roaming through his veins.

“But I’ll tell the kid to keep a better eye on the runaway.” Which still translated to Tavin just locking the damned cat up with the kid when he had to leave. Made Jerzy happy cause he had a cat curled up with him and kept Tavin happy cause he didn’t have to spend far too long chasing the little bugger down. Hopefully she did grow out of that phase, Tavin had enough shit to deal with besides run away kitties and how it would upset Jerzy if she really did get out for good.

“Easier maybe, but a hell of a lot harder to get back inside. Dogs a little bigger to grab.” And couldn’t get into those impossibly small spots that required you trying to become a fucking contortionist to be able to get them. Yeah Tavin and the cat were on glaring terms no matter how happy it seemed to be all curled up on him. More reason to keep his door shut at night, or to search to make sure certain cats were outside of that closed door. He did not need to wake up with cat ass in his face.

Not his idea of a good time. “Planned to a few times, always got caught up with some bullshit or another though.” Tavin gave a shrug of his shoulders “Happens, maybe I’ll bring the kid along.” Jerzy wasn’t all into needles or anything but he might want to be there when Tavin got something to represent him on his flesh. He’d been thinking about it for awhile, he wasn’t really sure what yet but he had a few brief ideas. Kid meant enough to be permanently there. Which was why he needed to make sure silver was involved, Tavin didn’t have time for the constant touch up bullshit.

Enjoyable pain and all…but cost money and time that he didn’t always have a hell of a lot to spare of.

“Good neighbor huh? That what we get called for having run aways?” he arched a brow with a faint smirk. Yeah he wasn’t sure most would put them in the good neighbor’s category. They didn’t run around screaming or banging on the walls but not everyone liked having a dealer around. Not that Tavin advertised that fact. He kept it pretty hush really; he knew cops were in the building after all. But he knew a few felt odd around him…probably sensitive in some way. Was pretty rare among humans but happened every now and again.

Not that Tavin was really around the building all that much.

“Thanks for the deal though, sure I’ll be taking you up on that.” Still though he was cool with talking tattoos for a bit he wasn’t going to keep her if she needed to rush off for something. Shit to do and people to see or whatever. Not like it wasn’t the same for him.

"Never had a pet, really?" Roxy's face scrunched into disbelief for a moment before she nodded towards the little bundle in his arms, "Well guess you're having a pretty interesting time with your first one there. She seems to be a little handful. Cute though, which I guess can save your ass more times than not." Course she didn't think that mattered much with Tavin, but didn't make it any less true.

"Good neighbors don't play stereos too loud or stink up the hallway with weird food, never read anything about runaway cats. Besides, I think the poor thing definitely got the crap scared out of her, nearly gettin eaten and all. So far you guys are fittin into my definition of good neighbors, so ya get a discount." Simple enough, at least in her book. Unless he wasn't interested in body mod work, in which case that little offer meant shit. Oh well.

Course when he mentioned taking her up on her offer, she had her answer. "Great, you know where we're at then, right? Just stop in anytime, me or Stump will be sure to take care of ya," Roxy offered with a wink. She'd leave word with her partner that their discount was good regardless of who did the work in shop.

"Nope, never really was the sort of kid that wanted one." had enough to take care of with two siblings that he'd been far too young to be responsible for and had fucked up big time in taking care of. But back then, shit no way his parents would have agreed to a pet. Not that they probably would have noticed but...fact remained. No cash for an extra mouth to feed. After that...life wasn't exactly in that "room for a pet" sort of place.

Though he was sort of surprised it took this long for Jerzy to get himself one. The kid was definitely the sort that looked like he'd want a freaking litter of pets. "Yeah, been interesting so far. I'll give her that damn much." interesting in the better you stop pissing Tavin off sort of fashion. He only had so much tolerance...though Jerzy got away with a lot. So the kitten was lucky she had him on her side. "I'd say she'll grow out of it but with my luck she's only going to get worse." and Jerzy was going to crack up about it.

Joy.

"Can't say weird food is a staple around our place unless you count hoho's or soda." which hohos sure as hell were weird food in his opinion but they at least didn't stink the place up. Which probably was what made them so weird. Food should go bad. But twinkies and hohos never seemed to change no matter how long they were in the cupboard. Not that they ever were for long with the sugar fiend that Jerzy was.

"Yeah, been around there more then a few times." nearly stopping in and dealing more then a bit around the shop. Tavin knew just about every place in the city. High class and the slums he was seen just about everywhere and knew far more people then most might guess. "Stump huh? Always with the unique names at places like that. Alright, I'm sure I'll be around soon then." get a day off and drag Jerzy in or something he'd figure it out.

“And I’ll make sure the escapee doesn’t come along for the ride.” No this run away stuff wasn’t happening again so easily thanks.

He gave a nod, that last sort of thanks for not having her dog eat the kitten. "Sure I'll see you around then at some point." whenever he got ink or shit maybe it would be her dog that came tearing through the halls next time. Never knew.

But his guess was she'd bene in the middle of something and he had a kitten to throw back inside the apartment and attempt to make up for the time she'd lost him already.

"Fair enough," Rox nodded lightly. She'd been a mess of a kid and a pet hadn't even seemed like a possibility so she'd given up any hopes of such a thing. When you grew up rough - if you were smart - you learned what to stop hoping for early on. When you could barely keep yourself alive, bringing home a puppy was just a dumb-ass thing to beg for.

"Yeah, you don't really seem like the pet type," she added after a moment, hoping that wasn't an insult or anything but he didn't seem overly thrilled with the cat or with holding it for that matter. The whole thing looked really...awkward.

"Guess I know whose door to knock on next time I have a random sugar craving," she joked with a wink. Roxy had a bit of a weakness for chocolate, kept it on hand in her place pretty much all the time...not to mention around the shop. She was glad to hear he knew about the Needle, where it was, what have you. At least the place was garnering some kind of a reputation. "Stump, yeah," Roxy laughed, "he's a character. Good guy, one of the best mod pros I've ever met, but he's definitely a unique dude." If you didn't mind a person with overwhelming personality, you wouldn't mind Stump.

Roxy chuckled, "Thanks. Not sure how well the shop would do with a wired up cat on the loose, might scare off some of the customers."

"Stop by anytime, doors are usually open and the discount offer is always good," she assured him. Reached out, she scratched behind the kitten's ear in a good bye, "See ya, little Houdini." She gave Tavin a nod and headed back to her place, this time making sure to close the door behind her.
